We chose this campsite as it is VERY close to the in-laws so if our 4 yr old had really hated the whole experience, she could have stayed there. However, she loved it. We went with friends who have a daughter of similar age and the two of them had a great time. Plenty of space on the campsite and the only time we had to wait to use toilets/showers was when they were being cleaned again. Loads of hot water, but no temperature control, so not ideal for little ones. Generally good facilities - two dryers (really useful as it rained the whole weekend!) and a freezer; two sinks and disable facilities. Bus stops just outside the campsite every hour to go to Whitby and beyond - family ticket £8 - great value. HInderwell shop is great. Really good place - only slightly spoilt by other campers being a little inconsiderate until 1 am.

This is a lovely site, we were in a multi-family group of three tents and had plenty of room. The kids had a fabulous time running around the field. The toilet block was clean enough and I only had to wait ten minutes for a shower on one morning (we were there for two nights). Plenty of hot water. The owner is very laid back although the site was impeccable with neatly mown grass and tidy edges. There is a nice beach down a steep hill, I wouldnt like to push a laden buggy up there but it is possible if you have arms like popeye. There were lots of flys on the beach which spoiled our picnic but there is lovely little cafe at the bottom of the hill that isnt too expensive and does nice sandwiches to eat in or takeaway.

I've just got back from this wonderful campsite. Although the weather wasn't perfect I still enjoyed myself.I'd say this is mainly a family campsite so it is quite quiet. The shower / toilet block was small (2 showers, 3 toilets) but cleaned regularly. There is a pub 5 minutes walk away, and a bus every hour that goes to Whitby, Scarborough and middlesbrough which is useful. There isn't entertainment availiable on site, but there is a small wood and enough grass for children to play on. (But use ur imagination- my face paints created hours of entertainment for myself and friends, aswell as the child camping next door. All in all, I'd recomend this campsite to anyone wanting a relaxing trip away.

We have stayed on this site several times and can recommend it. The site is basic but exceptionally clean facilities. Owners are friendly and give the impression they just want you to enjoy your stay. We will definitely be returning in 2007.

Stayed here a couple of times and will certainly be going back again. The owners of the site couldn't be more helpful and it is a very tidy well maintained site. The toilets, showers, washing up area are regularly cleaned and there is even a freezer which is handy for your cool bag ice packs. Its a challenging walk back from the beach, for those who aren't too keen on walking up steep hills it may be advisable to take a car. Only a short walk into Hinderwell where there are a couple of decent pubs that do good food. I find it a good base for exploring the east coast and am planning on going back next year.

We stopped at this site for a long weekend, arriving mid afternoon on the Friday. It is a very clean tidy site with easy access to a fantastic beach - great for our 3 year old & launching our kayak. On the downside, the site does not appear to have any rules so we were kept awake until 3am but our inconsiderate neighbours on the first night! The site allows group camping and dogs - which may be good or bad, depending on your views.

We had a tent and the weather was awful, but the site was quiet and well kept. The amenities were clean and pleasant. We had no problems with this site and We will return this year, 2006, with our caravan rig. The steep walk to the beach was testing, but well worth it. A little cafe at the bottom of the hill was a welcome and friendly break. Intended to go windsurfing, but no other sailors at the time (not wise to sail alone} hope to next time. We took the rout past the hotel on the way back this was a testing climb, but there are seats on the path back. After a few days of this trip you get quite used to the hill and it must be good for you ?

September 2005 We have just returned from a weekend spent camping at this site. It is a well maintained site, not expensive but yes the toilet facilities are minimal, the showers are basic and did get a bit muddy(my only grumble), it is a great little place and runswick bay is fantastic good old sea, beach and cafe / shop. Our 9 year old had a great time. The views are amazing and time seems to stand still, we will definately be going again soon.

August 2005 This is a lovely quiet camp site which is secluded with trees, the grass is well kept and the toilet facilities were clean. There is no main road running past creating noise or safety hazard for the children! You get to the site by travelling up a lane which is solely used for the site. The beach was clean but down a very very steep hill! Take the car if you have a buggy! We had a great time x
