A wonderfully quiet setting on this working farm, made our first camping holiday a huge success. We arrived mid July for 2 weeks. There were only 3 or 4 other tents pitched at any one time during the first week, but the second week was busier. On arrival we were shown to our pitch and given a welcome pack with Bill's tours and hints and tips for local beaches included. He and Simon are very helpful and will come to check on you every day. The only time I had to queue for a shower was the very last morning and that was because someone thought it extremely amusing to lock all but 2 of the ladies shower cubicles from the outside whilst they were empty. The shower and toilet block were a little untidy during the second week but I think this was the kids messing around as Simon did his best to keep them in check each morning. The bins were emptied each morning. There are lots of water points and the water is beautiful. There is a freezer and a fridge in the washing up area. The area in the middle for kids to play on is an excellent idea and our 2 made use of this (and so did we!). The site is generally safe for children and I felt happy to let our kids go down to the toilet block on there own. We attended the astronomy night although it was postponed twice before we could go. It is well worth it. Bill sells home produced lamb which is lovely. You can even buy a joint for the Sunday roast once back at home. I would visit here again but possibly for the 1st week only and it was busier the 2nd week. The day on which we left the site was beginning to fill up as there was an increase in the number of pitches available from 20 to 50 - something to do with farmers rights for the month of August

Great site, stayed over a particularly wet weekend though. Fairly new looking shower/toilet/kitchen block was really good. Large open field for everyone, caravans, tourers. Tents etc with open area in the middle for the kids (big and little) to run around. I believe some pitches have electrical hook up. Field is on a slight slope but nothing too severe! The owners are really friendly and welcome you with a welcome pack with tourist information, offers at the local pubs and a secret route to the Eden project, avoiding all the main traffic of St Austell.Apparently! The map was a bit dodgy as it was a simple sketch with no actual road names or numbers but being a wet weekend the area was not busy so following the road signs to the Eden project was simple and quick enough. The actual directions to the site sent to you when you book are a bit iffy too but the site is fairly easy to find regardless as St Stephen is on most maps. The site is a working sheep farm so they offer nice chunks of lamb for the bar-b-q'! There's also the standard friendly three legged sheep dog hoping around! There are astronomy nights when the skies are clear with the site having a couple of telescopes and a visiting professor to guide you through the planet hunting! St Stephen is nice enough village but it is based around the main A road between Newquay and St Austell so the walk from the site can a bit hairy and not really recommended for those of a nervous disposition or with kids! Once there though there a two fairly friendly pubs, the locals appear a bit bored but friendly all the same! Plus there is a co-op shop open till 10pm most nights. For when you run out of bacon, which happens to me.A lot! Would recommend this site as a good base for exploring Cornwall, St Austell, Newquay, Padstow and Truro are not far away, it's not too pricey (We paid £15 per night for the pitch) and the facilities are up to scratch.

We booked Court Farm after reading the reviews on here and we were not disappointed. We arrive on the 30th June, a week after we had been flooded in Derbyshire. We contacted the site during the week to check we were not swapping like for like and were assured although weather was not good, the campsite was not muddy or under water. We were welcomed onto site by Bill, who went out of his way to be helpful. We pretty much had our pick of the EHU's as we were the only caravan there on this week, although there were a number of campers. The facilities are modern, warm and clean and were tended to regularly. The welcome pack given on arrival was very helpful and all information given was correct and made for some good days out. The village of St stephens is only a ten-fifteen minute walk away, although the lane that Court Farm is situated on is very dark so take a torch if you are out late! There are two good pubs, a couple of shops which cater for most needs and a chinese and a chip shop. We loved it here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. I'm sure that in high season it's not as quiet but the pitches are spacious and every effort is made to ensure you have a good holiday even if the weather doens't hold out!. Thanks for a great week Bill and Co.

Court Farm is in a beautiful setting surrounded by rolling hills and is a working sheep farm. We booked by phone after an initial e-enquiry and the response on each occasion was quick, friendly and helpful. A quiet sense of humour runs through the family run site, with the travel directions, which arrived through the post, being a first taste! This attitude makes for a great relationship with Bill and Simon and a warm welcome on arrival. The site is sloping, but only slightly at the pitch positions, and we didn't find it a problem. We also found our pitch very sheltered and we had to leave the site to really feel how much the wind was blowing! There was loads of space for our tent and car and most sites would have put at least one other pitch in the space allowed. The pitches are around the edge of a large field with plenty of space in the middle for extensive ball games and running around. Great for our pre-school aged children in June, and fabulous for hordes of kids playing together in higher season. Bill assures me that he's not going to change this arrangement as (amongst other things I'm sure) it's what people come back for! The shower block was new with 5 showers in each of the 'ladies' and the 'gents' and a family cubicle in each too with two showers to make it easier to get the little ones clean! The showers, loos and basins were kept beautifully clean. The plentiful bins were emptied daily keeping the site smart and cared for. There was a free fridge and freezer and a washing machine and dryer paid for by tokens. These are situated in the undercover washing up space which also has a mirror and sockets for your own hair drier etc. Bill's welcome pack included advice on places to go (and places not to) and directions for avoiding the traffic to the nearby Eden project (an amazing day out!). He also has made up a series of 'Bill's tours' which are day trips to various areas of Cornwall together with recommendations for places to eat. The welcome extended to answering daft questions and providing weather forecasts on request though we were lucky with a whole week of sun! It's not common to find a campsite with an Observatory and Brian Sheen's (the director of astronomy) 'Starry Gazey' evening was well worthwhile, with opportunities to view through the observatory telescope whatever the heavens have on offer at the time of your visit - we saw Saturn's rings and double stars I didn't even know were there! It's the only public solar observatory in the UK and the site is an excellent spot for stars and sun alike. All in all, a fabulous time at a wonderful campsite we'll happily return to. Let the stars, the sheep and each other be your entertainment!

We booked on-line & were pleased to get the last pitch for a premium week in August. We were worried that would mean that we'd picked a real "dog" but were absolutely thrilled by what we found. There was loads of space for the large family tent, smaller pup tent, trailer and our car. The campsite was laid out with a huge area in the middle for the kids (and adults!) to play rounders or cricket every night before it got too dark to see each other, which helped the kids make friends. The showers were hot, with plenty of water, there was a free freezer to refreeze our ice packs & a very reasonably priced huge washing machine & tumble dryer Bill & Simon could not have been more helpful, telling us where to visit, eat, find rock-pools etc. We were given a welcome pack when we first arrived, but their office have an open-door policy for free advice. Thanks for a great holiday.

Lovely site, lots of space for running around, people who run it, Bill (cornish giant at 6`8!) and Simon are so friendly. Simon even parked our van `cos we couldnt pull it onto pitch, it was v. Wet and quite a slope. Thats the only negative about the site, it has quite a steep slope to a few of the pitches and our pitch was at the top of the steepest! (no 27) But the pitches are HUGE! about 20 meters! The weather was lousy and so the washer and dryer were welcome, Simon even did the washing if he was around when the machines finished, folded and swapped clothes from one to another machine, bless him. You get a welcome pack with loads of ideas for days out and even some of "Bills tours of Cornwall" ideas for drives around the locale and places for food, even listing good places to visit. Bedruthin Steps is worth a visit, but 146 steps down and up is a challenge! Lands End is fun, touristy but nice. The ghost walks are a giggle, walking over lands end at midnight amused the kids. The best bit is driving around Cwall and finding some of the most spectacular hidden coves, some would give Jamaica a run for its money! Go to Mousehole while you are there, is so quaint and as cute as a button! Bad, bad thing about Cwall is the roads. A30 A390 are hell! Took us 3 hours to get to Boscastle about 40 miles away, try and keep to the back roads, but beware of the hedges, some up to 25 ft high! You feel like youre driving though tunnels all the time.

Fantastic site! The owners were really welcoming, friendly and helpful. Upon arrival we were issued with a 'welcome pack' full of all the local attractions brochures, maps of the area, details on all the local towns and best places to eat! The field and pitches were large and the toilet blocks clean. Only 2 showers in each block though so had to get up early to avoid the queues! The bins were emptied daily and there was plenty of taps all around the site provided perfect spring water. The astronomy lesson was brilliant and although it was raining the night of the talk, the astronomer was on site most nights for you to go and chat to and have a look at the stars. The farms lamb was also available for sale and tasted yummy! We didn't use the fishing lake but we went and sat there one evening as it was very picturesque. The location of the site is perfect for all the attractions in Cornwall. Only 10 minutes from Eden and Heligan, and only an hours drive to the Lizard and Goone Hilly etc. Thoroughly recommended.

Well, what can we say that has not been said before. The welcome from Bill and Simon is terrific. You are presented with an information pack on arrival which contains a wealth of knowledge about places of interest and other useful local information. The site itself, is simple and clean. Facilities are well provided and there is an abundant supply of hot water for both showers and dish washing. The play area in the middle is superb for the kids to play in without being under anyone's feet, whilst still being under the watchful eye of parents. During our stay there were regular games of cricket and rounders which involved the majority of the children on site (and a few game parents) this added to the friendly atmosphere and made for a superb fortnight holiday. Cannot recommend the site highly enough.

This site is great if you are looking for peace and quiet. We stayed for a weekend and it was so relaxing. Loads of space for the children to play safely. Great pitches, no overcrowding at all. The only downside is no shop, but only a short distance down the road is everything you could need.

Visited end of July 2006. Everything was pleasant, but basic. Nice and quiet when we went giving us lots of privacy. Handy for Eden and other sightseeing. Toilet and showers OK (showers very hot). If you're at the far end of the field it's quite a trek especially if it's dark and wet!
