This is a lovely site, along the banks of the lake, which our 3 children enjoyed playing all weekend in.  The playground is near the entrance to the site, but children are to be supervised when using this facility anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem.  The shower blocks and toilet facilities were basic and not very clean, the showers were too hot for our 2 year old to use.
It is a lovely and quiet site during the day, but can get a little noisy during the evening.

We have been visiting this site now for the last couple of years and always enjoy our stays.

The Toilet and Shower blocks are always clean and we've never had to queue even over a busy Bank Holiday weekend.

The kids love the fact that they can play all day in the lake and even on a busy weekend there is still plenty of space for them to play. (we have 4 aged between 7 & 12)

The owners are always very helpful and pleasant which adds to the relaxing environment of the site.

I note the comment made previously about the road running past the site where some of the hard standing pitches are. We have actually camped in the section nearest the road and even during the busy August bank holiday when the weather was fantastic the road wasn't all that busy.

All in all Glan Llyn provides a lovely quiet site for all that family. Bala is also a beautiful area to visit.

Recently spent a weekend at this site , booked after viewing on the internet and although a bit aprehensive, the site appeared all good on arrival.
The beauty of this site is its Bala lake location , its virtually on the banks!
Shower block a bit basic but reasonably clean but not up to CC standards, although there was a good childrens playground that our 8 & 3 year olds loved!
We stayed on a hardstand pitch, but these either back onto the main road through the site or onto a busy road skirting the site, although it never botherd us, in peak seasons it may be an issue, the other hardstands that do not bound these routes appear to be taken by annual pitchers that leave the van there all year round!
I went fishing with my son on the other side of the lake, a small picnic area with a jetty - a really peaceful location to spend some great quality time !
All in all though a good site, would we return? Probably yes, but I'd make sure we got a pitch away from the roads!

Loved this site - despite it being very busy on the day we arrived, it didn't bother us that much - toilets were clean and well maintained - didn't have to queue once for toilets or showers.

Well stocked shop and friendly owner.

Only complaint really was the childrens playground was situated next to the main entrance so there were always cars coming in and out which didn't really help the safety aspect - however the children preferred the lake to the playground anyway so it didn't matter.

Would recommend this site without hesitation.

Lovely site - although it was busy, especially at weekends, it wasn't crowded or noisy.
Very easy access to the lake - and a lot of time was spent in the water.   We had loads of fun, and it was obvious other people were having the same - just messing in the water, or with small dinghys.   (As well as those with properly into sailing and windsurfing.)
The children also have a wonderful time, playing on their scooters with other children.   All seemed to play together without disturbing people.
Washing up area and laundry room was lovely and clean.   Washing machines were not expensive (£2), and the driers were £1 for 20 minutes.
The toilet and showers were nice and clean, with plenty of loo paper.  The only possible downside was that some of the showers were a little on the hot side - especially if you had children.
We are hoping to get back fairly soon.

Brilliant campsite, couldnt have been nearer the lake side, just a stones throw away, shower and toilet facilities clean and tidy.  went to a little pub called the eagles inn, about 10mins down the road, execellent food and prices very good. Overall I would recommend this campsite, for adults and children of all ages.

We've just had a very nice weekend here. The site was full on the Saturday night but we never felt over crowded. The toilet and shower blocks seemed to be up to the numbers and I never needed to wait for any facilities, plus they were usually nice and clean. My only gripe was the bins area was overflowing by Sunday and a real mess - but saying that they are not too close to any pitches to be a real worry.

We pitched right on the lakeside in a great spot where the kids could play at the waters edge. The ground was quite tough for pegs and I ended up with a few snapped plastic ones and bent wire ones so go prepared.

There were lots of people on the site with boats, wind surfers and other water sports kit - if the weather is nice, take your swimming costumes, wetsuits and dinghies etc. It was also a great site for kids - they could play happily without being a nuisance for others. The play area however is not ideally located right by the entrance and main road - even before the reception building.

Our nice waterside pitch had one problem - the winds picked up and we had quite strong winds and heavy rain - our pitch was very exposed as the wind was coming straight across the lake and so we ended up parking the car behind the tent to provide some protection overnight.

A word of caution - MIDGES. They were everywhere and we needed to keep the insect mesh doors closed on the tent at all times. Our gazebo was full of the things. Nobody seemed to be getting bitten, but there were loads of them. We also saw quite a few mosquitoes.

One final positive for us was that we asked what time we had to leave on the Sunday and were told that there was no rush. We usually struggle to be ready by the usual time on other sites so this was heavenly. I guess they can't do this in peak season if they are very busy, but the site was almost empty when we left so such a simple gesture cost the site nothing, but earned loads of credit in my book.

My vote - we'll be going back

Just spent a night here with my family. I was impressed with the site, having been before approx 7 years ago. The site is very flat and just next to Bala Lake. The grass is kept neater than I remember which was good in the mornings as the dew dried quite quickly. The facilities are ok. There are about three blocks next to each other with toilets and showers. The water was hot but just about tolerable! We pitched fairly near the amenities and were not disturbed once by people coming and going. I was surprised how quiet it was for July.
The next tent was about 20 metres away and the site was mainly taken up with camper vans and some permanent pitch caravans. There were no facilities for bathing children but the dishwashing facilities were good, being indoor and clean. Not sure if it was just the day we were there but jets practice around the valleys which can be quite loud but didn't put us off.
Not a lot to do in the immediate area if you aren't into watersports but we did have a look at the Bala Lake Railway at one of the villages on the opposite side of the lake but the journey itself takes an hour in total which is quite a long time for a 2 year old to sit still, so we didn't make the journey.

Stayed at this site for the Easter weekend and really enjoyed it. Busy but not overcrowded in fact tents were being turned away but if you ask me they could have fitted quite a few more on but what do I know! Our two small children loved the small playground and enjoyed the stony beach on site especially as we took a dinghy. Bala town was only 5mins away by car and Barmouth wasn't too far away which was great for kids. We would definitely go back.

Bank Holiday stay - so very busy, but nevertheless not overcrowded. Basic site, clean toilets/showers, rubbish area overflowing. Could not find any "Dog Poop" Bins anywhere on site. Sadly lacking any other litter bins except for one on children's play area. Lovely views from site, lot better when most of the site emptied after the bank holiday
