Our unit is a 1995 Conway Countryman folding camper.
Ninham is a pleasant, roomy site within walking distance of the seaside town of Shanklin, but in the heart of some beautiful countryside. The site managers were friendly and offered advice when asked.
The facilities were adequate with plenty of hot water available. Situated within walking distance of Morrison's (1Km)and Lidl's Supermarket (1Km) and also the Shanklin (1. 5Km) town centre.
There are plenty of off road country walks and cycle rides radiating from the holiday site, and fields available for ball games. The swimming pool is small but fine for family games.
There are some areas where improvement is necessary: The showers are limited and some rise early to avoid queues, though there were rarely more than two people waiting. (Mops are not provided to clean up after you. )
There are plans for a further block but planning permission has been refused a number of times. However, I believe the owners are trying again. The stipulated leaving time is 1000. This is very early and is a difficult deadline to meet.
Overall a very pleasant stay. We hope to revisit, soon.

We haven't camped on the Isle of Wight before as last time we came to the island was 11 years ago and was pre-camping for us. We chose Ninham as was near to Shanklin (our favourite) and had a swimming pool.
The campsite is set in a lovely area and is quiet, especially in the evening. By 9. 30pm everyone seemed to have gone to bed, except for a handful of campers. Me, husband and two young teenagers played dominoes in the evening till about 11pm and felt slightly uncomfortable when mixing the dominoes on the table as it made a bit of noise. This is not a criticism but an awareness for those wanting livelier camping evenings.
Reception was very helpful with any advice we needed. There did seem to be a few rules but we never saw any of the staff ¡¥inspecting¡¦ the campsite to see if all was in order.
There is a games room with free wifi and, in our field, there is a kids play area which lots of kids used.
As said there is a swimming pool, which was reasonably sized, but for some reason, we never went in it and after me looking for a campsite with a pool ļ I think our children preferred going to the beach. We were so lucky with the weather, it was scorching hot.
As other reviewers have pointed out the shower blocks really do need replacing. Its not that they were not clean, they were cleaned every day, its more that they looked like they had been there for about 25 years and desperately needed knocking down.
The shower block near to our tent was more a portacabin while the one further away was brick. The showers themselves were hot but once the button was pressed in to turn the shower on it lasted 7 seconds. You had to keep the button pressed in all the time while trying to wash yourself, and trying not to drop anything as the cubicles were also quite small.
It is a 20 to 30 min walk into Shanklin, which my husband and eldest son walked quite a few times but, for me, wished it had been more a 10 to 15 min walk ļ
Morrisons is literally 2 mins from the campsite driveway with the Co-op a little further.
We decided that, if and when we come back to the Isle of Wight, we wouldn't stay here but, like I said, its more a preference thing with the shower blocks, campsite being slightly too quiet and just a tad too far away from Shanklin.

Stayed here over a weekend in July. Site is large and well kept. It has a large arrivals area which can also be used on departure day if you have a later ferry. We used this facility and thought it was an excellent idea.
The toilet & shower block is OK. It has definitely seen better days but was fine, apart from the water temperature in the showers. It was either freezing or, more often, boiling, and you cannot adjust the temperature. I also dislike this type of shower, where you have to keep pressing the button every 10 seconds or so. The swimming pool looked nice, although we didn't use it due to the weather.
Our big bugbear with this site was the lack of adherence to the rule that ball games had to be played in the adjacent field. No-one took any notice of this 'rule' and the wardens certainly didn't enforce it. We had children playing next to our van almost all the time we were on site, and it definitely marred our weekend. When we spoke to the parents we just got a load of aggressive abuse.
We also found it quite noisy because despite the fact that there were lots of free pitches, our caravan was squeezed in amongst lots of tents. Their pitch management definitely leaves something to be desired.

Just back from a week camping at Ninham. Overall the holiday was good. Weather was not great to be fair but the site held up and did not turn into a mud bath like some do with heavy rain. Pitches are not flat as it states and definitely slope, well at least ours did!
Toilet blocks are very clean and showers very good and hot but as others have said could do with an update soon.
Major grumble is the lack of family facilities, very hard to shower two 4 year old's in the current showers, so family shower rooms would be good. Also some baby changing rooms which aren't miles away from the pitching areas and locked
Also feel that maybe they could consider enclosing the pool. Would mean it could be used in bad weather too?
Loved the setting though, working farm was great for kids to watch and wildlife around. Very friendly at reception too.

This was our third visit to Ninham and we plan to go again we liked it that much. Took our trailertent for two weeks and had a great relaxing holiday. Toilet facilities on middle field were clean but could do with an overhaul, something we were told would happen soon. Can get quite windy on the top field but we were on the middle field and it proved ok. Pitches vary in size but are all large enough for even the longest set up as most were around the edge of a large area with no-one in front of you. Very helpful staff and a supermarket a few minutes walk away were the icing on the cake. An outdoor swimming pool with diving lessons weekly were popular for the kids and a large play area in the top field were perfect for a game of cricket with other campers.

We are a married couple who spent 5 nights at Ninham in mid-August. I was initially put off by all of the rules - I'm a lawyer and it's nice to get away from all of that. That said, we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and when we had issues with the rules we found that they were willing to be flexible.
Toilets were always clean with plenty of toilet paper and hand towels etc. Showers are push button and you needed a bit of string to help pull the water out. As I came out one morning there was a boy of about 7 waiting for a shower but I noticed that he didn't go in. On enquiry he told me that there was only one good shower. He was right! The shower blocks are very dated and are in desperate need of updating.
We have a large tunnel tent (Gelert Corvus 6+2) that we sometimes struggle with, but the pitch we had was very generous and had plenty of room for tent, awning and our car. Ground is very flat and well demarkated.
Local area is very beautiful. There is so much to do on the island. We ventured over to the Garlic Farm which has an amazing cafe that is well worth a visit. I wouldn't recommend the garlic beer as it tastes even worse than it sounds!
All in all, I would recommend this site and the island as a whole.

Just returned after a 4 night stay in a tent over the bank holiday weekend. The site is situated opposite one of the entrances to the airport. Do not let this put you off as its only light aircraft and you can barely hear them.
The site is split into two camping areas. Myself and Girlfriend were situated on the side where the reception is. The site is is slightly hilly so not all pitches are flat, however are of a decent size. We found the staff friendly and welcoming. There isn't much on the site but as we were only there for a few nights and had things planned most nights so didn't need to spend the extra money on entertainment etc.
The toilet blocks are outdated and could do with modernisation, there is no room in the showers to sit down whilst getting changed. One of the two toilet blocks on our area was of a portacabin style, although clean.
You can walk to Shanklin which we did one night in around 20mins.

This is my first visit to the Isle of Wight since I was 10 years old and it really hasn't changed a great deal. Which is a real bonus.
We chose this campsite mainly because of its location but also because we like a more relaxed campsite with none of the 'extras'.
The pitches are generous. We managed to fit a large tunnel tent, 3 man tent and car with room to spare. I'm glad we were in the Orchard field as it meant we were closer to the pool, laundry and games rooms which is great if you have kids. There is plenty of room for the kids to run around and ride their bikes.
As many have mentioned, the facilities are quite dated, but regularly cleaned throughout the day. I don't find this a problem but a few more showers are needed to cope with the high demand in high season.
We took our bikes and enjoyed leaving the car behind to explore the local area. You can easily cycle to the seafront at Shanklin or Sandown in less than 20 minutes, although it did take a bit longer with little ones in tow.
As the weather was so good we spent most days on the beach, but did visit Dinosaur Isle in Sandown. We were pleasantly surprised and would definitely visit again if we returned to the island. Amazon World wasn't quite as good and can be done in a couple of hours if you're looking for something to do.
All in all we had a great week and will probably return to the site in the future.

Have just returned from a weeks camping. Thought the campsite was great. My biggest issue with camping is the shower blocks and heavily research the reviews but have to say the comments on here are slightly unfair. The showers are really clean, obviously dated but clean even in the raining weather we had the showers remained cleaned. On arrival was bombarded with rules and regulations some which are quite un-neccessary but very spacious pitches and beautiful grounds, lovely duck pond, great walks and brilliant heated swimming pool. Staff were helpful and location was brilliant - Morrison about 2 mins away. Would generally recommend for people who are looking for a quite / safe campsite. Would def return regularly if ferry wasn't so expensive!

The was an excellent site, and we loved the fact that we could go for a swim in the morning and had the pool to ourselves.
We went before the Summer Holidays had started and I think this contributed to how quiet and peaceful the site was.
Facilities were good and we had no problems with queues as others had experienced.
Shanklin was very close, and site was ideally positioned for exploring the east side of the island.
Very friendly staff - an excellent stay thankyou. We wish we had stayed for longer.
