We stayed one night in a gale - so probably didn't see the site at its best.
Very informal with pitch where you like policy. Lots on red deer wandering around the site - but lots of deer droppings too so watch out where you walk. The shop/ restaurant next to the site was somewhat expensive. Two desert spoons of margarine in a box cost £1.85!
The toilets / showers were basic but clean. Overall £16.50 without electric was fairly expensive - we paid less with electric on most sites.
Overall site ok but not one we would stay at again.

Our first visit to this site and we had a fabulous time. Nigel and Kath were a fantastic couple and nothing was any trouble. Plenty of hot water and the kettle in the lounge was great for us as we like a quick cuppa in the morning.
The setting is lovely and amazing to wake up to. Their is a beach just a ten minute walk away and it was lovely and the walk was just as good. The deer walking around the site was amazing, the closest I've ever been to one and they never bothered with anyone.
Went into Brodick a few times and we also climbed Goatfell which was a great feeling when I got to the top and the views were spectacular. D
Definitely recommend Lochranza to other campers, can't wait to go back.

Stayed here for one night following a night wild camping in the hills in a virtual monsoon (good old Scottish summers) and were glad to find washing machines and driers.
The site is right on the edge of a pay as you play golf course which is great if your into that sort of thing.
The red deer wandering round is a nice touch, but seeing the 6ft fences around all the gardens tell me they love to eat so make sure food is not left out.
The shop within the restaurant is laughable but the site office sell the essentials. There is a fantastic butcher in the village too.
The pitches were flat and informal, just pitch where you fancy. Some reviewers from last year tell of midges, we had none at all, maybe the weather.
Location is amazing. Lochranza itself if beautiful, there is the distillery (nuff said) Lochranza castle, the ferry to Kintyre runs every hour and would make a nice day trip. Red deer and golden eagles live locally and there are mountains to three sides.
Though not cheap, the showers, hot water for washing up and hair driers are all free. There is also a day room with kettle and microwave, again all free. In fact the washing machines and driers are the only things you need to pay extra for.
There is a sign by the enhance stating that this is a quiet site, and it truly is. Even to the point where the owner was out in the early evening to tell a group of kids to stop running round being giddy.
Overall I rate this site very highly.

A lovely site with decent facilities although a little basic as far as shower and toilets are concerned. Deer wander around the tents which is pretty cool and there's great scenery all round, with a stream running behind where drink can be kept nice and cool. There's a cafe at the entrance which is quite handy and a pub/hotel about 1 mile away. Very quiet spot and not busy when I was there in July ( before the school holidays). A bit pricey (paid nearly £9 for a one man tent and no vehicle).

What a perfect spot for a camp site, stunning scenery & a short walk into the village. Very friendly owner. We pitched by the river which was level but the stoney ground made it a bit tricky to get the pegs in. The facilities are basic but fine, plenty of hot water, lots of washing up sinks a bonus. There is also a small lounge which would be handy in bad weather. We weren't overly impressed by the cafe next door after purchasing some very poor quality burgers & sausages from them for a BBQ (should've gone to the butcher in the village). Afraid the food at the Lochranza Hotel isn't great either, way overpriced for what it is. Campsite though fantastic, wish we could've stayed longer.

Our first time to this site, we were amazed by the fantastic views. Waking up to a beautiful sunrise and grazing red deer, just next to the tent!
We had such a friendly and relaxed welcome from Nigel and Kath, the new owners. They helped make our stay most enjoyable and knew such a lot about the area and the wildlife.
The site was neat and well kept, the shower / toilet block was very clean and full of hot water at all times. There are also a clothes washing machine and dryer, very handy if you do a lot of walking or get wet.
The reception also sells some basic goods, which is good as the nearest shop is a driving distance away. There is also a café / restaurant on site, which provides breakfast, ice creams, as well as the standard meals.
There is also the Lochranza hotel within walking distance which has a bar which serves good food. Also the distillery a few minutes up the road is well worth a visit.
We will be back as soon as we can and would thoroughly recommend it.

An excellent location, probably the best view from a campsite ever. A refreshing site in that its not all uniform 'vans in rows'! In fact we were told to pretty much pitch where we wanted although it was quiet when we were there.
New owners this year seem to be doing a good job. Good to hear the on site cafe / restaurant has now opened. Although the Lochranza Bay Hotel had good food and service and was well worth the short walk to it. The distillery near by is definitely worth a visit, a 5 minute walk away. The whisky was very good too.
Its a shame it is so far from our home in South Wales but we will try and get back as soon as we can and this time stay longer that 2 days!

This is a fantastic setting for a site, with Red Deer wandering freely on the site, which is situated next to a pay and play golf course
The site showers and toilets are kept very clean and tidy, there is a small restaurant / cafe next to the site for evening meals and reception keep a few items
There are walks / bike rides you can do from the site, also the sea is close, and good access to the rest of Arran,
Nigel and Kath are very helpful owners and know a lot of the activities that take place in the area, and are very approachable for advice
Certainly worth a visit

The new warden was extremely welcoming as were the staff in the newly reopened on site restaurant. The toilet block was very clean and the showers particularly good.
The site is especially good for holiday golfers. We had a putting match in the evening while our dinner was cooking. In the morning I was able to play a few holes of golf while my husband was still asleep. Don't expect manicured greens -the sheep and deer help keep the grass down -but the course is quirky and interesting.
Lochranza is a beautiful village within easy driving distance of the many other attractions the isle of Arran has to offer

Went for our first visit to Arran to Lochranza and loved it. To be fair the weather was fantastic and the views were amazing.
The camp site is pretty basic with good showers and toilets that were always kept clean. When we arrived there was no one going about so we just went and got set up, but when the warden got back he came over and introduced himself which I thought was very nice.
Not too much for the kids in Lochranza but half an hours drive will take you to various other parts of Arran with beautiful beaches and scenery.
The site is directly across the road from the Arran distillery which is worth a visit with a taste of Arran Gold a must.
Great weekend will visit again, thanks to wardens who have just taken over and good luck!
