Wonderful site, clean showers, tidy site and despite being in a quarry parts of the site catch the wind also some of the pitches are difficult to get into without a mover, we saw larger motorhomes having problems getting onto some pitches without going over the grass.
Wardens were very friendly and helpful, apart from Buxton we visited Castleton, Leek and the Foxfield railway, we will return, thanks for a lovely stay.

What a lovely site! We only stopped the one night on our way home but would have loved to stay longer!
Set in a quarry the site is on the outskirts of Buxton. With a fantastic park just outside the gates we were spoilt for choice on where to walk the dogs.
The pitches are well spaced out however it was fascinating to see how creative the site layout was using every available space to put in a pitch but still leaving lots of room between each one.
The toilets were spotless, warm and there were plenty of showers.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
We will be back again soon and will stay longer.

We stayed a weekend with the express purpose of doing Go Ape. The site is in a perfect location, a short pleasant walk through the woods to Go Ape and Pooles Cavern. Immediately outside the site is a country park, with great hollows for playing hide and seek in, and rocks to climb on. Solomon's temple is a very short walk away with great views.
The campsite is in a quarry, which makes it very quiet and sheltered. As is usual with Caravan Club sites everything was immaculate, and lots of beautiful flowers around. A lovely touch was the 'help yourself' herb bed.
The wardens were friendly, but had to stick to the, to my mind, overly tight CC rules. We arrived at 7pm on Friday evening, my brother was due to join us but was going to arrive after 8pm when reception closed. Despite us offering to pay his fee, and/or to arrange to let him through the barrier so we didn't disturb them and sort out the details in the morning they could not let us do this - so he had to spend the night the wrong side of the barrier in the late-arrival spot. Beware if travelling any distance, 8pm is definitely closing time.
Despite this, and the fact we couldn't reserve two spaces together, we had a great time and would recommend the site to anyone who can get there before 8pm.

We have stayed at Buxton Caravan site over this weekend and once again had a wonderful stay. The site was very busy but we found a nice level pitch which was sheltered by some trees from the wind. The site was still very peaceful and quiet at night despite being full.
The site is very well maintained by the Wardens and staff, and kept very clean. All the staff are friendly and chatty which is nice. There is an information room with lots of leaflets for places to visit nearby.
We accessed the site from the Leek direction and the site is very very easy to find. There are currently some road works on the A53 if you are heading in that direction.
Wifi is still not functioning on the site as it wasn't last time we were there in April. My other criticism is that the showers could be slightly more powerful - but they are kept very clean (despite some wet weather) and they are more than an adequate temperature. There is also plenty of room in the showers, not cramped like some other sites.
As others have stated, there are lots of walks nearby, with Solomon's temple only a few minutes walk away. The centre of Buxton is no more than 20 minute walk away through the woods. You will also find Go Ape and Pools Cavern within a very short walk.
Thank you to all the staff - keep up the good work and we will keep returning.

Nice very clean tidy site in really good position within a quarry and parkland. Walk to Buxton from the site through the woods, relatively steep coming back but very pleasant.
During our stay we visited Macclesfield Forest and walked and up(and back down)Shutlingsloe. Ths was a very nice area which we have not visited before. Toward leek is also the Roaches which looked worth a visit.
We visit the Peak District a lot and enjoy the area very much and whilst the site was very nice and we had no adverse comments from the Wardens some of the other CC members can be very unwelcoming and intolerant of children. They are after all simply having fun on holiday, everybody was tucked up by 9. 00 pm and yet there was still unnecessary (in my view) complaints from a minority. Why these people visit family sites smack bang in the school holidays god only knows, I think they sniff out reasons to be grumpy. I don't want to put anyone off visiting the site and will score it highly but we will not be back. Shame.

We used this campsite for the first time recently and found it to be very nice, we stayed for four nights tues, we'd, Thurs, fri, really enjoyed plenty of places to see locally, bakewell, Matlock, Ashbourne, and of course buxton to name but a few.
The campsite is set in a disused quarry it is a smashing setting with growth all over the quarry face, nice pitches although some can be quite tight and tricky facilities are the usual caravan club high standard clean and plenty of hot water.

We arrived after a trouble free journey over the Staffordshire Moorlands from Leek. The site was very easy to find from that direction and was well sign posted.
We received a warm welcome at check-in and followed a very slick checking in procedure, then were allowed to find our own pitch. We stayed at the end of April and although cold (it snowed and hailed to mark our arrival on the site), the site was still full.
The toilet block and campsite were kept very clean, even through the wet weather. Gents are closed at 10:30am for cleaning and ladies are closed for 11:00am for cleaning.
The site has a wonderful location, there are lots of walks available from the campsite, with Buxton being about a 25 minute walk away through a woodland path.
We managed to get a TV signal from the pitch we were on so no problems there. If you are there on a Friday night there is a fish and chip van (called Frydays I think) that parks at the entrance to the site - this seemed very popular.
We really enjoyed our stay here, it was our first experience of a Caravan club site and are looking forward to visiting many more.

Having acquired a caravan and having previously been (disillusioned) members of the camping and caravanning club we decided on giving the caravan club a go.
So Buxton is our first site as members.
It had only opened for the year the weekend we went. Snow had made sure of that and there was still a fair bit knocking around. But no worries.
The welcome we received was lovely, we booked in and chose our pitch.
Facilities are great, plenty of places to get water and dispose of waste. Toilet block was immaculate.
Loads of room on the pitches and there is a play area, but unfortunately it was buried under the snow!
Buxton is a short drive or pleasant walk away and there is an array of supermarkets about. There is a great fish and chip shop opposite sainsbury, a little expensive but worth it. They sell lovely home made steak puddings!
For those of us that like to take our dogs, the site is within a huge country park, so a pretty impressive dog walking area!
The site is in an old quarry, but it makes for stunning scenery. I'd love to go there in the summer as I expect it will get pretty hot in there!

Visited towards the end of October & had a mixed bag of weather. Two good days & two foggy damp days.
We were pitched at the bottom end of the site & had a view of the quarry face (when we could see it!)
This was our 3rd visit to this site & can only agree with other comments on the poor shower block. The women's was especially poor with only a couple of showers actually working properly. Being at the end of the season & dull & damp conditions, the site looked a little tired this time but it is still in a great location if you enjoy walking.
As others have said the Knights Table Inn is splendid & you wont be disappointed. We visited Biddulph Grange NT, walked into Buxton through the woods & a couple of gorgeous walks to the Three Shires Bridge & Shinning Tor in the Goyt Valley.
With a bit of TLC this site is as good as any in the Peak District.

A lovely site in a beautiful scenic area about 2 miles southwest of Buxton. The site itself is at the bottom of an old quarry which is a lot nicer than it sounds, nature has taken over and the sides of the quarry are covered in greenery. The entrance to the country park is just yards from the site entrance and it's just a short scramble over a field to a folly called Solomon's Temple, this is a viewing tower from which you can see for miles around.
All the attractions of the Peak District are an easy drive away and there are some nice shops and restaurants in Buxton itself. If you like a curry try the Indian Palace in the town centre.
A previous reviewer mentioned the Knights' Table pub and restaurant but don't turn up all unsuspecting on a Saturday night without a reservation, like we did, or you'll be disappointed.
At the time of our visit there had been torrential rain and some of the pitches were flooded or waterlogged but that soon drained away when the rain stopped.
The reception building and the toilet block were adorned with hanging baskets which really cheered the place up and everywhere had a well-kept feel to it and was spotlessly clean as you would expect a CC site to be.
There is a very well-stocked information room so if you're stuck for something to do, try having a browse in there.
Apparently there are plans to upgrade/extend the toilet block which is good news as it's not big enough for the number of pitches on the site, but other than that we could not fault this site and would definitely return.
