What a wonderful Easter weekend we've just had at this site! I love it here (so much so, that I store my caravan here all year)! If you are looking for entertainment and a club house then this one isn't for you. It's a no frills, safe, friendly, clean, level site. The toilets and showers are clean and basic and you may have to que for a few minutes as there's only 2 dish washing sinks. But hey, you're one holiday. So chill out :0) I'll return in May. Many thanks to the owners and staff. We appreciate all you do.

We arrived at this site as were disappointed in the one we had actually booked for ! We had a lovely pitch at the top field near entrance. Toilets very basic but adequate and there was lots of space for the children to play and a play park but that was quite a way from our pitch. very friendly and welcoming made new friends loved the area lots to do. definitley go there again

Space available here when everywhere else booked. Having stayed there I see why! Full of families with young children - very audible traffic noise from the dual carriageway until late at night and starting again early. Very basic and not enough toilets/showers - no toilet paper at all in the ladies in the morning. Restricted hot water to various times of the day. Expensive (£19.00) for just me and a two man tent for one night - although I was travelling with two dogs. All in all although I am in the area next week and need accommodation I have booked into bed and breakfast for almost the same price and without the traffic noise, children playing until gone 10pm around my tent and screaming toddlers from 6am! If I was travelling with small children it would have been a much more successful site - playmates everywhere. Nowhere to walk the dogs without driving them off site - and the only exit to the site onto the dual carriageway - so no bike riding either.

First ever camping trip and loved it. Very basic which made it more like a proper camping trip than an easy holiday. I went with my Mum and my 7 year old son. We pitched just down from the shower block, had pick of the fields. Very quiet but extremely friendly people who have obviously been there many times before. I had to ask a "neighbour" to help with the first part of pitching u, but very eager to help.
Lots of play areas for the children, (football, cricket and golf was being played within eyesight)the playground area could be a bit more central but you cannot do much about that. Freezer store for ice packs, water etc and only 5p per item. Dishwasher area small, but you learn not to go first thing in the morning and do your dishes in the evening!
Central to Poole and Bournemouth and there is a Lidl, Sainsburys, Halfords within 2 mins drive.
Would highly recommend it for the proper camper who is not afraid of camping properly!

Stayed here many years ago when there was a huge party of us all with kids. I remember it being fairly basic but spacious. Went on spec for a long weekend and as all the New Forest sites were completely full, tried here. They had loads of space, especially surprising as this was the first week of the school summer holidays.
Main field was fairly full during the weekend but emptied out on the Sunday, the area we used had 3 units all weekend.pitch size was excellent, at least 8 metres across although I suspect this was the original electric area before hookups were installed in the main field. Pitches were flat, level, and well drained with a lot of electric hookups, a little bit of road noise from the A31 but otherwise quiet. The local shops including an excellent local bakery and a chinese takeaway both, a short walk through the subway under the A31. More takeaways are further west along the Bournemouth road along with a Harvester pub. Bikes for shopping etc are an advantage if you want to avoid walking or using the car. Portacabin toilet in our area was adequate if a bit small and I had to ask for the lights to be switched on, showers were basic but fine, not 5 star but on a par with the forestry sites. Very surprised that none of us had to queue for them in the mornings. As in previous reviews, dish washing facilities for a site of this size could be improved, still only 2 sinks. Pretty much all trips out will need a car, either the Bournemouth or Poole beaches or to the New Forest or West Moors country park but all less than 30 minutes away. Will definitely be back, maybe not as a main holiday but ideal for those extra long weekends.

We managed to book this site at the last minute even though everywhere else in the area was fully booked for the May bank holiday weekend. Nicely situated just outside the new forest area, but easy to get to, just off a small dual carriageway, with a big Sainsburys about a mile down the road, and a really good beefeater pub as well - we had a great meal in there - kids meals almost as big as the adults ! The site doesn't look that big from the drive, but once you go down the single track lane, it opens out into a large field, split into 3 / 4 areas. Although I had booked and asked for 2 pitches, together, they weren't allocated, so we had a job trying to find 2 together. The pitches ran down the sides of the fields, with room down the middle for games, Although where we pitched was by 2 football posts, and at the time of pitching our tent and limited pitches together, it didn't seem too bad, but as the evening wore on, the amount of children playing football increased. At 9.30pm there must have been over 30 children playing in this one small field - and it got a bit roudy, but after some heavy hinting from us and others they eventually packed up and the next evening they played down on the bottom field where there were less tents pitched and no young children to keep awake. The shower block was kept clean, and there was also 2 washing up areas, and a play area in the bottom field. Although there was quite a deep stream running across the bottom field - but it was cordoned off albeit with a string fence. Overall a quiet site - well maintained and kept clean. The pitches were flat, although we camped with some friends so we didn't mind our tents being close together, if you had a large tent like we did the pitches were a bit tight.

Hubby stayed here back in July with some friends and children and it was packed. They only stayed one night, so he didnt comment on facilities.
We returned in September with our toddler and had a lovely break. The site was practically empty and we pitched on the opposite side of the field to the toilets. No distance at all for visits to the facilities and so quiet as we were the only ones on that side. The toilets and showers were basic but ok but could have done with a bit of cleaning. The hand dryers didnt work at all and there was no soap, but thats easily rectified.
The childrens playarea was a little tired and needed some work to make it safe. I sound a bit negative but we liked this site and would visit again out of high season

We had our first camping experience here and stayed from 20-21 Aug. Quite busy but good availability when all the Forestry Comission campsites in the New Forest were full. It was £15.00 a night with electric hook up. We stayed at pitch no.57 - not too good for families with young children as the road in front of the pitch was used by many vehicles to get to different camping areas. The pitches in the central field near the shower block were more child friendly.
Some comments: - 2 dishwashing areas which meant we had to que every time we wanted to wash up. - Toilets and showers (the ladies anyway!) were cleaned once a day in the afternoon at about 3-ish. Cement floor. No hooks behind toilet doors. There is also no soap to wash your hands with. Toilet paper in 3 cubicles ran out. Hand dryer was not working. There were sockets for hair dryer. Mirrors were 2 'metal' tiles above each sink and hair dryer area. - The campsite was quite spacious (less than 6m between campers as it was a busy weekend) and our children enjoyed the play area. - Chap who was cleaning the toilets wasn't very friendly. Our son was desperate for the toilet and I asked if it was OK for him to use it and got this reply, "Yes, if you hurry." - The ladies at reception were lovely though. - Lots of shops nearby. I would use the car rather than walk as the A31 is a busy road. There's a Lidl about 2 minutes drive away.
Overall, we enjoyed the experience and we'll use this site again.

May 2005 This is a very reasonably priced campsite, better than I expected and very good for families.
My only crticism would be that the washing up area is quite small - but then we did visit on a Bank Holiday weekend.
On the positive side, the site is very conveniently located for both the New Forest and Bournemouth/Christchurch. Oh yes, and the local pub is only 10 minutes walk down the road!
I recommend this campsite.

July 2003 Not a bad site, a bit basic with quite an old fashioned toilet and shower block and washing up facilities. The toilets could have been kept a little cleaner and worryingly one night I went to the toilet block around 1am and all the lights were off, so take a torch! There was a decent sized childrens play area and pitches were generous so our children had enough room to play around the tent as well. The site has no shop but has a freezer for ice packs and there are shops nearby, over a busy dual carriageway! If I was in this area again I would probably look for a different site with more amenities, but would use this again if it was a weekend stay.7/10
