Great site in a lovely area with panoramic sea views, especially from the top field area.
Sandsend is about a mile down the road, and the site is handy for Whitby, Runswick Bay and Staithes.

We are delighted to confirm that this site has reopened under new management, and once again offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches.

Campsite toilet facilities lovely and clean. Was covid safe.
We enjoyed our stay even though the weather was bad and made the site very muddy. Not campsites fault just our typical weather.
Site is Not far from Whitby town centre in a car.

This our 7th stay at Lythe, it's great place.
Facilities cleaned daily. Site bus stop close to Whitby etc
Gin distillery on end - nice pub when allowed to open.
We have nothing but praise, nice quaint site, great facilities out look over sea. We met lots nice people on there over years. Good luck to new tenants

Very basic site with very small sloping pitches, expensive for a basic site.
Views from site fantastic, would help if the hedge could be cut down so the view can be seen easily.
Did not use the facilities as we had our own but husband looked into the facilities block and commented that they were spotless and well heated

Clean and tidy, a really pleasant stay.
This site is in a wonderful spot with some spectacular sea views and marvellous walks nearby.
The gin distillery at the end of the lane made up for the pub being closed due to coronavirus

We had 5 days here. 3 on hard standing and 2 on grass. Pitches aren’t particularly level but with chokes etc we managed. Wouldn’t like to be on grass during wet weather as they could get churned up quite bad.
All in all this wasn’t a bad site, ideally located for Whitby, Saltburn etc. Loads of nice walks and a good regular bus service. Shower and toilet block were ok and yes hot water was an issue but manageable.
Covid restrictions meant taking your own toilet paper and hand towels but not really an issue.
We would probably stay here again.

Well located site to visit Whitby and North York Moors. Good toilet block with excellent showers.
Grass pitches would struggle if it gets really wet - and you might need blocks for your motorhome wheels.

This was not the Lythe for me.
We were really looking forward to camping since we haven’t been able to go away due to Covid. We usually go camping multiple times a year. The lady who greeted us was very nice and told us all info we needed. We were allocated pitch 27 which is round the back on a track channeled between two rows of trees. Meaning there is absolutely no outlook of the sea whatsoever and little sun. I would recommend if you do book here to request not to be on pitches 19 - 29. The views on the otherside of the campsite are very nice so it was a shame to be blocked by trees.
Our pitch itself was very muddy and uneven we had two tents on one pitch but we couldn’t set them up how we would have liked with a communal eating area in the middle as we would have just been sat in a mud pit. We asked if we would be able to move however the lady didn’t have access to the computer to see whether we could do this or not. She did ring Dave who said he wouldn’t be able to check if we could change pitch till after 7pm when he’d be back at the computer. We were offered a full refund, however we had all booked time off work and this being our only holiday (which we did book in advance) we knew that we wouldn’t be able to get in anywhere else - we did ring a few places to check so leaving with a refund wasn’t really an option for us.
All the pitches on the otherside of the trees were a lot better and seemed in much better condition, probably because they actually see sunlight.
The toilet facilities are fine however hot water was an issue throughout our stay, if you had a shower at 7am it was generally ok however after this water was quite cold. When trying to wash up later on there was absolutely no hot water at all. In present times I would have thought hot water would be essential.
The toilets did get quite dirty throughout the day they were cleaned once between 12 & 2pm.
We did like the local area, Saltburn was very nice. However we will definitely not be returning to this site.
