Spent a few days here last week, camp was very overcrowded. Toilets blocks at any time of day or night were dirty, no toilet rolls, and blocked toilets. Was pricey for what you get and will not return as there are many more sites better than this that don't have the recogntion they deserve.
The plus side was a nice walk to pitlochry and a nice walk to the river and to killiecrankie.

It is located in a beautiful area.
The site was not heavily used at the time so we were able to pick our pitch relatively easily which is just as well because there were a few problems with sloping and with road noise.
We picked an pitch with electric as far as possible from the road and the railway. The pitch had a hook up.
In several Scottish sites they seem to have drinking water in separate taps from 'waste water' and these could have been better identification labels at Faskally.
Toilets were OK - but never had soap in the dispensers. Showers were OK and had a had 'let-down' hardwood seat for dressing. Shop was good. Staff were friendly and helpful, but, overall the site was casually run. It may not be quite so pleasant in a high season.
Periodically, we had RAF low level training flights which were noisy and spectacular but only lasted about 10 seconds!
Did this site pass our 'KUMBAK test' (ie would we use it again) this is a guarded 'yes' but the nature of the clientèle would make us wary about our neighbours.

Just back from a weekend here with my wife and little girl. Overall we had a great time, found the showers and toilets to be well kept and clean. Nice powerful hot showers, nice little folding bench inside shower cubicles to keep your possessions of the ground and dry.
Good under cover pot washing facilities always plenty of hot water, although they could do with a little clean to get rid of a build up off dead bugs etc.
Nice little shop selling all the essentials. Good laundry facilities, washers, dryers and irons to. I used the pool a couple of times with my little girl and she loved it,nice little pool, you have to pay a small fee at shop.
Good size pitches and you can park your car next to your tent. The big question is would I go back, yes I would.Great views round the site, hills trees etc, and pitlochry itself is a lovely little town 5 min drive from the site.

Decided to stay overnight in Pitlochry as it was such a sunny day. Site chosen as it was the first signpost we came across turning off A9.
Spacious grass pitches - chocks essential. Excellent toilet/shower block. Outdoor but well under cover pot wash - easy to wipe down before use.
Well stocked shop, friendly staff.
Had look at pool and restaurant which all seemed fine and nicely set in old farmhouse buildings.
Easy access to riverside walk into Pitlochry.
Would use this site again

Lovely site, well stocked on site shop, very clean toilets and shower blocks.
It was a lovely family orientated site the tents were fairly packed in. There is an on site swimming pool and bar / diner and play park on site. There are some lovely forest walks from the site to Pitlochry ect. They have also started to hire bikes on site and we hired a bike for 4 hrs for our son which was reasonable at £10.
We will go back and visit this site again.

Overall I would say that it is a very good site with beautiful scenery and very good facilities.
The staff were very helpful and having a indoor swimming pool was an excellent bonus.
The shop is well stocked and open 9am to 9pm although some things were a little expensive. The toilet / shower block was very clean and large enough to handle everyone.
The only gripes that I would have are that a lot of the pitches are on a hill so we had to choose carefully. Also the washing up area was not well looked after and must not of been cleaned for a long time with lots of bugs etc. lying about and no plugs which was a little weird.
The cost of the pitch was very good at only £18.50 per night and we got to choose wherever we wanted. The kids loved the playpark and there was plenty of room for them to run around. Pitlochry is just down the road and has everything you could need.

4th time at Faskally (2nd time this year), first twice with tent and now with our touring caravan. Love the site, love the area.
Facilities are brilliant and staff very helpful, mostly Australians/Kiwis, always happy and friendly.
Pool is great but maybe a little to deep, my youngest son is 8 nearly 9 and can't touch the bottom unless he holds his breath, he bought a big inflatable ring from the shop only £2.00 (shop has most things and reasonable) and then he was never out the pool. Note you do have to pay for the pool £2 for adults and £1.50 for kids but it is for at least 1 and 1/2 hours some sessions are 2 hours long, they could maybe do with cutting the price and cutting the length of the session. Only criticism is that the male changing room is communal unlike the female changing room and some children / men can be shy when it comes to changing in front of other people (my oldest son is one of these and had to use the disable changing room / toilet)
Toilets are always clean and the showers warm and free.
The surrounding area is great for walking, cycling or just looking at.
Pitlochry itself is a great place but as its a tourist town it can be expensive, they have a good pitch & putt, which is run by the council and the outdoor arcade is fun for the kids. We go canoeing (inflatable canoe), down at the dam, which the kids enjoy and the distillery is a nice place to visit.
As to a previous comment about the food in the bar/restaurant. The food was excellent and the staff worked very hard to serve people. My kids had chips every night (not healthy I know) and they were great, as for the 'microwaved steak pie' - it was certainly not microwaved and was brilliant.
Would recommend this site to anyone, but we have now become followers of hard standing as the site was a bit boggie the last time we visited.
Site is on a slope, Tent field is reasonably flat, but they are packed in. Area next to tent field for Touring caravans is good but close to trees so you lose the sun quickly in the evening. Site next around play park (good play park, had to go and find my kids at 10.30pm as they where having so much fun - they are 8 and 12) is mostly hard standing but surrounded by trees (midgie heaven), other parts of the site for touring vans are on a slope and you need to level the caravan with bricks/wood. Did notice that there were a lot of long term caravans (grass growing round the wheels etc), but most parks seem to do the same thing.
Overall as I've already said, great site, food good, surrounding area lovely to look at.

We stayed here for 6 nights and loved it.
Chose hard standing as site very muddy after the dreadful summer. Bit of a cheek to charge extra £2 for it when in such a state. Lot of work going on putting in more hard standing pitches, looks as if intend it to be all hard standing. Quite expensive compared to other sites we have stayed on.
Very quiet and well kept site. Ideal for dog owners as you are straight off the site onto miles of woodland and riverside walks. Killiecrankie in one direction and Pitlochry in other (word of caution - if you take the path to Pitlochry via Linn of Tummel it will take you over 2 hours. A lot of it on roads, all but very quiet ones)
Only draw backs were the disposal point for chemical toilets way at the far side of site, meaning a car drive necessary with a full cartridge, and the mens washblock near the play park had only 1 plug between 8 sinks.Minor annoyances.
Overall would highly recommend site. Ideal location for touring from.

We stayed at this site for 6 nights in August 2009 it is a large site with numerous static caravans, touring caravans and tents. The reception was in the shop which is large and well stocked and fair prices. We were asked if we wanted grass or hard standing and as it had been raining well for the past couple of weeks we picked hard standing. We were then asked if we wanted to be near the toilets nothing was mentioned about play area of which our pitch was right next to. As we were setting up the children began to arrive the noise rose rapidly and the nearness to the caravan that some of them came with their speeding cycles put me on edge. A quick visit to reception had us moved a 100 metres toward the shop and away from the playground. Nothing against children mind you but a site this large the play area should be better sited. The hard standing pitches were odd in that you had to cross a two metre band of grass to get to it and the management had placed a wooden post with the pitch number on it at the front of the pitch. This had to be avoided and was awkward. I did see another one broken off whilst we were there by a reversing caravan. The grassed pitch areas were very sloping and at this time very muddy.
I found two facility blocks, there could have been more, the ones nearest us were large and mostly clean however one of the showers had a very large dirty open drain in it. The bar and pool area are well used the pool having to be booked in advance for a small charge.
There is absolutely loads to do in this area around Pitlochry, there are several distilleries we tried one: Edradour which was free with a sample, it was a fine tour and the place itself was very picturesque. Queens’s view is worth a visit overlooking Loch Tummel. There are loads of outdoor activities we tried a mountain safari and also went fishing on Loch Faskally sadly it was raining and the fish stayed in.

We had a great time there even if it was raining, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Pitches were a good size and found it nice and quiet. Kids enjoyed the pool which has a steam room hot tub and jacuzzi its £2 for adults and a £1 for kids for an hour and half but we found it always quiet. The toilets and showers were always clean, it has a shop on site which sellws what you need but there is a co op in town if you need more or a big Tescos in Perth about 30mins away. Recommend the site to any one
