Stayed at the site for 3 nights the two us and three dogs for £20 a night. The showers and toilets were excellent with plentiful hot water. The campsite itself is picturesque and has 5 hobbit like pods available at £40 a night which were large and would work out if you wanted to try the kids out at pretend camping without roughing it. As an alternative would suit a blokes golf or fishing trip where you are just looking for somewhere to crash for a tenner a night each.
The pub at the end of the site was fine but doesn't do food in the week. Slightly disappointed to find only one real ale on offer but it was on good form. A word of warning if coming from Whitby with a caravan there is a very steep hill a mile before the site. All in all a good site with friendly wardens and clean and powerful showers nice aspect and would certainly return.

Just returned from a two night break at this charming site. Had a great pitch with uninterrupted views of the North sea except for the occasion brown cow in the next field. Excellent facilities so clean well maintained. Well worth a return visit.
Do hope the Village gets back a local shop. Not a problem if you are a caravan visitor. Bit of a pain in a motorhome.

The campsite will be pretty when the trees that have been planted grow a bit and there is a lovely view from some of the plots. However, we had a hard standing which was double size, you could peg the awning down but the hard core that was down was so large that we had to clear much of it before we could put the awning floor covering down, that said, it still punctured our plastic and it hurt your feet when you walked on it and we also have a tent carpet!
Definitely book a grass one if you have an awning to avoid this problem, great for motorhomes though. On many occasions there was no toilet roll in many of the toilets (ladies) and they weren't particularly clean, neither were the washbasins. The showers were of a good size with lots of hot water. We found the site too far to walk into Sandsend, especially with children and all the paraphernalia you would need for a day at the beech, the hill is very steep also. The pub wasn't to our taste either, preferring the Hart inn in Sandsend.

Stayed for 2 nights in the one of the camping pods. Clean and tidy pod and was heated when we arrived (in the dark and rain). Lovely views of the sea in the daylight :)
The toilet / shower block is easily the cleanest, most comfortable one we have ever seen - and we do a lot of camping!
Amazing food at The Stiddy pub (2 mins walk).
Nice walk down to the coast and beach - very steep on the way back but a few beers soon helped :)
Highly recommended

Lovely site with excellent facilities. We, and the dog were made to feel very welcome. Sadly, there was no facility for freezing our ice packs. And what a disappointment to find that the pub only opened at 7 pm and didn't serve food. Only at weekends apparently. The village itself was lovely with a very convenient bus service to both Runswick Bay and Whitby. It was great to be able to leave the car behind for a couple of days! The warden was very helpful in finding a bus time table and a leaflet outlining some local walks.
We will definitely be back and hope that the pub will be serving food!

Had four days at Lythe. The campsite is well kept and tidy. The welcome was warm and the information given was good. The toilet block was kept clean although with kids returning from the beach there was a lot of sand in the showers. The pub just off site was excellent, hand pull beer and a good menu with man sized portions. The icing on the cake was the availability of buses to and from Whitby and also in the other direction, great for walkers. On our list as somewhere to return to.

Excellent quiet campsite - only campsite close to Whitby that caters for families with more than one dog (well done to the lovely owners). Close to Sandsend Beach and lots of lovely surrounding walks. Facilities of high standard would definitely go there again.
Spacious pitches and clean and tidy - small friendly site. Caters for all.
Site close enough to drive easily into Whitby - can walk to Sandsend with the dogs but for very young children would need to take care. Plenty of parking there though, some of it free.

We've just returned come home from a two night stay at Lythe and we shall certainly be returning. We found it to be a lovely site. It's really pretty with a lovely glimpse of the sea(the photos don't do it justice at all). There is a lots of shelter from the elements with large hedges and trees and it is way back from the main road which makes it feel very secluded. The toilet block was clean but did run out of hot water later in the morning on our first day. The showers were spacious, with a chair to put your clothes on to keep them from the flood on the floor, but it really could do with some duck boards so that you don't have to stand in everyone's soapy water. I spoke to the manager about the drainage in the showers and she assured me they were fixing it today - I have no reason to doubt them as the camp site was so well looked after otherwise. It's less than 5 mins from Sandsend by car (too steep to walk up Lythe bank with a 5yr old!). Great little site.

Just returned from a long weekend in one of the camping pods. This is a superb little site that we will definitely be returning to. The pod was amply sized for 2 adults and our teenage daughter but would be very cosy for a larger family. The pods have heating, lighting and power sockets and include a pub-style table and bench outside. Despite the site being very busy, there were no queues for the (immaculate) showers & toilets. Showers are free and there seemed to be an endless supply of hot water. There is also a pot washing room. The hosts were on-site and very friendly. The Stiddy pub provides lovely home-cooked food and you are assured of a warm welcome from the owner. The site and pub are both dog- friendly; dogs have to be tethered on site and it was nice to see that this was adhered to. Our dog made full use of the adjacent field which ensured he had a good run off the lead in an enclosed, gated field.
Cannot fault this lovely site.

A fantastic base for exploring the north Yorkshire moors and Whitby.
Staff were very helpful and accommodating for our needs. We gave plenty of notice that we would arrive at 2300 on Friday night and they were totally fine with it, they pitched us in a nice quiet area so as not to disturb other site users.
This is a relatively new site and so facilities were very modern, new, plenty full and clean. Prices were extremely reasonable.
We will definitely be staying again when back in the area.
Only reason for 7/10 for child friendliness was because there didn't seem to be much for kids to do on site unless parents provided some ball, toys etc to play with.
Would like to thank the owners for a lovely stay. Nick and Nat
