I'm a bit reluctant to leave a review as I don't want to spoil this lovely site.
We use a tent with no electric and the pitch is always huge. They do not believe in over filling the site which means it is a bit more expensive.
There is always plenty of hot water and areas kept clean.
There are rules about noise and general conduct on site. But if you are a reasonable person they are not out of the ordinary and mean everyone gets a good nights sleep. So be warned if you like to party late this is not the site for you.
Site has a swimming pool and a fishing lake. No shop onsite but Morrisons is not far away.
First timers to Isle of Wight. Two beaches to recommend is Appley (down from Ryde) Compton bay if you like waves and Dinosaur bones.
Best gifts from Areaton Barns.
If you go relax and enjoy. But be selective who you pass on info to about this lovely site.

We have had our family holidays at Ninham now for 14 years, for us it is as near perfect as you can get. Being approximately 3/4 mile from any main road it is a very quiet and safe site for small children, the units are not squashed together but well spread out giving everybody their own space. If you want bars and clubs this is not the place for you but if like a majority of families you want peace and quiet in idyllic surroundings this is the place to be. The site boasts a swimming pool and patio area which like all the other facilities is kept extremely clean and tidy. The owners Mr & Mrs.Harvey are charming and ,friendly and helpful and they like their site mangers make you very welcome during your stay.

Wow! We booked this site at the last moment due to waterlogged pitches on another site and we were not disappointed. We stayed on the Orchard site which is only open during the school holidays. The pitch size was huge and plenty of room for pup tents, trailers, day tents all at no extra charge.
The swimming pool is nicely situated between the fields and they have scuba diving on a Monday night for a small charge. There was also a little hut next to the pool with lovely homemade cakes, coffee, tea, ice creams and beach stuff open during the main season.
There is an off road walk where if you are lucky you will find horses roaming around but they are friendly -so don't panic. You can also pick blackberries on the way as well. One way leads to Morrison's, opposite way to Shanklin. There is also a camping shop at the industrial area opposite Morrisons just in case you forget something.
The best thing about this site is the peace and quiet at night and if anybody did make a nuisance of themselves they were soon spoken to. There is the airport opposite the site but only light aircraft so no problem there. We had a child size meal at the Aviator which was more than enough for us-nice eating outside and watching the little planes come and go.
There are a lot of little bunnies on this site and if you give them the opportunity to get into your food tent they will, so be aware.
My gripe would have to be that I considered the showers too be rather hot for my daughter. The 10am for leaving was not in force while we were there, thank goodness, but I had cleared it with the management but being after the bank holiday they would have been closing that field anyway.
We will be back next year and can thoroughly recommend this site.

We've just spent a lovely week in our tent at Ninham. You really have the best of both worlds here, the site is located in a very peaceful rural area, yet is really close to the facilities of Shanklin and Sandown. Although tent's weren't crammed in, the pitches (with EHU) are not as spacious as some of the reviews on here suggested! They were flat though, and despite 24 hours of solid rain never got too muddy. The shower blocks were always kept clean and had plenty of hot water, my only criticism being that the times they were closed for cleaning seemed to vary quite a lot! I was told by the cleaner one morning that the block was closed at about this time everyday, when I asked what that time was he said 'oh, anytime from 11 until 1! I also heard fellow campers complaining that there should be a sign saying when the block was closed! We often walked into Shanklin in the evening which was via a mixture of country footpaths, traffic free farm tracks, and other campsites. We timed it one night and it took us 30 minutes from our tent to Shanklin Esplanade, walking at a relaxed pace. A very pleasant walk when it is light, but could be a little scary in the dark! Worth it to be able to have a beer in the town though! Overall I would recommend this site, and the IOW especially! If you want to check out it's location on Google Earth, look out for the maze which spells out Ninham Country Holidays, about a mile northwest of Shanklin!

My pet hate about camping is night time noise -- this is the first site in my 5 yrs of camping where there was little or no noise at night. It was fabulous, and it was the middle of August! Fab site, enormous pitches, even on the electric hook up pitches, lots and lots of room. Surrounding is very picturesque, with rolling hills all around. Toilet block was good, clean and plenty of hot water, only once did I have to queue in the morning for a shower. Although the pitches are level it is very hilly on and around the site, my hubby and I took our bikes, we didn't use them as much as we'd have liked because of the amount of hills, but it's like that all over the island, not just the site. We can highly recommend the site, it's one of the best we've visited.

This site is brilliant. We arrived a bit early and we were asked to leave our mobile phone number and they rang us about two hours later to tell us our pitch was avialable. The site is managed by a very good husband and wife team, the toilet blocks/shower blocks are cleaned daily. And there was hot water when required. The site has good drainage partly because its sloping gently. The price was very reasonable and the rules are enforced, although this particular site attracts the kind of clientele that know how to behave without being told or threatend. The only sad thing was the weather and the site is a little exposed wind wise, although they are trying to rectify this by growing hedgerows which will take a while to grow. The bins are emptied on a regular basis as well. We will be returning to this site in future.

You can’t buy what this site has to offer! If you want bars and clubs, parties and a boisterous time, then forget it, this is not the site for you. If, on the other hand, you want peace and tranquility, beautiful countryside. Wide-open spaces in which to pitch your tent or caravan and a holiday to send you, and your family, home relaxed and refreshed, then Ninham is the place for you.
The site is beautifully located in rural farmland and yet has a supermarket only ten minutes walk away. Sandy beaches only ten minutes by car and the many attractions on the island can all be reached within less than an hour. The Isle of Wight is known as the "sunshine isle" and rightly so. Despite the fact that it lies only about three miles from the mainland, it has a micro-climate that gives it distinctly drier and more sunny weather than its near-neighbours over the Solent. The site has a superb outdoor heated pool with a large patio area which enables campers to take advantage of this mild climate. Other attractions include a games room and two natural ponds stocked with fish for those who like to while away their time with a rod in their hands.
This year, 2007, was our 14th visit to Ninham. Like many others, we return here year after year safe in the knowledge that the owners, Derek and Veronica Harvey, and their staff, can be relied upon to provide us with a holiday to remember. There is an old-fashioned determination to do everything possible to make the visitor feel welcome and cared about. The site is well-run and professionally managed without any loss of the personal touch, and that makes all the difference. All-in-all an outstanding family site that can be recommended without reservation.

We arrived very late due to traffic and put ourselves on the late arrivals pitch. The next day we were situated on the meadow which has a reception and two shower blocks. A short walk took us past the beautiful setting of the two ponds which leads up to the area of the swimming pool and patio area for sun bathing. Up in this same area was the laundry room and the games room area. We had our trailer tent and so required electric which was not a problem as they were plentiful and serviced all our needs. (as long as you stay away from home appliances and fan heaters! well we are camping so fair enough, would be unfair on others to incur a power cut due to over indulgence!) A visit to the Griffin pub in Godshill is a must. Excellent food reasonably priced is the order of the day there. If you have a family the garden provides an area for the kids as well as a chance to get more of the beautiful Island air! We also ate at the Bugle In Brading which was very good, as was the Crab and Lobster in Bembridge. We found Ninham to be a peaceful site with pleasant surroundings and stunning views of what lies ahead. The site is well maintained by the friendly helpful staff who ensured we were looked after if they were ever called upon. The site has enough facilities to keep a family happy amd as a couple we found the site more than perfect as a place to relax and enjoy the site as well as being in an ideal location to explore the Island with the sandy beaches of Shanklin and neighbouring Sandown just a short drive away. I fully recommend Ninham as a site.

I really like this site and come here regularly as I love the amount of space and the lovely countryside. There is plenty of space and you are not crammed in as with some sites and plenty of room for the children to run about and no roads to worry about. There are fields, woodland, ponds and cycle ways and there is nice sized pool. The resorts of Shanklin and Sandown are near by to for restaurants and shops and you can easily walk or cycle to the beach or town ,being 1-2 miles away. This really is a lovely gem of a site!

This will be our third year at Ninham we really like the site the pitch sizes are one of the best. We love the area the beaches at Sandown and Shanklin are brilliant for children. The only little blips are that the showers somtimes play up but are always clean, and no noise after 9pm could be slightly later say 10 pm, but all in all a lovely site. Our eldest son really enjoyed the scuba diving held on monday nights.
