We really like this campsite and have been many times and have booked for this summer too.
Facilities are large & clean. Warm showers, nice washing up facility.
Owners are friendly and accommodating. Children are welcome and they do not mind ball games etc so long as they do not bother other campers but it is a large site so there is never an issue. BBQ fine just sensibly not on grass.
The site is right on the lake which is great for kids as it is shallow for a long way.
Close to Barmouth & other great beaches and plenty of other attractions.

We were booked in for 4 nights over the half-term. In the end because of the weather we left earlier because of the bad weather (storms and gales) heading in our direction.
Check-in was smooth, we were shown to our pitch. It is the first time on a site when we have not been told where the toilet blocks, water points and bins etc are. As units around us left it became obvious there were water points much closer to us than we thought!
Never needed to queue for a shower. It was all clean. Wish I'd taken my hair dryer as theirs were 20p but after 40p my hair was nowhere near dry, think it would have taken £1 and I don't have very long hair.
Generally the campsite was very quiet at night. It had a nice atmosphere during the day. The views were lovely, we could see the lake through the trees with the hills in the background.
As people packed up there became a large area in front of our tent where people could play ball games and fly kites, if the site was full there wouldn't be a lot of space for that. Our kids did use the playground as we went over and sat there whilst they played, not the best located one it has to be said.
I knew many of the places we wanted to go were roughly 30miles away in different directions but hadn't accounted for the very slow roads so it took a long time to get anywhere. For this reason I don't think we personally would return, it is also 5hrs from home and we like to try new places.
In lovely weather (it rained almost constantly) it would be wonderful, I had hoped the kids might be able to play around in the lake but it was too cold and wet for that. It's a perfect site if you love watersports and many of the campers had their own gear, you can also hire locally.

We Stayed here with some friends over a gorgeous sunny weekend in May.
We arrived Friday late afternoon and check-in was smooth and we were pointed in the direction of the camp field.
The Couple who run the site were friendly on arrival.
There is a small but seemingly well stocked shop in the main reception.
Its a good mostly flat site and there are even spots for Campervans to hook up right on the lake shore.
We picked a good spot close to the fence line below the caravans that look like they are resident there.
The Toilet block was clean, plenty of toilets and toilet roll on hand.
There were 3 showers in the toilet block but there is a separate Shower block which I guess opens when the park is busy. (Free Showers)
But none of us had to wait for a shower and there was plenty of hot water.
Signs advise that between 11am and 5pm the showers are unavailable but I think its more a case of no hot water between those times!
We could only find 1 water point and that was by the shower block which given the size of the site could be a stroll for some who need to fill up containers.
Noise levels at night were very low and campers were all respective of others.
There is a pavement should you fancy the walk in to bala as we did, its about 3. 5 miles.
There is also a bus (X94) that runs past the campsite which will pick up and drop off.
A lot of Campers brought their boats/kayaks etc here as you can gain access to the lake very easily. So Ideal if you enjoy your watersports.
All in all we enjoyed our weekend here and look forward to returning soon.

We chose this site for the Easter weekend. It is very pleasantly situated on the lake shore and the area set out for tents is closest to the lake on a flat field. The grass had been recently cut and the area to which we were shown did have clumps of reeds in amongst the grass. Careful pitching was needed as being cut they had very sharp points. We had an electric hook-up and there seemed to be ample points. The site is largely occupied by tourers.
There is a children's playground which is not very well sited. It occupies a spot just inside the gate, off the reception car park, close to the road. Despite having a 6 year old we did not make use of this. It was a case of out of sight(site) out of mind. The site was not busy on the camping field and it wasn't a problem playing ball games or flying kites etc and not annoying other campers. Plenty of other children took bikes and scooters which were fine except they insisted on riding them down the steep sloping footpath from the toilets to the site. This footpath is used by the majority of campers to access the facilities. There is one sign which says no cycling etc on any site footpaths but this was not being adhered to. We had occasion to report this activity at reception as we were forced off the path by speeding children. They were sympathetic at reception and although stated it is the responsibility of parents to monitor their children's behaviour, someone went to the area and moved them all on. It did re-occur but not on the same level.
The facilities were good and clean with ladies and gents toilets with showers and a separate block for each containing just showers and sinks. We didn't have to queue the water is hot and free and showering is permitted between 7am and 11am and 5pm and 10pm daily. There are hairdyers in the ladies at 20p. There is an indoor washing up area with five sinks and free hot water. There are also washing and drying machines in this area. I am not sure of the cost of these. Recycling is in place for glass, metal and plastic.
Reception has a small but well stocked shop for essentials and a bit more. Tourist information leaflets are also available.
Bala has plenty of shops and pubs including a Spar and Co-Op.
Water activities are available on the lake. We visited the North coast at Llandudno and the west coast at Porth Madog and Cricceith. You are also within striking distance of Canarvon and Harlec, Port Merrion (for which there is a charge to visit) and Snowdon. On wet days there are plenty of indoor activities, Electric Mountain, Slate mines etc. There is also a Go Ape close by.
On the Sunday evening it started to rain and continued through the night and all morning whilst we had to pack away. Unfortunately the ground water table rose quickly and we found that parts of our tents were sitting in pools of water up to 2 inches deep. Our part of the site became waterlogged. Apart from the snow on the previous Wednesday we have had a really dry March and I was a little surprised at how bad it got. The clue is in the reeds!
This a nice site in a central area convenient for many attractions. The downsides were the children riding the footpaths which was dangerous for them and pedestrians and the water on the final day. Whilst we cant change the weather I wouldn't want to camp here again unless I was reasonably sure of good weather or they improve the drainage. The sloping footpath can be sorted by adding a barrier half way down or some kind of obstruction to prevent it being so attractive to scooters and cyclists, more distinct signage, or perhaps regular warden walks.

A site in a wonderful location as regards to the views. Sat between a very pretty river & with direct access to Lake Bala, the site is a joy for lovers of watersports - kayaking, dinghy sailing, fishing are all on your doorstep.
Where the site suffers as regards to location is that it is isolated from 'somewhere to walk to in the evening', unless you have a car or are prepared to walk the hour each way into Bala (it was not practical for us in a motorhome to drive to Bala each evening).
The site shop sells a very reasonable range of fresh, frozen & sweet produce, as well as toys & games to keep the youngsters happy.
Kids have their own playground with swings & a slide. Dogs have their own walking area.
The toilets / shower blocks were adequate, but not much more - lights kept failing at night in the gents toilet & the shower (button push type) took several pushes to fully wash an adult man.
Overall, this is, in our opinion a 'nearly' site. It has so much going for it, and it nearly makes it to the list of sites we really must visit again.

Just spent 4 days/nights on this site. Booked in advance for first trip of the season, so slightly taken aback by the frosty reception, in every sense!
I couldn't do anything about the weather, but the welcome could have been a bit warmer. Short, sharp and to the point. Maybe we caught the lady on a bad day!
This is a lovely site, very well maintained and the tent pitches are excellent - well grassed (early season), plenty of electric hook-ups and well laid out so there's no need to be cramped by the neighbouring tents.
Toilets and showers are well maintained, though the toilet blocks were messy early in the mornings and aren't attended. Also, the blocks are a good walking distance from the tent pitches, so be prepared!
There's a decent sized dishwashing block, with washing machines and dryers as well. The only downside was that 3 of the 5 dishwashing sinks were effectively 'out of action' for three days due to there being no hot water supply to them, which caused major queueing at peak times, morning and evening.
The website states it is a family site, doesn't entertain groups and requires residents to keep the noise down after 23:30hrs - the latter was not enforced, and our neighbours exploited this to the full. Music and singing until 03:30hrs. Still, it made for a short night!
I would definitely visit again though, to make more use of the lake and the surrounding hills which are stunning.

This is a fantastic campsite. We stayed for a week here during the summer holidays and I can safely say this is the best campsite we’ve stayed at. Lots of room during the week and even when it filled up at weekend it didn’t feel crowded.
Facilities are really good. You’ve got separate men’s and ladies’ toilet blocks both of which have showers, as well as a separate shower block in between.
Plenty of toilets and showers to go around, we never had to queue, and they were always clean. Showers are free, and there are restrictions on the times these can be used but despite this there were no problems ever getting a shower if you needed one and the water was always hot and plentiful.
The site is really neat and well cared for. In addition to the showers there is a small, well stocked shop (we bought wet shoes from there and they were cheaper than Bala town), dishwashing area, laundry, a small play park which caters for young and old children, and a dog park.
Around the edge of the site is a small stream which is nice and shallow so the kids can paddle, but deep enough that you can get a kayak down it (just!), and launch facilities from the beach by the lake. The easy access to watersports is one of the best features of the site. Fishing, paddling, swimming, kayaking, boat launching are all easily achieved from the campsite beach, and if you just wanted to sit back and enjoy the beautiful views that’s available too!
Overall the site was nice and quiet during the evening (I think we might have been the noisiest family on site!), and during the day we were treated with the occasional flyover from Eurofighters – there must be an airforce base nearby. No flyovers after 5pm or on weekends. The kids absolutely loved it.
Bala town is about 3 miles away and easily accessible by car. In town you have a wide selection of shops including antiques/bric-a-brac, a co-op for groceries, you can buy boats and boating equipment (lift jackets and the like), and there’s a nice range of eateries and souvenir shops. We didn’t eat in town, so I can’t vouch for the quality of the food.
Nearby attractions include Caernarfon (about 45 minutes drive), the Ffestiniog mountain railway, Harlech Castle and the seaside resort of Barmouth which is a bit of a hidden gem (a suntrap, nice and quiet and lovely fish & chips) so even if the weather is a bit iffy at the campsite, there’s lots to do elsewhere.
Climbing and walking is also excellent in the area – Cadair Idris is only a few miles away, accessible from the nearby town of Dolgellau and is a great climb achievable in about 4-5 hours. Not for the faint-hearted but well worth it for the amazing views.
We had an absolutely fantastic time at this site. If I had any criticism it would be that I would have liked Bala to be within closer walking distance, but I guess the site owners can’t be blamed for the geography! Would come back here in a heartbeat.

A great visit to this great site!
We were 3 tents and a caravan that turned up on a friday evening looking for camping for 2 nights (this was due to our booked campsite being less than satisfactory in more ways than 1!)
We were welcomed and accommodated with ease despite how busy they were, and were able to pitch together due to the clever layout of the site.
The Kids loved the park and stream/lake to play in which was a big bonus. Also we had dogs with us which were welcome - a small exercise area is provided and they were requested to be on leads around the site.
Site facilities were clean, and cleaned regularly, free hot showers (at specific times morning and evening). The small shop on site was handy but not the cheapest.
There are plenty of activities to do in the area - we were white water rafting on Sunday, and had a choice of great hill walks on Saturday.
Bala village is 3miles away and has everything you need for a weekend or even longer stay. There is a small shop on the left hand side of the main street (if heading away from this campsite) where they sell lots of camping stuff for very reasonable prices!
We will be coming back here!

Have stayed on this campsite twice this summer. Can only stress what a lovely, calming, relaxed and well ran campsite this is.
Views around the campsite are fantastic.
The campsite is kept immaculately clean including the toilet blocks and shower blocks which are separate. The shower block is open of a morning and evening only which should guarantee hot water.
Don't know if it was a coincidence but the 2 weekends we stayed their (the first being a weekend were tri-athletes were using the campsite as a base)the campsite was never over crammed so there was plenty of room for the children to play and investigate without any need for concern.
Bala Lake can be accessed from the campsite, it is also perfectly based to visit other places.
The beaches of Barmouth just 30 mins down the road.

Great location at South of Lake Bala on the West side of the lake offering fantastic views of Lake and surrounding mountain range. Site has direct access to the lake via a beach enabling boat/kayak launching. Well sized mainly level pitches, four motorhome sites directly by side of beach.
The site is located 3 miles South of Bala village with shops, bars and eateries. Footpath/cycle lane directly to Bala village, but is by side of very busy and fast main road. No footpath by side of Lake.
Pitch have EHU but no TV supply. WiFi is available but limited in it’s range from reception. The small shop in reception provides the basic requirements. Toilet/service blocks (– 3nr) are located in one central area providing WC’s showers per male/female block – clean but basic. !)
The washing up, laundry and chemical disposal point within same toilet block area – which is a bit of a hike if you are on the perimeter of the site.
Showers have limited time period of use (i.e not between not before 7am and not between 11am and 5pm !
The only niggle is the site only has one service tap for motorhome water supplies (located by the toilet block), which is very slow running and access to the grey waste is very tight/impossible.
Will be back to this site due to the great location and access to Lake Bala
