This was an excellent site. It is the first time I have been camping outside of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme so my first relaxing camping trip which I went on with my boyfriend. We went for the bank holiday weekend, my boyfriend wanted to start fishing again after about 10 years off. He / we caught about 30 fish, including some carp and lots of trench. I thought this was excellent for a first go!
The toilet and shower facilities were good. Plenty of toilets and sinks (which even had privary curtians which I thought was a nice touch). Never had to queue for toilets or sinks but on the second morning (out of two) I did have to queue for the shower so maybe that could be improved. Washing up facilities great. The have a BBQ hiring facility for £5 a go but we used a disposable, who wants tp clean a BBQ?!
Spending one day on a fishing lake, we spent the other exploring a little. We went on the nature trail which was beautiful, bluebells everywhere, and walks round the other fishing ponds. We then ventured into the village which was generally closed up being a sunday. There is a tesco metro in nearby Heathfield which we drove past on the way.
Think thats about it, no criticism apart from our own lack-of-camping-experience mistakes ie wil bring a windbreaker and air mattress. We comfortably fit our 3 person tent and small car (Citroen C2) in the pitch which would have fitted the same again, but can imagine why other people with families and large tents/caravans may think the pitches are small.
We plan to go back in a couple of weeks so in all a good impression!

We've stayed here loads, and apparently it's the best in the area. Great for kids (until bedtime, when they won't go!), and a good atmosphere. My main concern, and the reason I may try another site this year, is that there are only 3 showers and 3 toilets for each sex and they are cleaned at 11am. This means that by 8am the next day, they are filthy! They could relly do with one block for each field. Apart from that though, this is a good site and I'm sure we'll end up there again!

Lovely and quiet site. May need another toilet block when it gets busier though. We really enjoyed the campsite itself. The owners were lovely. As it was quiet we could pick what pitch we wanted. Some pitches were sloping and uneven. The showers and toilets were clean. Fish and chip shop in the village was nice but pricey, as was the rest of the shops in the village so you will need to take your provisions or prepare to drive to a larger town for a supermarket. Great for a quiet weekend getaway. Will be returning.

Had a short break here over the half term holidays. Very nicely kept site, and very helpful friendly owners. We were able to choose our own pitch as it was very quiet. The local village is small but you can get anything you need for a short break. The pubs seemed friendly and the one we went to allowed children. Just outside the camp site is a small playground for the younger children.

Visited just for a weekend and whilst the back field was quite busy, the front one wasn't and were able to choose a good pitch. Owners were very helpful and friendly and kept the site very tidy. Toilet and washing up blocks were kept clean but agree that there could be a few more showers. Think there could be big queues in the main summer holiday months. Also, the water in the showers tended to be scorching hot in the morning but ran out later in the day! One of my girls had a freezing cold (and I mean freezing) shower at about 5 pm. They may have sorted this out by now. Lovely walks and attractions nearby and the pub down the road does good food. Best bit was the late check out, which means it is worth going just for a weekend as you can spend most of sunday there too. Wish a few more sites offered that facility!. Overall very pleased and would return and also recommend

Ve just come back from a weekend at this site. It’s a very pretty site and the kids seemed to find plentyto do. The owners were away and had left the site in the care of some other people, so I never met them. The people looking after the site seemed very pleasant all the same. There is plenty to do and plenty to see. There is a chippie no more than five minutes walk that sells the yummiest fish. The village itself has a small general store that will sell all essentials, but be warned, there is a busy road running through the middle of the village. If you come out of the site and turn right (away from the village) you’ll come to a pub 100 yards down the road. We went in there Saturday night. The food is excellent and the pub was very accommodating. There is a play area in the garden with swings and a slide to keep the wee ones happy. We drove down into Eastbourne for the day and it took a little over twenty minutes. On the downside I found the pitches very small. People surrounded us and I didn’t like that. I have a large tent (Hartford XXL) and it overlapped the pitch in a couple of areas. There is no gap between pitches so you are literally guy-rope to guy-rope and that is why I’ll not go back to this site, which is a shame because apart from this it is great. One other thing – a few water taps in the camping field would have been appreciated.

Hi after reading the previous reviews, I was really disappointed by this site. When we got there the lady said she had not reserved us an electric pitch (and I specifically asked for one). She managed to find us one but I think it was the worst pitch they had as it was on a horrid slope. We left a night early as we could not sleep properly. Only one washing machine and no tumble dryer. I am a dog owner and took both dogs with us. Nice walks for them. Meant to be a rule of all dogs on leads, but not everyone adhered to this as a dog came and peed all over one of our sleeping bags! Not nice. Good side was that it was quite quiet!

Spent a couple of nights here.
Great site, one of the 'find a space and put your tent there' variety.
Fishing lakes were fantastic, my 7 year old son had his first go at fishing, and caught loads.
Site was clean - only gripe being that there always seemed to be a big queue for the 3 showers in the ladies (so I'm told!) If you get there early (7ish) you could get in easily enough.
Would definitely return, tho

Had a 3 night stay at this campsite as it was very clean, the showers and the toilets were kept to a very high standard, they cleaned them regular even at 10 in the evening. The site was located for plenty of places to visit, we went down to Eastbourne and it took 20 minutes by car. The village is handy for your essentials. The owners were really nice and friendly and left you alone and always had time to say hello. Ideal site for families or couples.

Just returned from this site after spending the weekend there. The fishing lakes, nature trail and horse riding were great, generally lots to do for everyone on a well-kept site.
We were made welcome at reception and were able to choose our own pitch, which was relatively flat. Charges were pretty good too, no extra cost for showers.
On the down side, we felt a bit like sardines as the pitch arrangements were marked squares so you had tents behind as well as to both sides, cramming in as many units as possible. The noise from both the main road and Horam sports and social club (next to camping field) were a bit invasive and the hot water only seemed to be available at certain times ( my shower at 5pm was hot but pot washing at 8pm was with tepid water) Only 3 showers, 5 toilets and 5 sinks in Ladies for 92 pitches
