At a lovely place – so peaceful! You can eat your dinner in the loo’s – they are immaculate! The private sinks with clean and fresh curtaining around are a brilliant facility.Great play area for the kids.Strict marked out pitches meant our family’s 2 pitches couldn’t join up and share facilities and the wardens were very strict about this too! We did feel a bit 'spied on' as there are Rules & Regs to be obeyed! But the facilities made up for it!The shop only sold ice creams and the nearest outlet for groceries was a couple of miles away so don’t forget anything!Would definitely go back!

Owned and operated by The Caravan Club, although non-members are welcome. The usual high standard of toilet/shower/laundry facilities. Faultless. A small kids' playground with lots of space for games. All pitches have electric hook-up, and water is never far away. The shop sells milk, ice creams and not much else, but there are ample shopping opportunities nearby. The site itself is very attractive, superbly situated and sheltered in an old quarry about 2 miles outside Buxton. Although loud noises reverberate around the site this is a relatively quiet site which can, however, get livlier at weekends. There are good walks nearby and excellent family cycle tracks within a few miles. Buxton itself we found soul-less despite its size - almost as if it didn't have a "heart". Console yourself by visiting the many delightful villages within easy reach. All in all, this site is at the centre of a superb area for families. Recommended.

Excellent site well run by very friendly wardens. Facilities up to the normal CC standards, variety of pitching areas toilet block can seem a long way from bottom pitches 80 - 90 Plenty of walks around the site (Country Park) and into Poole's cavern, Solomon's temple and Buxton town centre already booked to go back. Did not see any toads !

March 2005 This site has the usual good caravan club facilities. The pitches are hard standing and spacious. There is a country park next to the site with fantastic views, which is excellent for exercising the dog or for the kids to explore there is no shop nearby but Buxton is a short drive away. This site is well worth a visit. If you have a phobia about toads be aware that at the time we visited they were many around the site and on the roads we found them facinating and none came into the awning. We would visit this site again.

September 2004 A lovely secluded location with excellent facilities and friendly staff.
The toddler and baby room was a great hit with our 2 year old and a god save for us - having a clean, warm and dry baby friendly area to wash and dress her was wonderful. I will be recommending the site to all our friends - especially those with young families.

August 2004 We went over the August bank holiday weekend so we decided to book well in advance (5 weeks), just as well as we had the last available pitch. A very nice looking site hidden in an old quarry, surrounded by fantastic scenery and and walks, its close to Buxton as well. The site is immaculate and the toilets, showers and facilities are the best I have encountered by a long way. HOWEVER what a shame they let themselves down by not having us on their booking form, not knowing that we had paid a deposit and then telling us they should have rung us and cancelled us because it was too wet to tents (they hadn't). The deputy warden evetually agreed to let us stop on one of the grass pitches with electric (which we had booked) and took us down to where it was - just about to get unpacked when the Head warden arrives and tells us we cant camp there its too wet ! (left hand and right hand not knowing ......) - we would have to set up on the hardstanding, this was in the end ok although it took forever to get the tent up, they lent us some great big pegs and a lump hammer as our pegs had no chance.
In summary well a recommended site but make sure you ring before you travel just in case of admin errors.

July 2004 Hidden in a landscaped quarry, therefore sheltered from the winds a bit, not much room for tents, but a very pretty and well run site. A bit expensive but worth the extra.
The facilities are the best I've ever encountered -even in France! Curtains on the sinks and no cobwebs!
Friendly staff but no real shop and the nearest pubs etc are a good walk. Surrounding area excellent walking country.

Sept 2003 Very clean site in a picturesque setting. Hardstanding, spacious pitches. Not far from Buxton. Very friendly staff. Caravan club site but open to non-members. Highly recommended!
