August 2005 Just spent 4 nights on this site, our first family camping holiday.
What an excellent site this is - it certainly won't be our last visit.
The shower block could be a little bigger, maybe, although we didn't really have a problem.
I can thoroughly recommend this site and it's surrounded by some wonderful little villages such as Runswick Bay and Staiths and of course Whitby is only 8 miles away.

May 2005 Just spent a great Bank Holiday Weekend at this site, well 5 nights to be correct.
The site is in an ideal location, the shower block though not the biggest is kept very clean. Two showers, two urinals and three loo's in the gent's. Wife say's there were three loo's and two showers in the ladies. Showers were small too no hand stands in these showers I am afraid, but disabled shower room was OK for the family with kid's like us.
Internal pan wash room was OK, with a washer and dryer (tokens) and a free freezer.
With Runswick Bay just down the road this was a great hit with the kids, fossil hunting and playing on the beach too. Good thing also the cafe shop has no expensive rides though provides good snacks and bucket and spades etc.
We will return back to this site.

April 2004 It is a lovely site, we have been going here 2 or 3 times a year for over 6 years and think the area and site are great. Although the facilities are only small they are always clean. It is best to use the site when it is not a bank holiday as it can get a little crowded and you will have to queue for the facilities. We love Runswick!!!

August 2004 Nice quiet site with No "holiday park" extras, and even the basics can be streached when busy. Beware of pitches in furthest feild from office / toilets. Saw them flooded out to over 12" in places last week. That was exeptional weather though. Try to visit Staiths a couple of miles north. One of the lovliest seaside villages iv'e ever seen. Steep climbs back up hill from both Staiths and Runswick, though you can park at bottom in Runswick Bay if you get up early.

July 2004 Great site with good pitches. I recommend going on the middle field as the pitches are flatter there. Also as there is only one toilet block and you are nearer. The only bad point was the long queue for the shower in the morning

24 july 2004 Realy good site. Plenty of flat pitches and room for the kids to play. Walk to the beach is good for the health and very steep!!!. Local pub at the top of the path is good for on the way back to your tent. Only one down side. It was busy when we visited and there is only one toilet block for three fields. We had to wait some time in the morning for a shower. We will be visiting again but out of high season.

July 2004 This campsite is nice and peaceful. It has very clean showers, a wash room and laundry room. Everything you need really. It does lack a shop, but 1 mile down the road is the village of Hinderwell. This has adequate shops, pubs etc. Everyone on the campsite was very friendly. The site is sheltered by trees. Would definately stay again.

Easter 2003 A smashing little campsite, don't go if you like big sites with games rooms, swimming pools, etc. This is a small and quiet site with a nice toilet block and really friendly owners. There was no registration system when we went, it was all based on honesty - you just paid when you left! Costs about £10 per night for a tent and 2 people. There is also a freezer you can use in the washing area and a coin-slot washing machine if you need it.
Runswick is a sleepy North Yorks coastal village, unfortunately nearly all the houses are now holiday homes but the place still has a nice feel. There are 2 reasonable pubs, the food is OK'ish (pub grub) not restaurant standard. A lovely half day walk down to Whitby where you can go to the best chippy in Britain (The Magpie) then you can catch a regular bus service back (picks up from by the supermarket).
