We spent two nights here prior to the Bank Holiday weekend. The site itself is quite nice and has the potential to be a good spot once a few of the teething troubles of it being a new site have been ironed out.
There are apparently lots of problems with the hot water system and by 10am the water was stone cold. Also, the pitches are far too close together. The central area isn't too bad, though I chatted to some people pitched there who were grumbling about being cramped with caravans having no room to put up awnings etc.
Unfortunately we were on the track to the pub where there was only 4ft between the tents and only 3ft of grass in between our tent door and the dirt track that cars use to access the area. So the view from our tent was of the dirt track and an 8ft high hedge at the other side of it and if we sat outside we were literally at the side of the road.
We had booked in for 3 nights but left a day early because being pitched so close to a large family with 4 adults, a dog and 4 children didn't make for the chilled out break we had hoped for. Granted it's the school holidays and we expected that there would be lots of families there, and I also wouldn't say that the family we were next to were inconsiderately noisy at all, it's just that we were so close together that you could hear every single word, every cry, every bark, night and day. We spoke to the manager on the morning that we left and explained why we were leaving early. He offered us two free nights later in the season but we wouldn't go back unless we were guaranteed to be in the main part of the site and had a lot more room.
We didn't eat in the pub but we did have a drink in there on our first night and all the food coming out of the kitchen looked very nice. A word of warning about the buses - they are really expensive! We didn't want to drive so got the bus to Runswick Bay which is only 10mins, but was £11. 20 return for 2 adults. The return fare to Whitby for 2 adults was £9. 80 and it is more than twice the distance so I'm not sure how that works. The bus stops are really handy though and the buses are every 30mins until early evening.
If you are booking, do ask to not be on the track to the pub, though the far end of it, near the pub itself, opens up a bit and isn't too bad because car access to that bit is from the side of the pub, whereas the main part of the track, where we were, is accessed through the main site and is a dead end, with no room to turn a car around or park at the side of your tent if it's full.
There were only 3 showers in the ladies but I think 5 toilets, all of which were basic but clean. There are only 3 sinks though so there was a queue for brushing teeth in the morning. There are also only 2 washing up sinks and currently no work surfaces in the washing up room, but the room clearly isn't finished and it looks like they might be going to plumb a washing machine in so they'll probably put a work surface over that which will help.
Firepit hire was very expensive at £15 for one night or £25 for two, and a £50 deposit. We camped in Durham last month and paid £2 per night for a firepit. Mind you, we couldn't have had one without risking setting ours or our neighbours tents on fire because of the lack of space!
We didn't enjoy our stay and for what it currently offers, it's definitely not worth £25 a night, but I do think if they avoid the temptation to cram people in and can sort the hot water out, it has the makings of a nice little site.

Lythe Caravan and Camping site was a lovely, clean and friendly campsite. The staff were very polite and helpful, the bathrooms were clean all the time as was the rest if the site. With the pub just at the end of the path it was very handy, the food in the pub was delicious, with a very welcoming atmosphere. I would recommend that the pub be opened on a morning as me and my party did not have any cooking facilities with us and took a 20 minute walk down a steep bank to get to a cafe, this is not a great problem if your ok to drive! There is a shop over the road from the campsite which sold a wide variety of things, which was handy. Over a very good experience, will most probably visit there again for a pleasant weekend away.

St arrived back after two nights at Lythe Caravan and Camping. We were made very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite rain, rain and more rain. Pods are certainly the place to be when it's cold and rainy outside. Clean and comfy we were very pleased with our first pod experience.
The shower block/toilets were clean and there was plenty of space and a hairdryer in the ladies. Washing up area was nice also and has two kitchen sinks which are also clean and pleasant.
Location is excellent and very handy for many little coastal areas such as Sands end which is also visible from the campsite.
Only concern if any was the muddiness which is a direct result of the awful rain and is largely unavoidable.
The Stiddy is the pub on site and is lovely, apparently the food is amazing but evening meals are only served on Wed Thurs Fri and Saturday (we stayed Sun to Tues).

Spent 5 nights here recently good location, friendly staff, this the plus side! the down side :- site was untidy/muddy the roads/paths around the site were made of very rough hardcore, hard to walk on bad to drive on. As for the sea views I had to use my binoculars! after the site manager cut a hole in the hedge! @ £20. 00 per night, I would put this site as a 2 star rating & in the £10/12 price range in its present state. The site Manager was quick to point out that the site was in need of further work to its finish, its a pity that the fees did not reflect this!

When we arrived we were disappointed to find the site wasn't totally finished, this mainly been the grass wasn't grown, the road and hard standings were still muddy etc. and having 2 dogs this was a bit of an issue for us, however it was the first weekend the site had opened and the recent bad weather obviously hadn't helped in getting everything completed but the manger was very apologetic and did everything he could to help.
The site is in a lovely location in a nice little village and the surrounding area is very picturesque, some of the pitches including ours have a lovely sea view. There is a big field right next to the site where you can exercise dogs which is really handy.
The toilets and showers are brand new and enough for the size of the site.
The manager is really helpful and friendly he also the landlord of the local pub which is nice, they serve food and children and dogs are welcome and all the locals were friendly.
The walking is great, only about 25 minutes to Sandsend and plenty of other walks including the Cleveland Way.
All in all I'd say this site has a lot of potential to be a great little site and just needs to get over the initial teething problems, however all those aside it wouldn't put us off revisiting and the manager is trying his best to get everything right.
