We thought that the campsite was very organised as regarding the COVID situation.

It was our first break and it all seemed to work well with no problems

Apart from the weather being very disappointing.

We were disappointed about the fact we couldn’t really cycle comfortably

From the site, the nearest cycle route was about 6 miles away.

 Excellent, clean and welcoming site.

Facilities block is second to none with lovely warm showers.

Buxton is a 30 min walk down through the woods.

Good pub close to the site (The Duke) which serves good food and beers.

To Find Site:- From Buxton take A53 toward Leek. After passing A54 (Macclesfield Road) take next left signed for Grin Low Country Park. In about a 100 metres turn left and follow road around to site. Coming down the hill towards the Grin Low Country Park, cross the cattle grid and the site entrance is on the left.

This campsite has a rather spectacular setting in an old quarry in the Grin Low Country Park on the outskirts of Buxton. The site is open from mid-March to early November and non-members are accepted. In total there are 127 pitches all but the five tent pitches are on hardstandings of which 22 are serviced pitches fresh water supply and grey waste disposal.

Electric points are convenient to all pitches, they are rated at 16 amps and use CEE17 blue connectors. The bollards also have a TV co-ax connection which is free to use but you have to supply your own cable. There are three service points around the site leaving some pitches a bit far from water and waste disposal.

There is a spacious motorhome service point with an open grill dump point. The central toilet block is of a nice quality and of sufficient size to cope with the size of the site but again some way from the furthest pitches. Within the block is a covered dishwash area and a laundry. Reception sells a few essentials and next door is an information room.

There are no play facilities for children. There is site wide WiFi at available extra cost. Mobile phone signal is very limited on this site, if making a call it might be worth walking up to the area near reception.

Although close to Buxton there are no convenient public transport links from near the site. The site has made arrangements with a local taxi firm for a fixed, reasonably priced, fare either in the town or back to the site. If you are able, probably the nicest way into Buxton is the walk via the Grin Low Country Park, after an initial climb it is all downhill.

The first part takes you down to Poole’s Cavern where there is a café and toilets. The final part of the walk is through very gentrified Buxton Streets, initially to Pavilion Gardens and then into the centre. The town is famous for its Spa and taking the waters. The Crescent is currently undergoing restoration.

There is a good range of shops in the town including a handy Waitrose. Larger supermarkets are a little further out.

This is probably the best Caravan & Motorhome club site we have visited. Pitches are large and level with the added addition of a TV point for each pitch.

The toilet block is the best we've seen having 9 showers in both ladies and gents. This site was nearly full every night we were there and never had a problem getting a shower in the morning.

Staff were lovely and helpful.

Nice walk around the quarry which the site is in. Buxton and Bakewll are both worth a visit and there are plenty of other attractions to visit even on a wet day.

A lovely peaceful site. Large level pitch. We were on a cul-de-sac road with only 7 caravans on. So not much traffic passing. Staff very friendly. Toilet blocks immaculate at all times. This site is in a country park and the caravan site drops down so signal for phone was quite poor at times with being in a quarry. Some lovely places to visit Bakewell, Ashbourne and Chesterfield. Buxton us ok too. W We went to The Railway Inn for tea 1 night. Lovely food. The Harpurs bar chippy sells fantastic tasting food. Nice having the country park for dog walking. Next time we visit I would love to come is in summer with all the trees in bloom.

Since it's upgrade we have been impressed with the site.

TV points on all pitches a big improvement.

New roads.

Usual excellent standards expected by the caravan club.

Great shower and toilet block. Plenty of cubicles.

Lovely walks around.

Buxton is close by and walkable if you are pretty fit.

It's all uphill on the way back and takes at least half an hour.

Wardens very polite.

It's better now the kids park is no longer there.

Due to the location you don't tend to get many kids here which we find a big bonus.

I would return.

Loved this site, its situated in an old quarry on the outskirts of Buxton. This has everything that you'd expect from a CAM site, friendly helpful staff, all the services and well maintained grounds.

Just a short walk is Solomons Temple which from the top gives you a magnificent view of Buxton in the valley. Buxton is about a 30 minute walk down a good path through Grin Low woods which fetches you out at Pooles Cavern on the fringes of Town. A warning here though its a long climb back for those not used to walking uphill. The site has a deal with a local Cab company that fetches you back up for a fiver ( cab card from reception) Lovely Park with a lake and a large kids playground near the Opera house, plenty of pubs in town, loads of shops and numerous Charity shops if hunting books or a bargain is your thing. The Wye Bridge Inn (Wetherspoons) highly recommended just past the viaduct. Will be back, loved it.

Visited here for a weekend break. Site is nicely situated in a quarry and very quiet. Wardens as usual very polite and site is very well cared for. Toilets could do with an update and water pressure in the showers was poor but water was hot. Nice walk into Buxton through the woods which takes approx 25 mins, could be a bit difficult if you don't enjoy a walk but if you take it easy you will be fine. Will definitely use this site again. Phone and wi-fi signal was poor but whether this was due to our network I am not sure.

Had a lovely few days away at this site and will definitely be back in the future. The usual wardens were on holiday but the people covering their holiday were lovely and very friendly. Location of the site is also very good, nice and peaceful and a half hour walk into Buxton through some woodland. It is quite a strenuous route if you're not fit but if you take it slowly, there are a few seats to sit on, you'll be fine.

The showers look a bit dated but they're fine and there is plenty of hot water and a hair drier is available in the block. 3 sinks are available for washing up and there is a laundry room too.

As stated, phone reception was intermittent but it was nice to have a break from it. We used the hook up ariel facility and had plenty of channels.

Bakewell market is on Mondays and well worth a visit. Also well worth a visit is Cromford, just the other side of Matlock. It has the Arkwright mills and a lovely walk along the canal.

Site is very pleasant. It is well laid out and picturesque. Set in an old quarry I expected it to be less windy but that just may be being naive. The road in to the park is well kept. The surrounding parkland is stunning and there are great walks from the site.

The actual entrance of the site is not the most picturesque I have experienced but well laid out and has space for late arrivals.

Staff as expected are friendly and helpful.

Although next to the tent area the play park is well positioned and adequate.

Toilets and showers are the usual high standard but water pressure is not great.

We had a lot of rain and the site coped well as it's hard standing. The grassed areas retained water and gets a little muddy. Steel pegs are a must.

I will definitely use this site again.

Wifi reception very poor as is the site system.
