Just returned from a lovely holiday in Yorkshire weather was fantastic unfortunately campsite not too good stayed for 3 nights. Pitches were not defined very well had lots of room in front until they let 2 caravans and 4x4 cars pitch up in the middle. Taps very close to us which should have been good but they had no drains and taps dripped constantly so always a large puddle of water. The shower blocks were the worst I have ever been and I have been camping for a few years. Only 2 showers which were very small did not attempt to use as there was mould all around the shower tray I used our caravan shower. They were cleaned every day but need to be redone and made bigger. There was not enough showers for the number of people camping. Lots of bits that needed doing i. E tiling in washing up room old sinks and rubbish removed from site. Campsite owner seemed to spend most of his time fiddling or driving his brand new ford ranger. Most sites we have been to we would return Not this one unless great improvements are made.

Just back from a great weekend at this site. Perfect location for getting into Runswick Bay. Really spacious pitches and friendly people on site. Only 2 showers in ladies which might mean queues in high summer but the location and peaceful site made up for it. Would also recommend the Runswick Bay Hotel for food. Runswick Bay now beats Whitby for us!

Just arrived home after a lovely relaxing stay at this site. Weather was beautiful as was the scenery. Lots of lovely walks close to the site as was the pub!
The beach was lovely despite the huge hill to get to it!
Close for visiting whitby and surrounding areas.
The site itself was small and friendly, toilets were clean. Probably one drawback was there were not enough showers but you can't have it all! Would definitely visit again

Just had the best weekend of the year, great site great location, plenty of room, good sized pitches, toilets clean and pleasant, great showers, really nice owners, and to make matters better Blues and Jazz festival 2 days of entertainment, I've paid a lot more and seen a lot less, this really is a great site. Close to the sea side, the hill is a challenge, but stunning one of the best.

Runswick Bay it self is Paradise.
Site, were do I start we only saw owners when we arrived then they disappeared for rest of week they reappeared end of week then the electric was switched of in toilet block. I have read that the toilet blocks had been up-dated well all I can say is heck what were they like before, black mould in showers I know it was end of season but that should not matter. The disabled room was very poor no heating approx 6' gap under door where water could run out so floor very wet no seat for dressing full of leaves water ran down to toilet so that area was always flooded. No lights round site could do with some, grass was cut but bins were over flowing, we will go back to area but site ?

Had a lovely stay at the Runswick Bay Camping and Caravan Park in North Yorkshire. The toilets and showers were lovely and clean and it was always well stocked with toilet rolls and I loved the flowers. There was a lovely country pub really close to the site did not take long to walk to. And we did a lovely 6. 5 mile walk on the tops to Whitby. The scenery was beautiful. There is also a lovely beach close to the site a definite must to visit. We were made really welcome and I enjoyed my chats, a really friendly and welcoming place.

We stayed for 3 nights.
The site was well kept and spacious.
The owners were very friendly.
Toilets, showers and wash basins were clean. Perhaps there isn't enough facilities to cope but I never had to queue so no problem for me.
It's a fantastic area with lovely views and walks and it's so peaceful.
Dog friendly and so was the beach.
We would definitely stay here again. We are mum and dad, 15 yr old teenage boy and Henry the westie. For us 5 nights would be the maximum we would stay. This is because we prefer to make the most of the near surroundings and not take the car out. Well worth a visit.

A decent site. Would use again. The site is at the top of the hill over Runswick Bay. It is predominantly flat and surrounded by landscaped trees (hence no views outside the site) so it is sheltered from winds.
A nice welcome from the owners, and useful 'bikers' rates' which made the stay cheap.
The site is well kept - regularly mowed, bins emptied etc. The shower/toilet block works fine, but only one male shower for the whole site (unless you cheat and use the disabled room round the back) isn't enough.
You need to travel to find shops- Whitby itself probably favourite.
Runswick Bay is a picturesque gem, with white painted houses tumbling down the steep slope to the slipway, RNLI station and beach. The pubs seem popular. The beach is big enough to take any number of people.
The coast either side is an interesting mix of high cliffs and industrial history, though it gets a bit more grim north of Staithes, the harbour of which is a 'must see'.
Most people know Whitby, which is full of interest but lots and lots of people on a nice day. Surprisingly, the best value meal I found was in the pub built on the harbour wall.

We have just had a five day holiday at Runswick Bay Caravan and Camping Park. And it was great, the site was clean and tidy, quiet and peaceful, the owners of the site were friendly and helpful. It was exactly as described in the advert, and we were both very happy with our short holiday, and would hopefully return again another year. A special thank you to owner, who is a great asset to the site, as he maintained the grounds, and facilities to a very high standard, he was always available to sort any issues, with the site. In a very friendly and helpful manner, he also has a good local knowledge of the area, for example; the location of the local shops, pub, and fishing hot spots etc, he helped us to make the most of our short stay, so Thank you! I would recommend this site to anyone, is great for a short stay or for a full two weeks.

Just got back from a 4 day break, the campsite was lovely, extremely clean. Toilet block/shower facilities cleaned and re stocked daily, plenty of free hot water/toilet rolls etc - and a very clean utility room/wash up, plenty of hot water there too. And a washer and a drier (token operated) There was also a fridge and a freezer for you to use if needed. Outside taps and bins were dotted around the site so you don't have to trek every time you needed fresh water or to empty rubbish. Other family members(?) were filling in for the owner's as they were away when we visited, and they were extremely friendly and helpful - we borrowed a longer hook up from them as ours wasn't long enough ! - The only downside I would say would be that we visited at the start of the school holiday's, and as there's no children's playground (that we could see) there were children running around and being extremely noisy in entertaining themselves. To be expected I suppose, but don't visit during school holidays if you prefer quiet? - that said, we did enjoy our break, the site is immaculately clean and the people in charge were extremely friendly and helpful.
