We visited here in our Folding Camper.

Overall a very pleasant stay. Unfortunately the areas we were offered were very water logged and after some heavy rain we had a stream of water through the awning.

We would use the site again if we return to the area.

The ground where we were was extremely stony, so rock pegs were essential for the awning.

The only local shop was the site shop which was expensive but sold the basics. The nearest supermarket was 12 miles away in Aberystwyth.

The local hostelry was The Hafod Hotel. The food was excellent and they offered a two course meal deal but if you stray from that it gets very expensive!

Excellent site - friendly staff, well organised in an interesting area of the country. We had a grass pitch with electric hook up. Slightly sloping ground but nothing horrendous. Toilet block is one of the best I have seen. Free wifi available at reception: worked fine for emails and basic web searches but don't expect to start downloading large files.

Lots of families on site with large tents and gazebos. There is plenty of space to safely play.

There is walking from the site. Devil's Bridge gorge, £3. 75 adults, is quite an undertaking with steep rough steps.

The steam train looked fun but unfortunately is geared towards starting in Aberystwyth. The first train doesn't leave Devil's Bridge until lunchtime which is fine if you are going for the ride but not if you want a day exploring the town.

We visited The Alternative Technology Centre, first set up by hippies in the 1970s but now concentrating on sustainable energy and organic gardening. It is more interesting than it sounds! Good cafe too.

This is a really clean and well run campsite. The loos are the best I've ever seen in a campsite.

The views are lovely as is the surrounding area. There is a pub within a short walking distance that serves good food.

The staff at Woodlands were very friendly and helpful. We left early due to the amount of water flooding our pitch and the level of noise by other campers.

The tent pitches are located at the base of a hill and although there is a ditch to catch runoff nearby, a significant amount of water runoff floods the pitches. Our clothes were soaked and with only one dryer on site, there was no chance of drying out.

During our stay a group of dirt bikers set up camp and proceeded to celebrate and party through the night and early hours of morning. This was very disruptive.

The site was clean and the shower block was well looked after.

We left early for a more family friendly and dry site.

Fabulous site with spotless shower and toilet facilities. Very friendly and helpful staff. Peaceful with stunning scenery!

There's a tearoom just outside the entrance which serves a great breakfast and a short walk away is a pub which serves great food.

Like I said, the scenery is beautiful and there's lots of places to visit nearby

Highly recommended - you won't be disappointed

Superb site, facilities and personnel, and pitches, cant find fault with anything.

Toilet block immaculate clean enough to eat in there.

Plenty of places to visit in the area.

Three Bridges short walk along the road, the gorge fabulous, hard work though.

Vale of Rheidol railway well worth the money for a couple of hours enjoyment.

Plus several other places well worth looking up before a visit.

Will definitely return, hopefully in the autumn to see the tree colours.

Absolutely beautiful! Cannot fault it really. Fabulous surroundings, outstanding facilities, very friendly and helpful, even other campers offered help when needed. Clean and tidy site.

We had 2 dogs and they were worn out from all the lovely walks as there's a lot of hills and we also slept well. Devil's falls was just a short walk away which is lovely.

There was also a pub in walking distance which had great food and stunning views. Very friendly place would definitely go back to stay at this site again.

 What a beautiful site.

The toilet and shower facilities are amazing, so clean and warm with lovely touches like a shelf unit/dressing table with lights above the mirrors and a mat to put curling tongs on, there is also a Childs toilet and washbasin. I do agree that it would have been nice if privacy cubicles had been included.

The dishwashing facilities are excellent and there is also a whirly line at the back of the block. There is loads of space for children to play. We ate in the café at lunchtime and had the ham, egg and chips, plentiful and nice and a reasonable price. They do a take away menu on Friday and Saturday nights.

The shop in the cafe sells basic items and lots of gifts. The ladies in reception are very helpful and they have a very good selection of brochures. We visited the waterfall which is fantastic, however do be very careful walking down the road as there is no pavement and it does get busy.

I would also suggest sensible footwear as the ground is very uneven, there are lots of steps some of which are quite steep and that's just to get to the viewing platform, we didn't go as far as Jacobs Ladder.

Beautiful site set in lovely countryside, had a lovely short stay and wished we stayed longer given the settled weather we were lucky to enjoy.

As has been said before the facilities block is outstanding and spotless, the standard by which most other sites (including some club sites we have visited) should aspire to! My only gripe was the lack of hooks by sinks to hang your wash bags off, and a couple of private sink cubicles would have been nice as there is bags of room, but that's just personal preference.

Showers were huge with plenty of space and nice decent water flow. The push button shower taps are anoying but hey, they are free and a sad necessity due to the number of mindless idiots camping these days who are incapable of flushing a loo or turning off taps/showers after themselves, fortunately there was no sign of that fraternity at this camp site and all the other campers were very friendly and considerate.

Loads to do in the area although you do have to drive, that's part of the appeal giving it a remote outdoorsy feel but with high quality facilities. If you want 24/7 entertainment (and noise) on your doorstep book yourseves into Pontins or all inclusives.

Our 2 year old loved the swing hanging off a huge old ship anchor and the play area on a small rise overlooking the site.

Do check the train times carefully if the Rhiedol railway is your main reason for coming, with a bit of care you can walk down the road to the station but outside of peak holiday seasons you can only go down to Aberystwith and straight back.

We wanted to take the train down and spend a few hours enjoying the town but not possible at this time of year we drove in the end but well worth the trip, lovely sea front and pebble beach.

All in all a top quality campsite for real campers, well done to the people running the show, we will be back!

Just back from 2 days at the Woodlands. Its in an area of wonderful walks and views and the campsite is very much in a central point for walkers.

The toilet block is out of this world and better than any I have ever seen - full marks for that.

The site owners were friendly and helpful and this is a site we'll definitely revisit and stay for longer too!
