Just returned from week long stay at Ninham. Huge site with pitches which are big enough to accommodate large tents at no extra cost. Toilets/showers are all okay, very clean and plenty of hot water - just 'basic' as everybody says!
The blocks are just dated as are the sanitary units but they are perfectly okay and as I say, clean. Seemed to be overwhelmed with rules when we first arrived but actually in the event the site was very relaxed and the staff were generally helpful.
The pool, although quite small, was great and the kids had a lovely time in the small pool and the parents in the big pool. Loads to do on the Isle of Wight - lots of leaflets at reception to help decide what to do.
We did Seaview Wildfowl Park, Robins Hill, beach at Sandown (beautiful) and Dinosaur Isle (the upstairs activity area for children is splendid). Toured Yarmouth, enjoyed Cowes (during Cowes week), wandered through Shanklin - quite quaint and lovely. Found little village called Godshill (with model village) which was lovely, quite worth a visit.
Newport (centre of the island) has every possible large shop that there is but also an equally large amount of traffic - try and avoid it if you can!
All in all good week and we were lucky with the weather which always helps! Yes I would go back although there appear to be about another 100 sites on the island which may be worth a visit!

Just returned from a 4 night stay at Ninham with our two children ages 4 and 6.
This is a lovely spacious site with large grass pitches. The site is split into two parts. We were located in the orchard side of the site which is close to the swimming pool, games room and laundry.
There are some great bike rides/walks from the site. You can take the bridleway into Shanklin which takes about 10 mins by bike. Shanklin and Sandown have good sandy beaches.
My only slight niggle was the lack and location of showers/toilets for the size of the site. I wouldn't let it put you off but be prepared for a good hike and a long queue for the facilities if you are in one of the bottom fields.
On the whole a lovely site with a great feel!

We have just got back from Ninham's and already we are planning our next trip. This campsite is lovely, the play park was excellent and the children loved the swimming pool.
If you want a noisy, club house campsite this is not the place for you, however that is exactly what we didn't want so this place checked all our boxes and more.
Within a 2 min drive/10 min walk there is a Morrison's and a 10 min drive takes you to Newport which has everything from Top Shop to McDonalds. You are only a few minutes from a beach and lots of other attractions but the location of the site means you feel like you are a million miles away from everything, total bliss!
Highly recommended campsite :-)

A beautiful site, very well kept and clean. The staff were very polite and helpful. Lovely big pitches. The shower/toilet blocks are very clean but outdated. After reading other reviews, we requested the Orchard field. This is great for children as it has a designated area where the children can play football etc.
My recommendations to the site would be to increase the number of showers and dish washing facilities. 3 showers in the Orchard field simply isn't enough, you will have to queue and the current dishwashing facilities are great but could do with some additional ones further into the Orchard field.
All in all we had a lovely time at the site.

Visited site june 2010 we got a deal 2 weeks and ferry for motorhome 2 adults for £280. The site was quiet (not school holiday) with only a few vans and tents on site
We had the swimming to ourself and I had the pick of their 2 fishing ponds. Fishing was good (caught carp 14lb)
The short walk in to shanklin down the quiet lane around 1mile, where there's all the shops you need. In shanklin the bus service takes you to all the other towns on the island.

We stayed at Ninham for 2 weeks and enjoyed our stay, the site is vast in size and is well situated for loads of the isle of wight attractions, the nearest beach being Shanklin a 5 minute drive away,
The site is well kept and clean, however the shower/toilet/ block/s are past their sell by date and are in desperate need of modernisation. As far as we are concerned they are not big enough to cope with the amount of people staying on the site, Queues for the shower are a every day occurrence (unless you shower before 7am )
In the gents shower / toilet block on our side of the site there were 3 shower cubicals, 2 urinals and 4 toilet cubicles, Know where near enough for the size of the site. As far as we seen there are 2 toilet/shower blocks on the site one either side. (but still insufficient for the size of the site)
It has no on site shop, but morrisons is about 500yrds up the road. There are rules and regulations in place, but none that true campers wouldn't apply them selves anyway. The heated outdoor pool is small in size and Not always heated. The sun deck (which is around the small pool) only houses a few loungers, is a bit of a sun trap but, can get noisy and very full, (keep in mind that the site can house approx 300 units and the pool area is small) The games room consists of mostly money operated machines.
The pitches are more than adequate in size, however, on the side of the site we camped there were large overhanging trees (which we were sited under :-( ) so if you object to pitching under trees maybe mention this when booking. We would return to this site mainly for its location (approx 20 mins fron east cowes ferry port ) and cleanliness. And hopefully new toilet blocks.

This is a beautiful, tranquil campsite. Although huge, plenty of space between pitches.
Shower blocks are slightly dated, but always clean and plenty of hot water. Swimming pool was very welcome after a hot day's sight seeing. Dishwashing and laundry area were kept very clean too.
Great location with plenty of Public Footpaths for walks off the site.
We would definitely return.

We stayed here in the first week of August with quite a large group of 4 adults, 4 children and a dog. We all found the welcome by the owners very nice and he took us to our 3 booked pitches and showed us where he would like the tents pitched but also let us arrange them sensibly in a way we could all be with each other rather than in regimental lines. The weather was superb all week and we took advatage of the walk into town and spent most days on the beach. We all found the site quiet and the kids, aged 9, 13, & 2 15yr olds!, really enjoyed themselves. We were on the Willow side and found it very quiet. The shower blocks were basic but clean and being in between the play area and the reception we could chose which block to go to.
We were very lucky with the weather as previous years camping in the Lake District we have ended up swimming to our tents, but that is all part of the fun of camping!
Would recommend this site to anyone as it was lovely.

This is currently on the top of my list of favourite campsites!
Why? Well, it's not perfect (but then where is?) but it is a lovely place to stay. It is large, and even in mid August was not anywhere near full. Mind you, they didn't space people out to the empty areas, but each pitch is enormous so you never feel hemmed in.
We were on the reception side, which had a great play area for the kids. The toilet block near the playground was not great, but the one near reception is fine - hot water all the time, free, powerful showers. I can never understand people complaining about insects in toilet blocks - you're camping, what do you expect!
The pool is fantastic - definitely heated well - we went in every morning and evening - kids loved it!
Nice lake to walk around as well. No shop as such (they do sell gas), but very close to morrisons. Ice packs for hire, yes they are pricy but if you don't like the cost, don't use them!
What I liked best about the site was the sense of control that so many people seem to find menacing! Cars drive slow (not that there ever seemed to be any cars really), people are polite and helpful. Rules are rules - so you know exactly where you stand. I was told off for putting my bin bags in the toilet bins - and the bloke was waiting for me, watching, as he had obviously clocked that someone was doing it every day (Me!). I was in the wrong, and he was polite about it and even explained why it was a problem. I wasn't put off by this at all, I just made sure I didn't do it again!
Basically, this place has remained wonderful directly because there are rules and they are enforced. If you don't like that, then go elsewhere!
I would definitely return just because the overall site is idyllic, never mind the little rules - that's what keeps it good.

Stayed for 10 days
The site was quite empty which was lucky because there was only one very dated shower block for our fields
This had 3 showers
Pool was lovely although not too warm-ok for swim after day on beach
Site is very hilly and the camping fields are separated by a narrow roadway which makes it a little unsafe for children
Games room was very nice and so was the washing up area
Laundry had machines, dryers and an iron-tokens from office
No shop but morrisons was close by but very very busy
Close for beaches and tourist attractions
Pitches were spacious
It was though an expensive site which did not have the quality amenities that was promised on the website. It seemed to lack a holiday atmosphere but could not be beaten for size of pitch or quietness
