Just back from our 2nd visit to this site. It is a fantastic site. Owners are friendly & helpful even when husband back into a sign on our 1st visit.
Toilets are warm & clean with plenty of spare toilet rolls. Showers are free & warm. Always hot water for pot washing.
Great bank of fir trees for the kids to play in.
Good pub 5 minuets walk away that serves great food.
Runswick Bay is a gem of a place.
Already booked in for beer festival & a week in August.

Our first stay here in 2013 having stayed about 5 times last year. You can see the improvements the new owners have made and they make the site an even better location for a weekend away
Excellent site, very clean & safe and an amazing location. Runwsick is a secluded location, best kept a secret !
The local bus means you can get to whitby easily & equally you can north up to saltburn well worth a visit.
We shall be returning over & over this year.
I can highly recommend this site & the pub at top & bottom of the hill for a drink & meal.

Just returned from a last minute weekend break at Runswick bay campsite, we didn't look at this site very much before setting off, only to see if it had EHU and was dog friendly. The site was easy to find and the reception staff where very helpful and pleasant. We were given a nice sheltered pitch which was close to the shower block, which clean and warm throughout our stay, with plenty of supplies of toilet rolls etc on hand if needed. We also found the hair dryers useful too.
My only negative comment at all would be that the showers although clean and hot were a little on the small size, and I struggled to hang everything on the back of the door, luckily because the site wasn't too busy, I did risk leaving my clean clothes by the sinks after my first shower, and got dressed in the main sink area. But I think families with 1 or 2 small children to shower would struggle.
I think the site would benefit from a small park area for younger children (unless there was one we didn't spot?)
However I don't think this should put families off, as the site is lovely and ideally situated to enjoy all the coast of Yorkshire, we visited whitby, Filey, and Staiths during our stay. Do be aware that you have to park at the top of staiths and walk down, but the hill isn't half as bad as the climb back up from Runswick Bay Beach. That hill is a killer! We enjoyed the site, and Bracken our cocker especially enjoyed the many Pheasants she could hear calling in the local area. We would definitely stay again.

First impressions how neat and tidy. Facilities really clean and fresh. Shown to pitch which was part hard stand, part grass which allowed us to try out our awning for the first time. The owners were on hand to assist us if needed and were both working hard to continue to upgrade the site. We both like this coast line and will certainly be back later in the year. This site is dog friendly and ours really enjoyed his short break
This site is well worth a visit you will not be disappointed.

Just returned from Runswick Bay camping and caravan park. The location is stunning situated at the top of the bank leading down to the bay.
We have stayed there previously when the site was being run by wardens who to be frank were not very helpful, however the owner's of the site have now taken over the running of the park and a transformation is starting to take place.
Whilst the toilet facilities are basic they have now been spruced up as has much of the site and the owners were friendly and very helpful.
The site is in a great location at Runswick Bay which is delightful and not as busy as the nearby Robin Hood's bay.
The site is well sheltered from the wind by trees and seemed to be well drained.
We ate in the nearby Runswick Bay hotel which has recently been taken over and had a really good meal with some friends we met on the site.
Also recommended is the cafe and the pub down in the bay, a welcome rest recommended before tackling the climb back up the hill.
The kids 11 and 13 would like the site to have wireless for future trips which there certainly will be many as we love the location.

We own a static caravan on this campsite and have noticed a lot of changes this year since a change of ownership.
We don't use the toilet block but have viewed them this year and can confirm the upgrades have been carried out and are much more pleasant.
All the park has had a major overall, all hedges have been cut back and trimmed down and all trees have been pruned.
The office has also had an overall with new friendly pleasant staff!
Ideal for families, the beach is a short walk away as well as pubs and shops.
We have owned our static for over 10 years on this site and it seems to me the new owners have returned it to its former glory.

We have been using this site for 3 years now and have found the facilities acceptable but not great, however the new owners have really spruced the place up and having spoken to them have discovered that they plan to upgrade the toilet and shower blocks at the end of this season. The site is in a wonderful location and the nearby Runswick Bay Hotel serves good beer and food. We have already booked for two more weeks this year and look forward to returning for many years to come.

Well what can I say, Big change to the way things are being run here. Stayed here with my wife and 3 children (aged 4-12).
We were tenting and had a wonderful time,
The tenting area was a good size and level with lots of wind resistance. Grass was kept in good condition. In fact the whole park was kept very nice.
The toilets/showers have been upgraded along with the laundry room which was nice.
The biggest change since our last stop (Easter last year) was the the change in personnel that's running the park. The park owners have started running the park themselves this time around and it has made a big change to the way things are being done here.
All in all a fantastic stay. Recommended

Under New Management for 2013
Thank you to everyone who has added a review over the years, some good some bad, I would like to apologise to the campers that visited our site and didn't get a warm welcome or didn't enjoy it in any way,
This year myself and my husband and daughter are back to running it ourselves, so would like to welcome old and new campers.
There have been lots of upgrades to the site, including upgraded toilet and shower facilities, heaters and hair-driers, so hopefully if you join us this season you will see a positive difference.
Thank you all again Caroline.

The location of this site was great with walks along the coast.
Site was quite expensive in relation to other sites we stay on. Toilet facilities were basic but adequate.
We found the pitch sizes rather small as we had only a couple of metres between us and next unit and on one weekend the unit next to us was 1 metre away (thankfully they were not noisy). However, the whole site felt spacious.
We did enjoy our stay here. Weather was good, plenty for us to do in area, campsite relaxed.
