Just returned from a week at Faskally. It was our first ever family camping trip, so we weren't sure what to expect, but overall we were impressed with what we found. So much so that we've booked to go again later on this year.
The showers/toilets/washing areas were clean and easily accessible. Hot water a bit in short supply between 9am and 12noon, so get up and get showered early unless you don't mind shivering! Water pressure in the washing up areas was also a bit lacking, apart from one tap which was like a fireman's hose! Still, it's camping, not Hotelling, so it's not really a complaint.
When we first pitched our tent, we couldn't get our EHU working. I walked down to the shop to speak to someone about it and within ten minutes the owner turned up, got us sorted with a borrowed extension lead and stayed to chat about local history for about 20 minutes - he was quite charming and nothing seemed too much trouble.
Site was fairly busy while we were there, but all quietened down at midnight. Lots of families, so the kids soon found friends and played/explored in packs.
We also weren't sure what there would be available for groceries, so packed far too much stuff. There's a perfectly adequate supermarket in Pitlochry and next time we'll be taking a much-reduced box of 'essentials' with us!

This is a fairly large site with good facilities. It has on-site:
EHU all pitches (no difference in price whether you use hook up or not)
Laundry
Bar & restuarant
Indoor swimming pool
Shop & reception
We arrived around 6.30pm on a friday night (prebooked) and it was busy. We found a good pitch, although all the pitches looked ample size. There is a very slight slope to the site, but the grassed areas were all well maintained and clean. After we were set up we went for a wander around the site. The toilets and washing facilities, were excellent with plenty of hot water. No keys required for toilet blocks. The shop is located as you come into the park and has an excellent selection of camping / touring spares and repairs. Prices for most things were very reasonable. The bar & restuarant open from 6pm until 11pm and food is served from 6-9pm sharp! We know this as we arrived at 9pm for a meal and couldnt get one.
The swimming pool is booked in advance in sessions of 1hr 30minutes (tickets from shop) priced at £1 for kids & £2 for adults. It also has a jacuzzi, steam room & sauna. The pool could have been a degree or 2 warmer and parents should note that the pool is 1.3mtrs deep all over, with a small sectioned off corner toddler pool. My youngest daughter is aged 6 and almost swimming by herself but she couldnt touch the bottom of the big pool and spent her time hanging onto me. The toddler pool is very shallow.
There is a playground for the children, which my 4 enjoyed, and complained when it was time to come home.
Locally there are many walks and tourist orientated places to visit. Pitlochry is walkable (30 minutes) but we took our car as it was quite showery weather.
I really enjoyed this site and would like to go back a couple of more weekends this summer.

Have been to this site a few times now and feel it has pretty good standards of upkeep and cleanliness. The tent pitches are a good size and electric hookup is readily available. The pub and food is very good and the shop is very handy and well stocked. The woodland walk into Pitlochry is lovely as is the walk to Killiecrankie which is just spectacular but a tad more difficult. This is a very busy site so if you like peace and quiet I would recommend it during the week and in the quieter months, we like to do the odd weekend here when we are looking for a slightly more upbeat weekend. The site is really great for kids - would recommend.

Have just come back from a long weekend camping at this site and could not recommend it enough. There was plenty of space for each tent - even though some were huge compared to my 4 man tent. Electric hook-up is also included with all tent pitches and although I had never used one before it certainly made life easier as I could use a mini fridge and the kids could charge their DVD players and games consoles. Toilets were very modern and clean and the swimming pool was fantastic and we used it the three nights we were there. While my kids were in the pool I used the steam room and sauna and although the spa was out of use two nights out of three it was still very good.
The shop is a little expensive so tended to go into the co-op in Pitlochry which is only a short drive away. Overall a very good campsite with loads for the kids and adults alike and an excellent base for walking or touring with exceptional riverside walks - remember the fishing nets for the kids.
We will definitely be back in the summer!

I stayed for 3 nights. It is a big site with three main areas for caravans, one for tents and the there are a lot of static caravans too.
As was bank holiday the site was packed and was a bit crowded as expected, but there is plenty of space for everybody and people was respectful to others.
The facilities were good and the toilets and showers clean enough
The staff was friendly and helpful and the prices reasonable (I have payed more for worse places)
The shop was OK and not too expensive.
There is a play area for children a bit small for the size of the site that tend to be quite noisy with childre ,but as I went on my own I stayed at the top area that was very peacful.
I used the swiming pool twice and was nice and clean.(2 pounds for 1.5 hours)with sauna and steam room included. Never get busy as they sell a limited number of tickets per session, so remember to book on peak periods.
I did not used the pub and restaurant but it seems nice enough.
The area has plenty of posibilities for the autdoors, and Pitlochry is a lively touristic town with plenty of shops and restaurants.
I did this trip mainly to fish and I enjoyed so much fishing the river Garry and Loch Faskally A short walk from the camping you can fish a good stretch of the river for trout and Salmon and permits can be purchase at the boating station in Pitlochry, you only pay 5 pounds for the day. Very good value for money.
I fish a lot and Probably This was one of the cheapest fares I have payed around.
Though after two days of intensive fishing only caught a decent trout (nothing to do with the place and more to do with the angler) I saw anglers catching good trouts and grayling.
Next time I hope to have better look.
Anyway.I enjoyed a good weekend and no doubt I will return to this site in the future.

I have stayed at this site a few times over the years and feel that things have went downhill
The toilets are locked at night which just leaves two toilets to use which means you have to wait. On the two occassions I have been this year the hairdryers were broken (glad I had electrics)
In june we had an ok site however in july as the week went on they started to cram people in onto spaces between sites so it became a bit overcrowded.
We were also expecting to be able to get a bar lunch on site but the bar did not open until 6pm so we had to go into town for that.
The situation of this site is really good. Lovely walks near by especially if yoou have kids or dogs with you

Stayed 2 nights at end of August, really enjoyed it and would have liked to stay longer, but kids had to go back to school on the monday and me to work. Plenty of space to pitch the tent and didn't feel squeezed in (the earlier you get there the better I think). Lovely site, shop well stocked. Really nice swimming pool but I grudged having to pay extra to use it. Clubhouse food and entertainment was great. Toilet block and showers were spotless.
Beautiful walks in the area, walked along river from site into Pitlochry which took about 2 hours and back along the main road which took about 40 minutes.
Will definitely return next year and for longer.

Spent 7 nights at this site with my wife and 2 kids (5yr old son and 10yr old daughter) what can I say apart from FANTASTIC it cost me under £100 for the pitch with hookup. It has everything a family needs. It has a pool £1 per child £2 per adult per session. A very good restaurant (you must try the faskally burger) a descent swing park. Very clean and modern toilet and shower block and a ample dish-washing area.
The site shop sells all you need and don't rip you off. The only thing I thought expensive was the washing machines ? £3.85 per machine but they have to make money somewhere.
They have a strict rule that all tvs and radios must be turned off at midnight.I would recommend this site to anyone with a family.
I will return very soon. Thank you faskally for a wonderful holiday.

Just had four nights up at Faskally and I must say they were very good. Great pitch and fabulous facilities. The toilet block is the best I've been in. Showers are briliant. Good bar/restaurant and shop, all staff very committed and friendly. Would definitely return.
