This site was lovely - what a great place to stay.

The staff on site were very nice, and very welcoming. We were in a group of 2 caravans and were allowed to pitch together as we liked with our awnings facing each other - something that some sites aren't too keen on.

In fact, the staff were so nice they let our friends who were staying in a B&B nearby come onto the campsite (free of charge) to join us for evening food after we'd been out and about - a big thanks to them for this!

The site was quiet and the facilities were good. Toilets perhaps weren't spotless, but never the less I felt comfortable using them. I was told by another party that the tea rooms were lovely.

All in all we had a great stay and was the ideal central location for us to go exploring, although be prepared to do some driving (this didn't bother us as we like being out of the way).

The price is also very competitive, and we'd definitely visit again!

Fantastic campsite, one of the best we have stayed at. Great welcome and very good facilities. The location is excellent - the local pub / restaurant is 5 minutes walk away. The food at this pub was very, very good and would be reason on its own for visiting Devil's Bridge. The scenery there is stunning too. Great site and location, we will be back.

Just returned from a week's camping at this site. The location is just perfect if you want to get away from it all without the commercial tackiness of some sites. The site is located at the top of the Vale of Rheidol so the surrounding scenery is very beautiful. I must admit the weather wasn't brilliant as it was quite windy and we had some blustery showers overnight a few times but the location made up for this. The scenery is stunning as you are up in the hills in the middle of a working sheep farm. You can watch the sheep being rounded up by the farm dogs on the hillsides and if you are visiting in spring, the lambs in the paddock next to the shower block are so friendly you can fuss them like dogs!

You are free to explore the walks around the farm land and we wandered off on an adventure one evening and found ourselves on a lovely walk through wooded hillsides with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. We climbed to the top of the 'mountain' and there is ample opportunity for some interesting wildlife encounters if that is your thing. There were buzzards soaring above the campsite, ravens kronking overhead, red kites swoop down so low you think they might land on your tent! The trees on the hillside were singing with the sound of warblers and be prepared to be woken by the lovely dawn chorus in the morning. We heard cuckoos and owls, discovered a badger sett and even managed to catch a glimpse of a badger on one of his evening forays. Lets hope they don't become victims of the imminent badger cull in Wales!

The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Can't comment on the tea rooms as we never ate there but heard good reviews from other campers. The shop doesn't stock much in the way of provisions but there is a small local shop in the village and a post office if you prefer to use that. We stocked up in Morrisons in Aberystwyth and also at a small organic shop on Baker Street in the town centre called Treetops.

The sheep and lambs bleat all night and one night we were woken by the 'wolves' having a midnight howl! But this is a working farm and you really shouldn't camp in the countryside if this puts you off. No problems with mosquitoes but probably too early in the season for our visit - thank god.

The toilets and showers weren't the best but they were cleaned every day and at least they were hot and free. I have been to other sites where the fees were more expensive, the facilities were not kept clean and you had to put coins in the slot to pay for showers in addition, so really it was good value for money considering it was all included in the price. I don't think I would like to visit in peak holiday time though, as there were only 3 showers in the ladies' facilities and I assume it's also the same in the mens and not much room to maneouvre! Also there was only one washing up sink for dishes so expect queues at busy times! I think perhaps they should consider building an extra shower block and washing up area for use at busier periods.

I can't really comment on the child friendliness of the site but the ones we saw seemed to be enjoying themselves - depends if they are the type who are happy to keep themselves amused without the aid of a computer! There was plenty of room for them to play and ride their bikes on site. I noticed there were a couple of play areas and they also seemed to enjoy climbing on the various animal sculptures around the site and building dams in the stream!

The narrow gauge steam railway to Aberystwyth is about 10 minutes walk from the site although we didn't find the timetable very convenient so check this out first if you are planning a trip on it. The Mynach Waterfalls are just 5 minutes down the road from the site entrance but a word of warning there are no pavements, the road narrows at the bridge and the traffic sometimes comes very fast around the corners. This could be quite dodgy when you emerge from the steep climb back up from the waterfalls as you fall jelly legged directly into the road!

I can confirm the ground on the site has zero soil and is mostly slate especially if you are on one of the hook up pitches as we were so you will definitely need rock pegs and a strong man to bang them in for you! Plenty of room to pitch your tent and park your car alongside and pitch numbers were clearly marked on the hook up pitches - something we've discovered is not always clear on some sites we've visited in the past.

Overall a lovely campsite that I would recommend if peace and relaxation in a 'get away from it all' setting is your thing.

The site location is good up a steep hill and on to a flatish and hilly field. Only 1/4 inch of soil and gravel underneath which meant having many tent pegs not going in and bending, not good and not fit for tent campers on pitch no 1,2,3 near the toilets, further on more depth but rock pegs are needed.

The toilet blocks had 4 toilets 3 showers for the men one had a broken fixed shower head with water going every where and no shower rail, one shower had one coat hook missing but apart from that ok,two shaver points and a hair dryer. The womens had 3 showers and 5 toilets;note the showers and taps are push type meaning a shower of 20 seconds so keep it pushed in,hot though. The block was ok but messy with grass and soil on the floor but had a metal wheel chair ramp which was good but noisy at night when walked on.

£12 per night to include electricity was good value so I suppose you can not say too much! The tea room on site was excellent £4.75 for a breakfast to include tea! The hafod arms was ok but not great for all food, I did have a good steak and good beer though!

To sum up good but the soil is shallow for tent pegs and this needs to be addressed if this is to get high marks which is a pity because it scored highly in other ways due to its location!

I have been using this site for more years than I care to remember.

It is a real hidden gem and fits in very nicely if you're after some real R&R.

If your idea of a holiday is a site with everything laid on, a club and bar, night time entertainment and a beach within walking distance then this is not for you at all.

If you want a site that is clean and tidy, friendly and well run then you're in luck!

The shower block is cleaned everyday and to high standard, at busy times it suffers from the usual problem of people not clearing up after themselves and you get them everywhere unfortunately. It is an older portacabin building but does have hot free showers, hair and hand dryers and they are clean and dry. When it is busy then you may have a wait at peak times as it will struggle to cope with a full field, best solution is to just get up later!

The hook up is 13A and there are plenty on the main field plus two extras by the bungalow if you don't want to camp with the rest (ideal for two unit outings).

The countryside is breath taking and you really get to be part of nature with the red kites flying over head and farmland all around.

All in all a real camping holiday with just enough facilities to make it enjoyable without removing the outside feel of it all. Make sure you have some mossy guard though, the little blighters do bite!

Shopping is done in Aberystwyth although a trip can be saved by using the local shops by the steam railway as the site shop is more of tea room and not run by the site owners. If you do venture in to Aberystwyth then the Morrison's will have everything you need or you can wonder the town which has all of the usual high street names.

There is nothing for kids to do all day but run free and play just how it used to be when we were all young.

The bins are away from the camping area but on the way out of the site so no unsightly or smelly rubbish bins to spoil the view. A nice (short) walk down to drop it off is a must as the slow and steady pace of life this place instils is best followed and enjoyed.

The staff and owners are very warm and welcoming and always have a smile, whatever the weather throws at you. They even camp out on the field too so they can test it to see how people use the site, now that's dedication!

The static site is also very nice, no regimented caravans all the same and in rows, there is plenty of greenery and opens spaces to enjoy and each caravan has its own tended garden as none are commercial to let vans.

If you're going on a bank holiday always book in advance as it can get busy. Only the one row of hook ups has set pitches, some with hard standing, three are more open and casual on where you pitch and are ideal for tents or a group; the rest is open field to pitch as and where you like. On busy days this can make for some close pitching even when there is open space it seems!

I'll return to this site time and time again and have introduced a number of friends to it too.

Stayed for 2 days at the beginning of August.

Site was clean and very reasonably priced. Toilet/ Shower block was also clean.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

All in all a really nice site.

Located within staggering distance from Devils Falls. I say staggering distance because thats what you'll be doing after walking down then up the other side of the falls!

Roughly a 15 minute drive from Aberystwyth.

Although this site looks inviting we were quite disappointed with it. The showers and toilets were in a bad state I know Portacabins are not the best but I have been in some really nice ones and these were not upto MY standards. The washing up area has one sink for the whole site - we even had to unblock this as it had been left. There are no rubbish bins you have to take your rubbish to the skips by the main entrance which can be quite a walk just to get rid of a carrier bag full. Our pitch was waterlogged as the water runs off the tent field so woke up to swimming pool in the awning. Check in was slow but the staff were friendly.

The site is quiet and set in lovely countryside and Devil's Bridge was wonderful. I won't return to this site because of the facilities but this is only my opinion - we only used this site because of the good reviews - its a shame they did not fulfil my expectations.

Just got back from this site. Beautiful setting & very quiet. The shop closes early so if you need anything don't leave it too late. The showers left a bit to be desired however they were free & there was plenty of hot water. You also needed to be a bit of a contortionist to get in the loo! we did devils bridge or rather it did us! probably wouldn't return to this site as there isn't much to do. I do recommend the three bridges pub for food excellent value

Just returned from a weekend break at this site. After a slow check in ( staff friendly ) we were sent to pitch number 5 which was waterlogged - the ground was hard but managed with rock pegs.
The toilets / showers at best can be described as functional as they are a basic portacabin and not very clean. The washing up area consists of 1 sink for a whole camping field - we had to unblock this ourselves at one point.
The bins are nowhere near the camping field so we had to take our rubbish in the car on our way off site. The tenting area looked lovely and was adorned with bronze statues of deer and farming machinary.
Devil's Bridge is 5 minutes walk away and very well worth the visit - the location of this site is wonderful but we will probably not visit again due to the inadequacies of the facilities.

Have visited this site for the past 3 years or so, on reccomendation from a friend.

Very friendly, family run site.

The location is idylic.

Come here for the excellent mountain biking at Nant Yr Arian, but, have been quite happy just to sit and chill.

Good Hotel just 300metres down the road, for a pint and a good bar meal.

Brought the wife down once for a one night stay, she keeps coming with me now.

Will be coming here for years to come.

Good hot, free water in the shower block.

I see that they have now put a roof over the dish washing area.

No digital TV hook up yet, but they seem to listen to customers views, so who knows.

Safe playground for children, well away from main roads.

Yes, the farm dogs do bark quite a lot, but this is the countryside afterall.
