We were back to Faskally for the first time in over 10 years for our first camping expedition with the children and our new huge Killington 900 tent.
Site fees include electric hook up whether you want it or not (being unused to such mod-cons we didn't take it).
New toilet blocks added since we were last there which were fairly clean despite it being pretty busy. Plenty outdoor sinks for doing the dishes but found the water temperature temperamental sometimes freezing - no use for our greasy frying pan. Other times was really hot. So we managed just fine.
Children's play area was great but a bit muddy due to the recent weather. (Never had to look into this type of thing on campsites before).
Great wee bar and restaurant (didn't eat there but it looked good) on site. Booked the swimming on the Sunday morning - only us and a couple of other families there so that was great. Lovely facilities / sauna / steamroom.
A few noisy people in the night having a great time but to be honest it didn't disturb me so I wasn't too bothered.
Nice walks along the river, although we drove to Killiecrankie we have in the past walked it there and back. Blair Atholl nice for a day out and Pitlochry good for the co-op, shops and eating out recommend The Old Mill for drinks or food.
Weather was great which made it all the better.
Criticisms - the on site shop could do with more / better stock but you can get the essentials which I suppose is all you need. We found it better to go to Pitlochry for our food shopping and especially enjoyed the butchers sausages and burgers on our bbq.

We stayed in Faskally over the May bank holiday weekend when it was very busy. It is a large site with lots of statics. We had a nice pitch with plenty of space and it was pretty quiet where we were. The views and surrounding countryside were beautiful.
There was litter around the park, the toilets and showers were not that clean, it is not very nice having a shower with othere peoples hair and dirt all over the shower tray, also the showers were not that hot.

We visited Faskally during the second week of the Easter holidays. We found a pitch on the field above the play park field and thought it was fairly level. Although quite busy at this time of year, we had no problems with noise or any unruliness.
We had to book in at the shop as the reception was closed and had to stand in a queue of people getting their shopping, but to be fair, when we were served, we were given all the attention we required and had no problems with check in on that account.
The site has a good sized shop but we chose to buy our main food shopping from the Co-op in Pitlochry; however it was invaluable for treats, morning papers and rolls – it also sells some alcohol and the usual camping / caravanning stuff.
The site also has a bar/restaurant which was decent enough and the food was fine and an indoor games room with pool tables – though kids were not impressed with the “amusement” area. An indoor swimming pool with spa/steam room and sauna adjoins the bar complex – we had to pre-book sessions – but found that the pool wasn’t crowded.
Pitlochry is an excellent place to visit. There are a host of outdoor activities in the area and some very good shops in Pitlochry, itself. We had fantastic fish and chips from the “chipper” beside the Co-op. A beautiful, winding forest walk from the park leads to Pitlochry and would probably take about 30-40 minutes in one direction.
My main complaint, which was a big problem, is that we found the showers very unpredictable. One day I had to abandon my shower as quite literally I was standing underneath trying to catch the drips. There were occasions when the water was either too hot or too cold, (no control) and I would have liked a mop to clean the muddy cubicle.
Finally, the chemical point to empty the chemical toilet is behind the shop at the entrance to the park and was an uncomfortable hike from our caravan – I would suggest a trolley or some other means of transporting your loo. On the whole, I thought the park was a good choice and we had a fantastic time. I would visit again, despite the showers.

We stayed at this site over the Easter Weekend Fri-Mon. It is a nice site with a dedicated tent field all with access to ehu. It is also a very big site and was very busy.
Pitlochry is nice wee town, some nice places to visit for free, Edradour distillery, The Fish Ladder & Dam (Interesting anytime but especially in Sept the Salmon season) the Black Spout Waterfall. Nice walk along river to Killecrankie see the 'Soldiers Leap' and a visit to the visitor centre for a cuppa before the walk back.
There are numerous places for eating out.
There were a couple of minor issues. If going in a group even if you book there is no guarantee of a pitch next to one another it is 1st come 1st served and some people were quite selfish with regards pitching despite the rules so were actually taking up more than 1 pitch.
Tent field is in layers on a slope and we were at bottom layer unfortunately because a slope this was also quite muddy.
Showers, only 1 person in our party had a shower because he nearly ended up with hypothermia, rest made do with a quick wash at the sink and a top and tail at the tent, baby wipes are a wonderful invention!
This aside still a nice site and would vist again.

Good site, we stayed Easter 2009 Thurs through Saturday. Mixed group of teenagers kept us awake till midnight the Thursday, and the site was very busy Saturday, but earplugs helped get us to sleep.
Swimming pool was great, only £2 adult and our kids were 3 and under so went free.
Great shop, but didn't open until 9am so get plenty milk / bread the night before.
Pitch had a noticeable slope, but we just slept facing uphill and had no problems.
Perth Swimming pool, and active kids centre within 20-30mins back down the A9 and well worth a visit.
Lots of great walks in around Pitlochry, well worth doing a loop across the dam and back across the 'shoogly bridge'.
Can recommend the Old Mill Inn for food.

Liked the site very much - has lovely walks from it - at this time of year would have liked a heated toilet block though! Also seemed a bit weird having to go right back to the reception area to empty the chemical loo (needed to drive to empty it as I was unable to carry it that far) We were told to pitch anywhere as it wasn't busy - even told to pitch on the road in the tent bit as the ground was very swampy and quite a few motorhomes were having problems getting off the grass. All in all a nice site.

Faskally, Pitlochry. Good site with good clean toilet facilities although showers were a bit cold in the mornings. Surrounding area great for walking, fishing with beautiful scenery. Campsite very clean and great to have warden policing campsite at midnight asking for noise to stop to allow everyone a good nights sleep. Only slight complaint would be no availability coffee / small snack facilities at leisure area for spectators in mornings / afternoons, although at busier times of season this has been previously available. Leisure complex good incorporating small swimming pool jaccuzzi and steam room, small arcade games room for youngsters and two pool tables. Pitlochry itself, an idyllic scottish town, various lovely eating establishments especially the Mill Inn, free tours at Edradour distillery worthwhile. Supermarket in town for grocery shopping. We will be back, again and again.

Have to say this site is perfect for families who are looking for somewhere, beautiful, clean and quiet but with plenty around to do for all the family!
The site itself is quite large and roomy, you are not all herded in and cramped. There is excellent facilities ie toilets, showers, camp shop, pub, restaurant, games room and indoor swimming pool.
The staff are friendly and helpful and ensure you have an enjoyable stay. So much so that a party were removed from the campsite because of disturbing other campers with loud music which continued into the early hours! they do not allow single sex parties either so that ensures no wild hen or stag nights lol! they take no nonsense when it comes to disturbing other campers but do let you enjoy yourself round the tent at night!
Lastly the scenery surrounding you in the campsite is awesome, I stood in utter disbelief at how beautiful the location was!
Going back in April for another weeks holiday with the kids who loved it too!

We had a lovely week here. We pitched up at the back of the site away from the play area as it looked like it could be very noisy and full of kids. We had plenty of space and a little family of rabbits to watch every night. We found it very nice and quiet where we were although when walking down to the toilets it was noisy at the campsite, but it was because the campers all seemed to be having a great time. Everyone seemed happy and jolly.
We ate at the restaurant once as the chef had taken ill the previous night when we tried to get a meal. The Faskally burger! Definitely worth a try.
We didnt try out the pool although the kids had a few go's in the games room.
The walks to Pitlochry and Killiecrankie along the shore are fantastic. A big scone at Killie visitors centre is recommended before returning. We did this in torrential rain and still thoroughly enjoyed it.
One thing to avoid is the new Indian restaurant at the far end of Pitlochry. We found the older waiter very offhand and the meals very expensive.

My 7yr old Son and I have stayed at Faskally several times over the last 3 years. This is me just getting round to writing reviews for some of the sites we have stayed at. I must agree with the general comments from other campers about this site, it's good. The pitches are well laid out, ample space not to close to others, all have access to electric hook up. The ground slightly runs down hill, one year we pitched in the second field at the bottom, it rained all night and the water drained to our area, typical really, woke up everything soaked, but hey that's the joy of camping. Only negative we have experience here is it can be noisy after 11pm, would be worth while for a warden to do a walk round enforceing the park rules.
The facilities on site are great, well stocked site shop, bar, restaraunt, and leisure complex, pool is a bit cold, but have always enjoyed a swimm here. Great play park on site, lovely forest walks, and great area with loads to see and do. I have recommended this site several times to friends, who I know have visited and returned with positive feedback, certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.
