First time here, stayed 3 nights. Site is sheltered being in an ex quarry, the facilities were modern and always clean, and for the best part most pitches were reasonably flat.

Wardens were friendly and helpful on arrival and throughout our stay, and the site shop sold bread and milk to tie you over before having to go to shops (plus some lovely cakes and cheese).

Only downside from our point of view was the central bin area at the site entry, much preferred bins at the service points.

Some great walks around the site if you don’t mind some hills.

Went to Buxton, a lovely town with its late Victorian architecture, 8 pubs and lots of cafes plus some good independent shops.

Also went to High Peak Bookstore and Cafe, worth a visit if only for the refreshments.

Certainly would return, but you will need to like walking or have a car to take you off site

An excellent location close to the town, in an old quarry that sheltered you from some wind.

Ideal for visiting Buxton. Within walking distance of the town

If you like walking its close to some great walks.

Positives - Absolutely lovely site, great scenery, quiet and great location.

Toilet block was heated and clean, with lovely spacious shower rooms. None of the annoying push button showers.

Reception was good, though there was a mix up with pitch choosing which could / should have been avoided.

Decent walk into Buxton town centre, (up and then down a big steep hill!)

Site is visited by pizza van and Fish & chip van on Fri / sat nights. Didn't use either so cannot comment.

Plenty of Dog walking.

Negatives - Most pitches need levelling ramps.

At £29. 50 /night it's a little more expensive than we usually pay however the facilities are better.

Really great site set in an old quarry. Within half an hour walk into Buxton.

Facilities were spot on and site was well kept.

All pitch's were flat, some with spectacular views.

This site is in a wonderful picturesque location in a quarry above Buxton.

The site is very well maintained and the facilities are clean and in good order.

The Wardens are helpful and there is also a very good shop with fresh baked goods every day from a Bakewell bakery. Lovely walks around the country park and the local area.

Hard standing pitches are good, although a lot seem to have a slight slope so take your ramps.

This is the best site we have visited this year.

Med to large delightful peak district camc site with mostly large hardstandings but many lightly sloping.

Quarry location with plenty of greenery with nice layout.

One large brand new facilities block though two smaller ones would be easier to get to from site extremities.

Check in painfully slow but wardens pleasant.

Good site ambiance and not noisy.

Drainage seems good.

30 min downhill walk from Buxton (£6 taxi return available).

Great short and medium walks from site.

Recycling but no glass separation.

MH service point excellent.

Access road fine as are directions.

WiFi useless

Mobile average.

No playground but kids seem to have a good time.

The site is on an old quarry so you’re surrounded nearly on all sides by rock or trees so WiFi and tv satellite reception can be tricky. We pitched over to the left bottom corner and managed to get both luckily.

The site is clean and well managed, the walk into Buxton took around half an hour through the forest. About 2 thirds of the way into Buxton there is a nice cafe at the Go Ape complex, a handy rest stop before the climb back up to the campsite!

The folly is worth a visit, just follow the route through the car park opposite the site. We used the taxi company that has a deal set up through the campsite for a discounted fare to/from Buxton, which worked very well but don’t use them to go to Leek as they charged us £30 one way, for just a car, and a local Leek taxi company only charged £20 for the return journey.

Leek is very nice and worth a visit.

The weather wasn’t really on our side but there are plenty of walks nearby and look out for the eagle which fishes in the fenced off water adjacent to the site.

Love this site. Set in a quarry in a country park a short walk through woods to Buxton.

Facilities are without doubt the best yet. Had a pop up pizza stall there too.

Highly recommended.

Great site, lovely location for walking. Friendly helpful wardens, very well run, clean and tidy.

Lovely little touches around the site that fitted in with the surroundings.

Very calm and peaceful

Located in an old limestone quarry, very tranquil. An easy 20 minute walk into town. Buxton is an excellent town to explore.

Shaun and the wardens take great pride in keeping the site in optimum condition. They are eager to please and socialise to make your stay as enjoyable as they can.

Facilities are kept spotless to meet your needs.

Can't fault it.
