This was our 2nd visit to this site. This time we were pitched in the Meadow as the Orchard is not open until peak weeks. We received a warm welcome and they had taken into consideration our requests when allocating a pitch for us. In fact on arrival they gave us a choice of 3 or 4 in the same area. The pitches are still very generous and lots of space in general. No extra pitches squeezed in. The site was extremely quiet, but this is the first time we have camped out of school holidays. Bliss. The play areas have been improved since our last visit. A huge new looking piece of play equipment in the Meadow, probably suited to slightly older children my 8 and 6year olds loved it. There is a slightly smaller piece of similar play equipment in the Orchard as well. The shower block was very clean and well maintained. Showers were hot and free with lots of hooks and a shelf. There was a covered washing up area with 4 sinks. In the same place was a spin drier and a clothes sink. The outdoor pool area was spotless with lots of sun loungers. There is a small toddler pool and the main pool was lovely and warm. We didn't use the games room as the weather was kind to us, but this was situated near the pool as is the washing up area for the Orchard and the baby/toddler bathrooms. There are lovely walks on this site and there is so much wildlife to see and watch. The site is situated in beautiful countryside down a long gravel driveway which was a bit pot holey on our arrival (trailer nearly took off) but they had filled the holes in before we left. You feel as if you are in the middle of the countryside but infact this site is on the edge of Shanklin which is walkable if you wish. There are fishing lakes on site. I think there is a small charge for fishing, not sure as we didn't do any. Freezer pack service - maybe a little pricey £2 deposit and then 30p per small pack and 60p per large. Morrisons supermarket is situated very nearby. Again you could walk it but we usually popped in on our way back from somewhere. The Isle of Wight airport is also situated across the road from the entrance. Aircraft were NOT a nusaince more of an occasional bit of entertainment. Mainly little leisure planes, microlights etc with the odd helicopter. Many campers said they used the Aviator Restaurant based there for yummy meals. We never got around to eating out as weather was good and we BBQ'd instead. Shanklin Chine is beautiful and well worth a wander. We took the kids to Black Gang Chine theme park. £33 for family and free return in 7 days. Well worth a visit if you have children under about 10/11. Godshill is very pretty and we had a nice meal in the Griffin family pub on our way to get the ferry home. The Griffin has small free toy with kids meal and brill garden with free maze and play area. We really like Ventnor as well, pleasant beach and also childrens IOW shaped paddling pool nearby - ideal for washing the sand off and great fun for the kids. All in all fantastic site and holiday location. Seriously considering booking up to go again in August. Highly recommended.

We booked for three days and they were great my 6year old daughter loved the pools very clean. The showers were lovely and hot a little queueing sometimes, not a problem, plenty of hot water for washing up and the staff even came round while I was washing up to ask if everything was OK which I thought was great. We had a meal at the Aviator restaurant which was lovely, we could watch the little planes taking off while we ate which was nice (only downside of the restaurant was they don't really cater for children), this is situated just across from the site. Would definitely go again to this site great big pitches.

A beautiful site and spacious pitches. However, our main gripe is the shower/loo block - it was awful, only 2 of the 3 showers worked and one of those was just one big dribble against the wall. There was another block an even longer walk away which also had limited showers - so time your shower carefully! And take flip flops.
Activity-wise there was plenty for the older kids to do but mine are 4 and 1 so just really the swings and the great outdoors - they were happy enough! The pool was great (baby pool too) and they even have diving classes on Monday nights. They have ice packs (v expensive I thought) to exchange in the reception but only between certain hours. No shop, as mentioned, but Landguard camping down the lane has one and Morrissons a little way away. Pitch size was good, water points good etc. Baby bath rooms available but my tip is to NOT take your buggy. Not a lot of room in there!

We have just spent 2 weeks here with friends and family. The site was well kept. It was clean and the pitches were very spaced out giving lots of room. The showers were cleaned regularly and the washing up facilities good (we were pitched near them but could imagine it being a trek if we were further up in the field). There was a swimming pool which the children enjoyed as they did the games room. The fishing lake was well stocked with carp and a catch was guaranteed.
Overall it is a lovely site but there were some downfalls. The water in the showers was sometimes too hot to shower in, particularly for the younger children.
The noise rule (9am-9pm) did not support the vacating pitches rule which was 10 am. There are many rules on this site including set times to collect tokens (washing) and flags (fishing), so if you decide to do this out of these times you will not be given them even though the office is open. If you can overcome these downfalls you will still have a good time.

Just back from a 2 week stay at Ninham We were situated in the Meadow ,when we arrived we were told to pitch straight across from the toilet block which we were a little dissapointed with ,but once we put wind breaks up it was no problem as the pitch was sheltered flat and huge! The part of the site named the Orchard seemed to be a nicer location than the Meadow, pitches there looked more like the pictures in the Brochure we were sent As the previous reviewer say some real silly rules , no noise after 9 or before 9am but off pitch by 10am silly.
A cost of over £30 a night for 2 adults 3 kids and a dog can see why some people complained which I heard them do when I was there.
Swimming pool was lovely and was heated although only slightly and we went most days twice Was busy when we were there and we had to queue for the totally inadequate showers ,far too hot and caused a real problem for us with 3 children to shower over a 2 week period , Staff were friendly enough as was the owner and even though this review seems quite negative we really enjoyed our stay ,Huge pitches ,lovely pool and a beautiful location ,supermarket on the door step makes this site a great choice for a holiday on the beautiful IOW

We've just got back from spending 3 nghts at Ninham.
There's not a lot you can pick fault with, really - but here's the faults first.
We were camping on the Meadow, but right at the top end - which was extremely windy, and caused a little damage to the tent.
Here's the cons.
Extremely well run site, where you were shown to your pitch by Mike (who was incredibly helpful throughout, with any queries).
Pitches were the most spacious that I've encountered.
Plenty to do onsite (fishing, pool, games room, playground)
Loads of standpipes about, all within a minute's walk.
Plenty of places to dispose of rubbish.
Loads of toilets and showers, no queues at all.
We'd definitely go again, the faults are so minor that they're already forgotten.
One final word of warning, though - be prepared to wash your car when you leave - the road leading onto the site is really dusty.

Have just returned from a fab 2 week holiday at Ninham. Although fully booked, the campsite is extremely spacious. It is within a short driving distance to Shanklin and Sandown - where the sandy beaches are great, especially for children (no seaweed in sight!). The campsite was kept very well. The pool was very clean. Took us a few days to find the pool and the baby baths! Although better than some places we have been to, the let down would be the shower block. There was no baby bath in our block so had to walk to the next toilet block in the next field (which isn't as close as it sounds). The shower cubicles were too small for showering the children in there with you, and the water was rather scorching (which is why we had to use the baths!). Would visit again.

We won a week at this site in 2005 but were unable to take advantage at the time, the owners most kindly carried it over to this year. We arrived very late due to traffic and put ourselves on the late arrivals pitch. Next day we were sited on the meadow which has a reception, and two shower / toilet blocks. A short stroll past the ponds leads to the swimming pool area, laundry and games room. Electric hookups are plentiful (10amps so no fan heaters or home appliances)
A visit to Griffin pub at Godshill for Sunday lunch is a must. Excellent food reasonably priced and plenty of it. If you have a family, the garden has an area to keep the kids happy until lunch is served, also recommended for food is The Bugle at Brading. We found Ninham to be very peaceful site with pleasant surroundings, an abundance of wildlife and well maintained by a very friendly staff, ideal for a couple such as us looking for peace and quiet, yet with enough facilities to keep a family happy. Everything you could require is within easy reach of the site, we certainly enjoyed our stay and have no hesitation in recommending the site.

We were lucky enough to win a weeks holiday in the self-catering cottage 'Treetops' and what a fantastic week we had. The cottage was converted from a cow-shed a couple of years ago and it's been finished to a very high standard. It's upside down, so the 3 bedrooms (2 double and 1 twin) are downstairs along with a bathroom, wet shower room and laundry, with an open plan kitchen / diner / lounge at the top which makes the most of the lovely surrounding views.
When we arrived, the owners had left a pint of milk and bottled water in the fridge, and biscuits / tea / coffee etc. On the worktop so we felt really welcomed. There was also lots of literature regarding local attractions which was helpful.
The cottage is set in it's own plot with surrounding fencing and a gate which would be useful if you wanted to keep children in / wildlife out!
The site itself seemed immaculate, it wasn't terribly busy so we practically had the outdoor swimming pools (1 paddling and 1 larger) to ourselves which was lovely. They are a 10 minute walk from the cottage so we took the car a couple of times!
The pitches for caravans/tents looked lovely and clean - didn't get chance to check the shower blocks but everywhere else seemed spotless. There seemed a lot of space everywhere.
There's no shop onsite but a big Morrisons is just a short walk away, or there is a small shop on an adjoining campsite - about 15 minute walk.
The picture on the website does not do it justice, it's a really lovely house in a lovely setting. We really enjoyed our stay, the weather helped by being fine most of the week. For any joggers out there I did a run which looped round the park, through the village and back again, approx 2 miles - but quite hilly! Thanks so much UKcampsite for our prize.

We won a weeks stay at Ninham on UKCS and decided to take it in mid-September. Well it was just great. We practically had the site to ourselves, and peaceful was an understatement! There were buzzards, swallows, ducks, pheasants, rabbits, foxes and bats around the site, and we enjoyed watching the small (quiet!) planes land and take off over the site from the airport nearby. You could walk into Shanklin along tracks and paths in about 15-20 minutes and it was well placed for touring the island by car.
The pot washing facility that we used was nearby to our pitch and undercover. The toilets and showers were also in the same block. There were four showers in the ladies, a number of toilets and washbasins and a socket for hairdryers etc. Some of the fittings could do with updating, but they were clean and there was a plentiful supply of hot water (free push button type showers) - plenty of hooks too which is always welcome. Being as we were there out of peak season we about had the block to ourselves.
All in all very enjoyable, and the beautiful weather was a bonus!
