Quite a nice site that seemed to be well looked after, all the staff we met were extremely nice. My one gripe was that we were mixed in with the tents, I'm sure it would be better to keep the caravans together if possible. The showers were new but the shower cubicles were quite small and didn't appear to drain to well and all had duck boards in them. The toilet block floor always appeared to be wet and not to clean, the hand dryers were brilliant, very powerful. It was pretty busy and the weather wasn't that grand which probably accounted for the wet and dirty floor. But it is a site that we will visit again, it's a couple of miles walk along the cliff top to Staithes and about half a mile to Runswick Bay, both very picturesque walks.

Nice site. No WiFi or any type of phone signal for the whole weekend (blessing or not?)
No problems with electrics at all.
Toilets and showers very clean (and free!) but not enough of them for this size site. Lots of complaints Sunday morning when the shower pressure dropped and you only got a stream down the wall, and as previously mentioned, the stalls don't drain too well and are not very big.
Maybe too many people on site?
Great location for touring the North Yorkshire coast or even further inland.
All in all, I'd go back.

Stayed here first week in August. What a find!
All staff very friendly, helpful & approachable.
Site is immaculately clean. They sell milk, crisps, bacon & ice creams in the office. Co-op 10 min drive away.
Great location also. Handy for the beach, bus stop and a fab pub! Which serves lovely children's meals and is very dog friendly as is the campsite.
WIFI came in handy for our teen.
Have already enquired for next year, can see why people return year after year.
Book this site - you won't be disappointed.

What a beautiful site, with great washing up and toilet facilities, and very powerful hand dryers!
We spent the first week of August here in our 8 berth tent and had a lovely flat pitch within easy distance of the aforementioned facilities.
There are washers and dryers to do laundry, and there is a freezer to re-freeze your cooler packs if you need to.
No shop as such, but they sell milk, bacon and ice-cream, and something else that I can't quite remember, but the milk was a lifesaver.
Great location for walks along the coast and down into Runswick Bay, although you do have to brace yourself for the walk back up the hill! Well worth it though.
Had a good nose at the glamping option, in large fully equipped teepee, which we will be saving up to come back and do at some point in the future, without the children!
A great site that I would be happy to recommend.

Stayed 2 nights at Runswick Bay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Showers and toilets were clean and well kept. Site is in a fabulous location, only a short, but steep walk down to Runswick Bay. Close to the coastal path. It took us 1 hour to walk to Staithes and just over 2 hours to walk into Whitby. We caught the bus back from Whitby as buses run regularly. Would certainly return to this site if camping in this area again

Had a great week long stay here and found the site delightful. Facilities were good despite two showers being blocked. Friendly wardens. Pub that accepts dogs and does food within a ten minute walk from site via public footpath. Bay fifteen minute walk though not for the faint hearted as extremely steep access to the bay. Quite far to shops nearest town is whitby 8 miles away. Only recommendation is to designate family pitches and have pitch for adults that don't have children and want quiet, as lots of children running around the pitches and Playing ball close to other tents and noise early morning from excitable children which was the only negative to the stay. Site does get busy at weekends and would suspect in school holidays but nevertheless would return happily. Great stay.

This site is in a lovely location, unfortunately whilst the grounds people do an excellent job, I feel the site is left to run itself. The toilet block although quite new, I believe, was totally inadequate for the number of pitches. On the positive the bus stop was right outside the site and a couple of nice pubs and the beach were within walking distance.

We've been visiting Runswick for 20 years and now we have a caravan we decided to spend her 40th here (the Mrs, not the caravan's).
Spent 4 nights in a caravan with electric, £96. No extra charge for an awning. Two caravans. One motorhome and one couple in The Firs B&B (dog friendly and they said it was excellent).
Nice welcome on arrival, paid the balance, was given the run down on the facilities and route to our pitch.
Pitch was grass, nice and level, electricity point close and water/rubbish points 20 yards away.
Grey waste and chemical point are in the middle of the site, next to the toilet block.
The toilet block is new, completed only months ago, but I was a bit disappointed, the drainage doesn't seem to have been done correctly and you are standing an inch deep in water, other peoples water if the shower has recently been used. Other than that it was pretty clean, suffering the usual muddy floors when the weather was wet.
There is an adjoining indoor wash up area with washing machines (didn't notice if there was a drier) and a disabled toilet/shower room.
The electric is 10 amp (I think), it tripped quite a few times on our first couple of days.
I spoke to the owners on a couple of occasion and they seemed friendly enough (thanks for moving tables in the pub so the 8 of us and 3 dogs could sit together!), as was the warden (with his spectacular little caravan and friendly doggy).
There are 2 pubs at the top of the village, we had beer/food in the Runswick and beer in the Cliffemount, both were good.
There is 1 pub down in the bottom of the village, The Royal, we had beer on a few occasions here (we've eaten here previously but not this time) and is very good, especially for the spectacular views.
The village is something else, one of my favorite places to visit in the UK, well worth the walk down the steep path or road (amazing views from the path - just walk past the Cliffmount to find it). There is a lovely beach.
Whitby is a short drive away via Sandsend (or a 3 hour ish walk), or take the bus (number 4?) every 30 minutes. Fish & chips is a must, we've done them all, Hadleys is our current favorite.
Overall this is a great site in a great area, with plenty of places to visit, I would definitely recommend it, they just need to sort the shower floor out and it would be perfect.

We have returned from a short stay at Runswick Bay. The site has perfect location, a short walk from beautiful views, several dog friendly pubs/hotels only a 5 minute walk. Runswick bay beach is at the bottom of a typically steep hill for the area, dog friendly and great if you want to sail.
The site is laid out on 3 fields with pitches around the edges and large area for family fun in the centre. There isnt a designated dog walking area, however you are very close to surrounding walks. The site has a quiet rule from 11pm which worked very well for us.
Now for the downside, the shower blocks, they look as though they have been recently refurbished but sadly they are inadequate. The flooring is poor and is constantly soaking wet. The wash basins were sopping wet, there wasn't a time that you could put a wash bag down without it getting sodden.
The showers lacked ventilation and walls were continually dripping, not all shower cubicles had a shower curtain to contain water. They had a mop bucket which always had dirty water so I couldn't even clean the shower myself. The showers are push button which lasts 10 seconds, there is no temperature control, only luke warm water came out.

A lovely site. Big enough to have decent facilities and proper management but small enough to feel welcoming too. The site is nicely laid out in three areas with large open space in the middle of the section that we were in, perfect for a quick game of badminton! It's perfectly flat as well and seemed well sheltered. The location is fantastic - a short walk to a Runswick Bay itself, the perfect beach and a pretty village and a slightly longer one to Staithes. Their glamping tents looked like fun too; I was jealous of their campfires at night when the stars were bright and clear! The toilet/shower blocks just lacked a couple of things - principally a duck board to stand on in the 'dry' end of each shower cubicle to get your feet dry and a curtain between shower and changing areas would be useful to keep shoes and clothes out of the splashes from the showers. We hope to return!
