Response to 'Big Mona'. No excuses, you were right! Absolutely unacceptable. My sincere apologies. Other web site reviews will testify to this being a most unusual occurrence. By way of explanation let me tell you that the person who normally cleans had to miss this summer in order to have her baby son. She would have known how to deal with these problems. I commute regularly between home and the Site and returned a few days after your visit when I immediately saw that the waste outlet from the showers had become blocked with soap and hair. This, and some other actions, saw an immediate return to our normal high standards which I know have been maintained throughout July and August.
Please do tell someone immediately. In Reception, which is only about five square metres, my personal telephone number is displayed no less than six times. I cannot be on Site all of the time to see when something is wrong but I can deal with all such problems if someone tells me. For those who do not like to speak there is a letter slot in Reception where a little note will equally get Some action. Iain Robertson, Proprietor

Extremely busy when we visited, very little space between tents (think sardines!) and I was glad we were only there for one night. Rather expensive although the facilities looked good - the Ladies ran out of loo roll by the morning, but in fairness it was exceptionally busy. Also quite noisy with drunks on the other side of the site, but again this was only based on one night's stay.

Spent only two days at Lochranza which was not enough as there is so much to do in the area. The site is a good stroll to the castle and the sea so a bike does come in handy! There are a few hotels open for food and drink all day. The village also houses a great butchers and sandwich shop. The site itself is OK, but there dos not seem to be anyone in charge. If you have not booked beforehand there is an honesty box for both the campsite and the golf course! I also found the toilet blocks a lot to be desired, they weren’t cleaned while we were there nor was the soap or toilet paper replenished. The men's even flooded and stayed that way. Try the breakfast in the little cafeé on site, awesome! It was also impossible to sit out in the evening to take in the stunning scenery due to the swarms of midges. We did enjoy our stay but unfortunately have no desire to return.

Lovely, well maintained site. Very friendly staff who couldn't have been more helpful. Really quiet and peaceful. Facilities were housed in sort of port -a -cabins which doesn't sound very promising but they were in fact fine and very clean. Nice walk along golf course edge. Situated across road from the distillery which was very convenient. We would definitely recommend this site.

Just got home from a week long visit to this site and can echo other reviews - this is a great place to holiday if you love the countryside and don't crave the bright lights and full on night life. Site level and plenty of space to pitch without being on top of the neighbours. Toilet / shower facilities were good and the breakfast at the golf reception/shop was excellent value for money. Lochranza is a very pretty village, the local hotel serves good food and a must for whiskey lovers is a tour of the Arran distillery which includes a spot of tasting the goods - lovely. If you are a golf fan then green fee's can be organised when you book your pitch. Across the island there are walks to suit all abilities from easy forest trails to high level hill walks, wildlife is abundant with red deer seen on site daily, Golden Eagles can be seen hunting over the mountains behind the site, hen harriers can be spotted along the string road and a host of sea birds can be found along the coastline. Pony trekking available at Sannox & Blackwaterfoot. A week here is not long enough so I guess we will be back next year

We didn't stay here but did visit the Isle of Arran. We did stop at the site just to see what it was like. Its in a large field with a gate back onto the front as if heading back to the road. On the gravelled area there is a shop and toilets. All looked very new and clean.
The site itself looked very nice and all units were well space out. Have to mention at this point that it is a camping and caravanning club certified site, so the standards are high. The views are of the hills and moors. Not too sure but maybe from the side of the site might be able to see the sea. There a pleasant walks behind the site normally accessed from a little bridge further down the road. There is a nice quiet walk into Lochranza, where there are hotels with restaurant's and bars, there is also a takeaway. The views are fantastic from the ruin of a castle to the sea and watching the seals on the rocks. The sunsets over Lochranza are breathtaking. There is a nice walk on the other side of Lochranza to a place called Fairy Dell. Its particularly nice to see the honeysuckle growing freely in the hedges. A must see is Arran Aromatics, we didn't visit but I wish I had. There is a fragrance called 'after the rain' and it is the Isle of Arran rolled into one. You will know what I mean once you visit and get hooked. LOL There is a Co-op in Broderick and Lamlash. Lamlash overlooks Holy Island. And there is a great walk up Goats Fell if you are fit enough, there is a stream that runs down and its so clear that you can see the bottom. Lots of places to visit and see, its a great Island for exploring.

A wonderful camp site. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The facilities were fantastic. Lovely hot power showers, good laundry facilites and a shop that also acts as the camp site reception, the golf course reception and a cafe that serves hot and cold food. Within 10 minutes of parking the van and pitching the awning we has a red deer grazing les than 20 metres from us. Other highlights were the tour of the distillery about 100 metres down the road, and watching a golden eagle hunting in the hills that encircle three sides of the site.

Just spent 5 days here - absolutely idyllic. The scenery is breathtaking with deer and stag wandering around the camp-site. The facilities are first class, with a lovely clean toilet block and ample showers (not a queue in sight!). The showers are fantastic and hot, especially appreciated after climbing Goatfell. Separate washing up facilities, plenty of water taps and the recycling of your rubbish is encouraged - how fantastic. Prices were very reasonable too. A 5/10 minute walk to the Lochranza Hotel that serves outstanding food and real ale at reasonable prices. A 15 minute drive to Brodick where there are shops, banks etc. Would definitely highly recommend to anybody who enjoys the countryside and peace and quiet.
