First time visitor to Horam Manor.
Friendly welcome on arrival and guided to our plot.
On first glance we wasn't very impressed with the site but after settling in, we couldn't really fault it.
Toilet/shower block clean and considering there is only 3 showers for the whole site. We didn't have to queue!
Playground looked a bit shabby, but the kids seemed to love it!
This site is great for a stroll to the shops, Pub or chippy. Or a short drive to Eastbourne for a day out.
On site we liked the nature trails and our girls loved riding in the forest. (excellent rates for horse riding)
I think we'll be back for a longer break next time.

This site is conveniently situated just off the road from Heathfield to Eastbourne, on the edge of the village of Horam. The site manager was friendly and came round to check everything was okay after we pitched. We visited in high season, August, and the site was full. The units were placed very close together, well within the minimum 3 metre limit, and this seemed to be due to two things - small pitches and overly large tents. The tents next to us were actually taking up significantly more space than our 7 metre motorhome, which is an interesting reversal of the expected norm.
The toilets and showers are not adequate for the number of people using the site, and one washer drier and small washing line are not enough either. The washing up space is too small and people were doing dishes in the laundry area. The site badly needs a second service block. The site is more set up for tents than for motorhomes or caravans, and there is only one fresh water supply tap which is rather inconveniently located on the far side of the service block, requiring a long hose to connect to it to fill water tanks. There are no hard-standings, which isn't a problem when the weather is dry as it was for our visit.
The site was very busy when we were there and there was a fair amount of noise from families with lots of children. This is only to be expected though, in August. There is plenty of space for kids to run around adjacent to the site, where there is also a recreation ground.
On the plus side, there are some nice walks starting from the site, past little fishing ponds and through trees and fields, which make a nice place to walk the dog, although she was not allowed off the lead, which is probably a good thing, as the odd Staffie or Rottweiler off-leash is not something one wants to come across too often. A charge of £1 is made to go on the 'nature trail' although it had no information boards and therefore was simply a nature WALK rather than a trail. You can do horse-riding from here as well.
There is a tearoom on-site too, overlooking one of the ponds. It seemed to have a good range of food, including cooked breakfasts. It is closed on Mondays.
Horam is a nice little village and there are plenty of outings in the vicinity. The South Downs are also easily accessible for walks, as is Brighton and Eastbourne for the seaside. Overall a good site, but perhaps not quite as good as it sounds on their website.

Just had a lovely 3 nights at Horam Manor. The family that runs the site are warm and friendly and gave advice on 2 occasions regarding the local area.
The toilet block is cleaned daily and the showers were always hot despite lacking in power (minor fault!) There are also some curtained sinks for washing/teeth cleaning.
Great place for taking a dog with a field next to the park for exercising and the pub in the village is also dog friendly which was great. The beaches around Pevensey Bay also allow dogs on them.
My only slight issue would be that if that site was full up not only would it be very busy and quite overcrowded but that the children really would not have anywhere to play. The field next door is fine for older kids but not for those that you really want to keep an eye on. Mine played in pitches that were not in use as did most other children and they did wander to see the horses, but the play area is very tired and did not really get used.
Having said that we did all have a great time and it is a good central site for exploring the local area.

This was our first and last visit to this campsite. My electric hook up did not work. Luckily I used my leisure battery. When I did discuss this with the owner the next morning I was not treated particularly well. The site is largely targetted for tents. The pitches are large however, people just pitch anywhere and subsequently you can find yourself within a couple of feet of another unit which is very uncomfortable especially as people just wander through your pitch inches from your van /awning etc. There is no privacy at all. The site states 90 pitches but you are given a map which shows 120?? How ever many there are there is only 1 toilet block. In real terms 3 sit down toilets/ 3 showers in the mens block to service all those customers. Far too few. The site just looks like it needs a damn good clean/spruce up and simply organised properly. The areas around the lakes and 'cafe' are pretty poor.
It was nice to see all the kids running and having the freedom that every camping holiday should provide and the 'Quiet time' of 1030 works very well and all falls pretty quiet. We arrived when the funfair was there literally at the entrance of the site and all day and up to 1030pm all your hear is the thumping music great eh? So check when you book if the fun fair is due then. For campers ensure you bring levellers. The pub in the village does provide good service and food. Overall a disappointing site and one which I would neither recommend or visit again.

This is a wonderful campsite with excellent facilities.
I found it hard to fault this site.
The price was good at just £21.50 per night for 2 adults and 2 kids with EHU.
The facilities were spotless. Yes as a previous reviewer said the showers are lacking in power but they were hot, clean, free and I'd say more than adequate.
As has been said the site is slightly sloping but not noticeable.
10.30pm is quiet time and it does just go quiet after this time, unlike some sites I've been to.
The location was good too, easy walking distance to the village of Horam and great for exploring Sussex.
Negatives: Can't really think of any.
I would definitely recommend this site.

Well, this was our first visit to this camp site and both us and the 3 children really enjoyed our stay. The toilets and shower facilities were cleaned every morning - even the cobwebs that were put up the day before were removed! The staff were friendly and very helpful. The play area could do with an update but other that the site in general is fab! The children loved seeing the horses and had plenty of space to run around. We will be going back in a weeks time.

Just back from a fantastic weekend at this site.
Hadn't been camping for 5 years but this weekend reignited the camping bug.
Lovely site, just outside the village. First weekend of the school holidays, the site was busy, but the pitches are fairly large,so didn't feel hemmed in.
Wonderful field next to the site, perfect for the kids to play in or to let the dog off the lead for a run around.
Shower/toilet block nice and clean, though we did run out of hot water, that was immediately fixed by the warden.Block a tad small for the site, but avoid peak showering times and its fine.
Great nature trails near the fishing lakes, both times we took the dog on them we met no one else, great for photographs, especially the bugs and fish.
If you walk into the village,go up to the lakes and turn right at the horse stables, and past the old cider factory(though closed there's still a shop at the end selling cold beers and wines)this cuts of the corner and is a nice shortcut.
The Horam inn just along on the right is a great pub, dogs are very welcome. And pay a visit to the village stores, its like stepping back in time.
Definitely a site to return to time and again.

Have just returned from a short 4 day break. Absolutely fabulous time! The facilities were excellent, spotlessly clean toilets and showers with constant hot water all the time.
The nature trails and fishing lakes offered peace and quiet and the dog loved it as much as we did!
The site is very well run and a tribute to the hard-working owners and warden. We will be returning very soon

On arrival to this site we were greeted by very friendly staff who booked us in and showed us were our pitch was. We knew almost instantly this was not the site for us. We were so close to the tent in the immediate pitch we could clearly hear the noisy snoring from the tent and its occupants inside our campervan. We felt that if we put a table this way or that it would encroach upon the next tent/campervan section. Some owners thought it fine to allow their dogs to bark constantly without checking their dogs behaviour, perhaps the owners of the site need to enforce the rules for the site a little more. Children running around the site late at night making noise is not my idea of a peaceful getaway. Folks having late night drinks and lots of noise to go with it is not my idea of a peaceful weekend. As I say none of the above my idea of peace and relaxation. Perhaps the site owners could enforce the quiet times a little more.
Good points for the site: Close proximity to nice foresty walks and nice big fields for the dog. Friendly staff.
Nice clean showers, toilets, etc. I've tried to review this site from my own personal camping preference whilst also considering what other folks like to get out of camping.

Just returned from a fantastic stay at Horam Manor. The facilities are great, the site spotless and the walks were absolutely wonderful, with great buttercup covered fields nearby with great views. We took the nature trail which really did make you forget the hustle and bustle of normal life! The owners were lovely and when our EHU went kaput they came to the rescue immediately and lent us one.
Can't wait to go back and will be booking for longer before the weeks out!
