This is a beautiful location we went for the Easter
Break and loved it.
The facilities are good,showers brilliant.
Small sitting room with comfy seats to eat your dinner, play board games, read a book.
No shops close by at the moment as the on site shop is closed but the lovely new owners have a small amount of stuff to sell in the office, but hopefully someone will take over the shop soon. Until then get some things when you get off the ferry.
They don't have a playground but your children may love the sheep, the deer and if your lucky, maybe the eagles that live at the back of the whisky distillery, just across the road from the entrance. They sell gifts, as well as whiskey, also some soft drinks, good cafe as well.
It's a lovely campsite take avon's soft and gentle for the midges in the summer.

Just arrived home from fantastic week on Arran. First stop at Lochranza which is amazing. The only place I have ever seen deer freely walking around campsite and sheep. The site is basic if your looking for club house and fruit machines don't go. If you're looking for friendly owners (who have just took over) amazing scenery and fantastic walks then go for it. The showers are fantastic lovely clean and lots of hot water. There is no play ground for kids but with the beach 10 min walk away and the wildlife to look at who needs it
Thank you for a stunning start to our week on Arran we will be back.

Great site which has seen numerous improvements over the years since we've been visiting. Just don't forget your midge net!
Facilities were clean with plenty of hot water, despite the numbers of visitors. Everyone is made to feel welcome, be they caravan, family or small tent user. Users seemed to be respectful of the site and there were no litter or noise issues
The shop was well stocked and breakfast in the cafe was excellent. Lochranza is in the north of Arran and is not as well visited as other parts of the island in the South despite stunning scenery so it still retains a sense of remoteness, accentuated by the deer that graze around the site, the mountains and water around.
Perfect for 'outdoor' families. But, be prepared to put on wet weather gear and wellies!

We (2 adults, 2 kids) visited this site for 2 nights. We paid £37 (total). The site is very picturesque, it is situated on a very quite road. It is next to a river. The pitch was flat and didn't go squidgy when the heavy rain came.
The toilets were clean and the toilet roll and paper towels were always filled.
We never tried any pubs etc Lochranza as we had no need to, we were cooking from a stove.
My only complaint was the amount of midges. Living on the west coast of scotland I was already used to them, but I have never experienced anything so bad, I was inhaling them, it was totally horrendous. Had it not been for them I may have stayed longer.
This is not the sites fault, but I believe a problem for all of Arran.

Scenery - magical - sheep and red deer wondering about which was again magic.
Lochranza hotel meals - great we highly recommend to eat there.
Site - ok - we were pitched next to a river I found it hard to sleep from noise where others found it relaxing.
Laundry - one washing machine & tumble dryer - tumble dryer not great.
Toilet / shower blocks - there is a sign which said 'please leave showers cleaner than you found them' which would be impossible - the shower curtains have mould growing up them - not great. The facilities need updating such as more shelving and hooks. The hot water was boiling.
It is expensive for what you get.
It is a good base if you don't need to go to Brodick.

Fabulous! Showers and toilets were clean and warm, the hookups were within easy reach and there are plenty of water taps around. The food in the Stags Pavilion onsite restaurant was excellent and it's opening hours very good. Red deer grazing 10 feet from the caravan was fantastic to see!
Lochranza itself is a beautiful place and that goes for the whole island, will be back!
Go and enjoy!

Just come back from two weeks' holiday in the Lake District and Arran including 5 nights at this site.
Toilet and wash block is pretty average. They are cleaned but are showing their age especially the gents. (Definitely not power showers!) Site seemed pricey considering this.
There is no play area although there is a putting green on the golf course which older children seemed to be using. A small river runs behind the site and can be accessed over a stile - could be hazardous for small children but much enjoyment to be had skimming stones etc. For older children.
Midges seemed a variable problem; an absolute haze of the wee pests when we arrived and were setting up but less prevalent the next 4 days - must be to do with the weather or prevailing wind?
Proprietor very friendly and seemed to oversee the golf course as well. There are no members and it seemed very unstuffy in contrast to the atmosphere at some other golf clubs South of the border.
The highlight of the site (although not actually part of it) is the Pavilion by the entrance which is a coffee shop/cafe/restaurant serving everything from chip butties in the morning to excellent and reasonably priced food of an evening. NB They only take cash at present and you need to bring your own alcohol. There is a small shop attached to the Pavilion with most essentials.
The site is in a beautiful location with steep hills to three sides and the sea a short distance to the North. It overlooks the golf course and red deer and stags are frequent visitors.
Lochranza and the ruined castle are picturesque although we did not try the hotel or shops. The new distillery and visitor centre is just across the road from the campsite and is worth a visit.
Arran itself is beautiful - Scotland in one island apparently (not seen the rest of Scotland so cannot comment on that!)

On arrival site looked quite basic, however lots of room to pitch tent, toilets and showers wonderful - exceptionally clean and lots of hot water. The warden couldn't be more helpful. Stags Pavillion a great place to warm up (Really cold, windy and wet when we were there) with hot chocolate, bacon rolls and a lovely evening meal. Atmosphere very friendly, will certainly be back. Site would benefit from a campers kitchen where campers could prepare and eat when the weather is bad.

This is a great site in a beautiful place. Iain and the team were great hosts, and we thoroughly enjoyed the fare and the company in the onsite restaurant. Like many places in 2008 the weather wasn't the greatest when we were there so we plan to revisit in 2009.

Stayed here for a week earlier in the year and had one of the best times camping ever, despite the ever pouring rain. Good clean toilets, showers and washing facilities although I found the showers small and a bit awkward to turn around in.
Some of the best walks I've ever done are a stones throw from this site and beautiful picturesque mountains and hills are right on your doorstep. The sunsets from Lochranza are absolutely amazing too. Went to the Lochranza Hotel (about 15 mins walk) and had a good meal and good beer although it is surprisingly expensive. A huge choice of whiskeys is also available.
Great cafe on site with friendly staff. The bus service is great from the site too.
I really miss being here and look back on my time with great longing and will definitely return.
