Just returned from a 3 night stay, Thursday was lovely and peaceful. Unfortunately Friday saw the arrival of a few groups and Saturday even more, the noise levels rose, there was loud music close to us and a party of some sort on Saturday night with loud singing at about 1 in the morning.
Cannot fault the site facilities or the location. With this site being fairly large with 150 pitches we did expect it to be busy with a certain degree of noise, but certainly not after the noise curfew at 11pm which people did not adhere too.
Unfortunately we will not be returning.

We camped here for the first time last weekend and I must say it was one of the best campsites we have stayed at. The site is mostly flat and tents and caravans are segregated in separate areas. There are hardstandings for caravans and electric hookups along the river for tents.
The site is right on the edge of Bala Lake and the river that feeds it which runs along the edge of the site is shallow enough for kids to play in.
We experienced a few midges but by and large they weren't too bad and repellent and citronella kept them at bay. The views from the site are amazing, at the end of the lake you can see Aran Ffawdwy and and to the west you can see Arenig Fawr.
There is a great launching 'beach' for boats and the water is shallow enough to paddle in quite far out and is great for kids.
There is a shop in the reception area which sells essentials including all types of gas canisters. There is also a play area and a separate dog walking area, but these were both quite close to the road, so this is something to be aware of.
The washing and toilet facilities are more than adequate and very modern, two separate toilet / shower blocks for men and women, plus one in between which was separated for men and women. Most of the time they were clean and there was always plenty of toilet paper, though I did notice that the soap dispensers were empty very quickly.
There are more than adequate dishwashing facilities. I counted six sinks and all had plugs. This is also the laundry room which seemed to be well equipped with washing machines. There are also the standard chemical toilet disposal areas and a good refuse area where glass and disposable barbecues are separated.
We stayed during a very hot weekend and the Friday night was very quiet, though on the Saturday the site filled up somewhat but there was still plenty of room. One gripe we had was that a group of about eight 20/30- somethings turned up on Saturday evening despite the no groups rule, probably turning up in pairs to avoid detection! They were pretty noisy into the night, though no music thank goodness, this came the following morning. This is a family site that does not take groups or all male or all female parties and does not allow loud music or car stereos playing. Because they were playing their music very loudly and refused to turn it down, they were visited by the management after we complained, but by the time the management arrived they were already decamping.
Other than that the site was very quiet and the children on the site all seemed to be well behaved and even those kicking footballs made sure they did it away from other people's tents. Campfires are allowed provided they are raised off the ground in a suitable firebox, and barbecues must also be raised off the ground. The site also requests that if you are camping in a tent for more than a week, you must move your tent after a week to let the grass recover.
This was a wonderful site and only 45 minutes from where we live. It cost £44 for two nights for myself, husband, six man tent and two children. Bank Holiday weekend rates are slightly higher. Bala is a nice little town and has everything you need including a Spar shop, a Co-op, greengrocer, hardware shops, gift shops and of course a sailing shop, not to mention a selection of pubs and hotels.
We will no doubt be back!

We returned to this campsite for 2 consecutive weekends in June, we had a fantastic weekend each time, the first one, we went as a couple, leaving the children with their grandparents, the second time, we took them with us, and we had great fun each time.
The staff on site are helpful and friendly, the facilities are clean and even though the site was very busy, we never had to queue.
We went the second time to take part in the local; triathlon, and there was a whole section reserved just for the people who were competing. This was great, as most wanted an earlyish night and an early start.
Despite the rain overnight, it was a roaring success, the children played by the lake, played ball games with others on hte site, they had bikes with them, and the site is large enough for them to ride around, lots of families were there, pets also welcome.
I will keep returning, we took 2 tents, 3 adults 1 child, 3 bikes and a car, all for £25 for the night! Where else can you get that? We had a barbecue Saturday evening, and listened to the music coming from the tent next to us whilst we played cards. This site is what camping is about.

Stayed here for 4 nights in a Caravan having previously stayed several times in a tent.
A lovely flat and well kept site. An excellent children's play area, and friendly staff. The toilets are excellent and for the most are always kept very clean.
Bala is a short drive away, which has everything you may need.
No strict adherence to pitches for the tent and a laid back attitude mean we will return again.

Lovely site with all the amenities you need for a fantastic holiday. Our only gripe was the 'security' on the gate which, we understand to be the owners. Our party was travelling in separate cars on separate days. We booked and paid for both parties on our arrival. However when the remainder of our family arrived the following day they were not permitted to enter the site until we arrived at reception to show our 'yellow ticket' which was in our car. This is all well and good but we had locked our keys in our car and could not gain access immediately and therefore our party was not permitted to enter the site, very bizarre.
However given our inconvenience we had a fantastic break and would definitely go back again. Incidentally, if like us, you have second car parked on your pitch it is an additional £3.00 per night.
Lovely campsite, lovely views, peaceful lake with lots of fun to be had. We stayed on a very busy bank holiday weekend, the weather was fantastic and lots of social people on the site. PS. Although the facilities do get cleaned there are a few cobwebs above doors etc.

I just wanted to add to previous reviews to say that this site IS as good as people say. We had beautiful weather which always helps of course but I couldn't fault the site at all.
Bala is a nice little place to visit - we bought a new dinghy which was really reasonable & also enjoyed some yummy ice creams.
The view from the camp site is amazing & the lake was so peaceful, especially if you go out in a boat.
We found the other campers really friendly - our theory was that, as most people were there for the canoeing, they were a pretty civilised bunch with no 'rough' elements at all. We heard little night-time noise & everyone seemed really relaxed

Second visit and this time we got the glorious sunshine! Very busy weekend but no queues for showers and always very clean. Despite the crowds it was quiet from 11:00pm and everyone was in bed (as most campers were tired from all the sailing and fishing on site that could be had whilst the weather was good). My only gripe is that some cars drive a bit fast on site despite the owners efforts to curb it and the signs clearly stating 5 miles per hour.
This site is really good and worth every penny I think, but it can be pricey for larger families as the costs are per unit and per head and so a week holiday may be pricey in comparison to other sites with a fixed per unit fee, however you get the lake, fishing and excellent facilities so its swings and roundabouts - this is certainly my favourite place in Wales at the moment and what it has to offer justifies any additional costs; I cant wait to go back and I would strongly recommend to all

A good site, sadly let down by the 'new' breed of campers who've bought their kit from Halfords and don't know (or care for) the rules of camping.
I saw lots of people cut through between tents to get to the toilet block, interrupting people's peace and tripping over guy lines.
And the 11pm quiet rule was also ignored. Happily this was much better when the riff raff left on Sunday.
The site could do with more washing up facilities, but other than that a great site.

Lovely site. Friendly staff and they were very helpful. Site was not very busy so we asked if we could camp near the lake and was told yes and given an area in which we could as we was having electric. Toilets and showers were extremely clean only downside was having to keep pressing the button for water but they were hot. Site shop sells basics but bala is not far if you need something more. The park is small but the kids liked it but did prefer to fish in the river. Would go back as it was a nice quiet relaxing weekend away.
