Just come back from a week's stay at Ninham Country Holidays and am already planning a longer trip as there is a lot to see and do in the area.
We were in the Orchard which is for families only with no dogs allowed during summer holidays which is why we chose it. It gets quite quiet from 21:00 onwards and had no problems with noisy neighbours apart from on one night where a single family kept the whole site up on their first night, but they were dealt with quickly and where quiet the following night.
There is a brand new and modern shower/toilet/laundry block which was both attractive outside and very modern inside. Plenty of hot water, no need to pay for showers and a handy 'family' shower cubicle in both male and female facilities with large, medium and small showers AND a baby bath. Very handy. Never had to queue to use any of the facilities.
The pitches in the orchard are all level, grass and the area clean and well maintained. Rock pegs recommended purely because the ground is well drained and can get hard in hot weather.
There is a toddler pool and an outdoor pool, both are heated although we found them a little cold and instead ventured into the public pool at 'The Heights' leisure centre instead which is about 1. 5 miles away in Sandown. Entry for a family of 4 about £7. 50 and my little girl learned to swim for the first time so well worth it!
There is a very basic park near the pool (the pool itself is fenced off for safety) with just one piece of play equipment, but that didn't seem to phase my little ones who enjoyed it.
On site there is a lake for fishing if that's your thing and a small meadow nearby you can walk through full of cows which the kids really enjoyed.
Can't fault the site itself, very well organised, nice to look at and well maintained. We arrived in the rain and even that didn't put us off on our first impressions.
Only criticism I would make are the cleaning of the toilets and showers. They are cleaned once a day and the close between 2pm and 4pm whilst this is going on which is just too long. As it is only cleaned once a day it also gets quite grubby in between and mess isn't dealt with quickly so tends to spread. I think they could improve on this by simply providing the materials such as a mop and bucket so people have the tools to clean up after themselves. When they are cleaned they are done so thoroughly and it's only surface dirt, but it would be a lot nicer if they could sort this out.
Everything you want to see on the island is no more than 30 minutes away by car, most a lot closer. Robin Hill particularly recommended. Morrison's is 5 minutes in the car or a 15 minute walk for an adult and a good place for a cooked breakfast or inexpensive evening meal.
For a nice meal highly recommend the 'Fighting Cocks' which is just a few minutes away and has a huge play area for the kids with swings, monkey bars, rope bridges etc. Slightly more expensive than some places, but not excessively so, there are value options but most meals £10-£12. We went twice as it is nice.
On the whole it's a great site, already planning to return.

My partner and I stayed at this site for 4 nights. We chose this sight mainly based on it's good reviews and it's location.
Good points: The location is excellent. 5 minutes drive to Morrisons. 10 minute cycle ride to the pub and 15 minutes cycle to the centre of Shanklin. Due to the camp site location there are lots of paths to walk and cycle safely on. The shower block in the part of the campsite we used was new and of a very high standard. However, there is very little hot water between 0900 and 1700. So get in early. Also, it's a shame that some campers have no respect for these excellent facilities and need to learn how to clean up after themselves - grotty campers really!
Bad Points: On entering the site we were directed in a military style to the reception and given directions on how and what to do whilst on the site - this felt all very regimented and the staff weren't friendly. More abrupt and straight to the point if anything. Also, there appeared to be an obsession with recycling. We even received a text message reminding us how it is done! This wasn't a problem as recycling bags were given, however there aren't even enough bins on the site to accommodate all the rubbish, therefore the bins were over flowing.
The road is of a poor standard and could be improved.
Finally I would like to suggest that due to being such a big campsite, that maybe in the busier season/school holidays that there is a small area of several pitches for Adults only, as the campsite was over run by screaming children who had even louder screaming parents, therefore a non relaxing holiday was had by us.
I would recommend that you try this campsite but we won't be going back again!

Visited during the second week of the school holidays and found this to be a really nice site.
The site is split into two parts. The half we were in had a brand new shower block. We never had to queue.
The pitches are very large and well kept. No rubbish or litter anywhere.
The swimming pool was heated.
Play areas : swings, slides etc were limited but there was so much space that most were able to entertain themselves.
Setting: Very pretty farm land with a nice walk to Shanklin beach. Morrisons is very close. All was quite by 9. 30pm.
Bad points: none for me. A nice quiet, clean site.
Area: Everything seems to have gone up in price. £6. 80 to park on the beach front (we found a side road). £55 for a family ticket to Robin hill (essentially a country park).

We had a great camping holiday at Ninham. The location is ideal for visiting various beaches and the surroundings of the site were beautiful. The campsite was close to shops for supplies but also rural with rolling hills and countryside all around. The facilities were amazing, very clean. The pitches were big and the site was great for kids but also had separate areas for adults & people with dogs. The trees and hedge rows on site give privacy and shelter and are beautiful. Highly recommend this campsite.

All in all we enjoyed this campsite. It was the first time taking my two young children camping and they loved it.
The pitches were very large and flat. The grass nice and short and the pitches seemed stone free. We found the (new) shower block very clean and large and the washing area had plenty of space. We didn't use the clothes washing facility but that seem very good as well. The staff seemed helpful providing a site map and bin bags, plenty of local maps in the office as well.
Now the not so good. This is a large site, maybe I'm just used to smaller sites but this is a large site and the site road isn't in the best of conditions. It was more than a walk from our pitch to the office to get the ice pack changed which you pay for. Our corner of the site was bordered with hedges which was also overgrown with nettles and thorns. Not good with two young children running about the place. The staff although professional were just that.
However we would probably stay at this site again. It was value for money with the ferry crossing included.

Just spent 4 nights here and was most suprised. Very good sized pitch allowed for our tent and extended 'awning' with plenty of space left. Pitch had a slight slope but not excessive.
Children found the pool warm and clean. ALL children were supervised which made a nice change.
Toilet blocks are basic but functional. No need to worry about finding 20p pieces for the shower.
Ample hot water for washing up.
Would highly recommend to others.

Ninham is a clean, well manicured site in a beautiful location. Quiet rural setting, pretty central for the family attractions and ten minutes from the beautiful town of Shanklin (sandy beach, crazy golf, thatched cottages, don't miss the Chine)
Negatives. Well, they just weren't very friendly. Efficient, but no more. There was no hot water for our first two days, when I went to reception to ask about this they seemed pretty unconcerned & didn't offer a word of apology. I would have thought it warranted a notice at the shower blocks maybe, apologising and explaining?
That said, when the hot water did come back, the facilities are really poor. I never queued for less than 20mins for a shower - that's a long time with a wet, cold child fresh from the swimming pool! There are no wash cubicles at all. Getting clean really was not easy.
There is no shop on site but a supermarket 5 mins drive away.
You will find a lot of signs up telling what to do and not to do. The one telling up to keep morning noise down (fair enough) was our favourite, as we camped close to where some building was taking place and workmen were arriving from 8am.
Positives. Got to be that lovely setting. Both our pitch and the site in general was very spacious. The outside swimming pool really makes it, its clean and has a lovely surrounding terrace. So welcome after a hard days sight seeing.

Ninham Country Park in Shanklin is by far the nicest campsite in the IOW. It is beautifully maintained and the location is perfect, hidden away yet close to the main routes to across the Island and Morrisons (which is most handy).
The site is also located in the middle of numerous walks.
The facilities on the campsite are very clean. I really enjoyed my holiday and was able to take my 4 month old puppy who also enjoyed the holiday.
I will be returning with friends and family.
Wonderful.

As a busy family we have one holiday a year, We chose Isle of Wight and stumbled across Ninhams, taking on board reviews, we booked for 10 nights. A break down on M11 was unfortunate and Ninhams staff made sure we got a later ferry.
We arrived, staff very friendly showing us our large pitch lovely for our large tent. There's plenty of room. As regards to facilities, toilets are fine, showers in need of update and squidgy mop for people to clear up after themselves!
The area is beautiful with rolling hills in distance. Shanklin beach is beautiful, old town is busy. Compton Bay and Needles Battery a must. Island is covered in walkways, (some leading straight from camp site)and cycle paths.
We packed in a lot during our stay but at the same time felt it was a really relaxing holiday on a lovely site.

A fabulous site! Generous pitch sizes and no extra charges for canopies, extra tents, etc. The heated pool was a great hit with my teenage children and was clean and warm. The games room was also popular with them and I found the free WiFi useful.
The showers and toilets are in need of updating but were very clean at all times. There was plenty of hot water and no limit to how long could be spent in the showers. The only down side with the showers was that it was a press button and was not very powerful.
The whole site was spotlessly clean and the staff very helpful. My only criticism is that a charge of 60p a day is levied for freeze blocks and using your own is not allowed. The check in procedure is also bizarre (you have to park in another field, walk to reception, walk back to your car and then follow a chap on a scooter to your pitch) and as I am disabled rather a strain!
There is a Morrison's supermarket five minutes car ride away and Shanklin is quick and easy to get to. It is possible to walk to Shanklin from the site and would probably only take about 20 minutes. There is also a small shop by the swimming pool which sells ice creams, drinks, etc.
This is one of the best campsites I have ever stayed at and we are already planning a return visit next year!
