Have been twice to this site. Although very basic found the site clean and tidy. Ideal walks for the dog and kids found the closeness to the beach great. Everyone took notice of the 11 o'clock quiet time. Washing up facilities with hot water was a blessing.

The only thing I would like to change is that the showers are not big enough to allow for one adult and young child. Becomes a bit of a struggle.

The pub down the road was good for food and allowed dogs in.

This campsite has a very basic set up, the showers weren't clean but it had rained all weekend, disappointing that the temperature of the water or direction of the shower head cannot be altered by the individual having a shower. The site is spread out and the field generally flat, but don't pitch on low ground

The site permits large groups and it was noisy beyond the 11pm quiet time limit, also groups of children roaming around I guess board as there are no facilities for them.

Nothing more to say except £9 per person per night its very expensive for a tent. Cant fault the pub down the road excellent food and beer.

The location of this site is great, being situated near to Sandsend and also not so far from Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. Local pubs are nice.

Overall, the site is ok. However, there were a few issues that you probably wouldn't get with a club site. There was no electric for two nights which wasn't great as we had paid for it but had to use a lot of gas (and battery). We did mention this to the warden(s) but they didn't seem apologetic, only stating that it was back up and running (i. E. What's the problem!). The space between each pitch was not that generous and it felt a little too close for comfort, luckily the neighbours were very nice!

The toilet block and showers (x 2) were ok (I have seen a lot worse!) and probably enough for the number of pitches. They were clean though for most of the time but as it was raining this weekend, there were points at which the floor was muddy, understandably.

For the future, we will try a different site because of the EHU problems and also the lack of space between pitches.

One more thing to mention, only analogue channels were available (with a booster ariel) but they were snowy! Ironically, this was not an issue during the evenings as we didn't have electric!

A fantastic setting for a campsite - relaxing scenic walks, fantastic views only a minute walk from site, great beach just a short (but steep) walk.

Facilities on this site are poor - damp dirty small bathrooms.

Office is only open a couple of hours a day - when I arrived with a car full of excited children - I had difficulty finding our pitch - a sign on the office door gave us unclear insructions - once pitched the warden angrily asked us to move.

One of the wardens was happy and helpful - went out of his way to help us and made us feel welcome - the other two seemed to struggle to deal with customers. -handy hint - use the office 4-6 to ensure a warm welcome.

The area is paradise the campsite is far from it!

Quite a large site with not much space between units.

The shower block was small and not vey clean, there were two showers in each which were very tight with little space to get dried and the floor was always soaking wet no matter when you went to the toilet/shower block.

We found it quite expensive for what it was (£19. 00) and we wont be visiting again, having said all that it was better than some sites that we have visited in the past!

It was in a handy position for walking into Runswick Bay which has a couple of nice pubs that do meals, we also walked to Staithes along the Cleveland Way which was about 4 miles and got the bus back which stopped at the end of the drive.

We've often used this site in August for the Whitby Folk Festival. It is a busy site and best to book in advance. The location is great - on the hill above the village and Runswick Bay is a very good, unspoilt seaside location both child and dog friendly. The best pub is the one down in the village itself.

The site itself has fairly basic facilities - fine when it's quiet but the kitchen and toilet/shower block gets very crowded at peak times - best to shower in the early evening or very early morning. It's nevertheless a well organised and tidily kept site in a great location for cliff walks and lounging on the beach

I Have used this site on many occasions in the past and found it basic but very nice.

I haven't been for 3 years due to various reasons. The site is flat, clean, friendly enough, the showers small but adequate. The nearby Runswick Bay Hotel is very friendly and allow kids and dogs. There is chippy van that comes on a wednesday and also a chipshop 1 mile from the site.

The site hasn't changed in the 20 years I've been going apart from the price which was £27.00 per night for two adults and two kids for a basic pitch. I found this very expensive considering there are no facilities apart from toilets and it wasn't even a bank holiday.Others must have thought the same as there were only 3 or 4 tents there in lovely weather in the last week of august.

This site had a good location for anyone wanting a quiet break. Nice flat pitches and the warden did not cram in too many campers. Good food available at local pubs and hotels. Small supermarket a short drive away. Corner store within a 15 minute walk. No store on site.

However, we did have problems with the facilities. The showers had tiny cubicles which made it hard to shower our young children. The showers overflowed due to poor drainage. Also the water tended reduce to a trickle part way through.

We had an area of the site with dodgy electrics which kept cutting out. The warden said that they were previously aware of the problems- but they did not tell us this when we made our booking. Please note the problems did not affect the whole site -just a few pitches. Wash up area did not have plugs that fitted the sink. The site said that it accepts dogs 'under control'. We didn't hink that big dogs running around the same field as toddlers playing was very good.

Not a great site for anyone with kids, but a good location.

Great site. 11 of us went for a 5 nights and had a cracking time. The site is very clean and the staff were very friendly. We did think that the toilet block could have done with cleaning a bit more reguly but also the campers should clean up after they have finished in the toilets! There are 3 good pubs in Runswick, the Royal hotel being the best. The views from the cliffs are fantastic and the 8 mile cliff top walk to Whitby is amazing. Have a beer or two in Whitby and get the bus back. We will definitely return to this campsite when ever we visit the North Yorkshire coast.

As everyone says, nice and clean, the grass is well cut and pitches level enough, bins emptied regularly but the shower cubicles extremely small, it's difficult to see why they squeezed two cubicles in to this tight spot.

Brown Cow 10 mins walk up road to Hinderwell does decent food, guest beers and the bar staff are extremely helpful and the locals good fun. Downside; I thought £24 was pricey for 2 Adults and a child for one evening.
