Travelled with my mum my boyfriend and my dog. Very nice quiet site. Owner greeted us lovely man. The views were amazing from the site. Lovely view of hope valley ridge.
Dog friendly. A public footpath runs along the site into a field so it was perfect for walking the dog. Hot shower very nice. 0. 20p for 6 mins and comes on straight away.
Toilets are clean with toilet tissue and sanitary bags provided. Pub a short walk away. Petrol station and spar approx a 10 min walk.
Very peaceful and quiet. Other visitors were friendly too. A lot of visitors are regulars which says a lot about the site. Booking our next trip soon.

Beautiful location but poor facilities
Site is set in a beautiful location with a stunning view of Curbar Edge, ideal location for walking in The Peak District and for visiting many places including Bakewell, Chatsworth and Chesterfield.
The grass site is sloping, in both directions, but grass is well kept.
The facilities, in my opinion, are very poor for the nightly fee charged. Toilet and shower block is very dated, very basic and needs a revamp. Shower is 20p for (a very quick) 6 minutes. The shower does not provide for much privacy, the basic cubicle is screened only by a nylon shower curtain which a further curtain (old and stained) inside the cubicle surrounding the shower tray.
The coin meter for the shower is located outside of the curtained area, across the other side of the room, the water supply is activated as soon as you put the coon in, so you need to undress, wrap in a towel, dash out across the room to feed the coin meter and then return to shower, if more time is needed, you need to repeat this process whitest wet and soapy, risking bumping into a fellow camper!
It was clear that the shower/toilet block was not cleaned daily, with dry grass on the floor not swept up for several days and the overflowing bin not emptied.
The site was used nightly by youth walking groups ( Duke of Edinburgh type groups) so could get very busy during the evenings, however the young people that we saw, different groups each night, were all a credit to their organisation and to the leaders. They were all very polite, noise was minimal with no bad language.
Overall I thought this site was overpriced for the standard of facilities offered, it is probably best suited for hikers just needing a one night stop over or to those who use the full toilet and shower facilities in their own caravan.

The location of this site is what makes it. It is situated next to a public footpath which runs along a river towards Calver weir. There's plenty of walking from the site itself.
The site is only a short drive away from Chatsworth and Bakewell, as well as walks along Baslow/Curbar/Froggatt Edges (all well worth it for the views!)
It is only a 20 minute drive to the town of Chesterfield, with its famous "Crooked Spire".
The thing that lets the site down is the facilities. I don't think they have been updated since I stayed there as a kid in the early 90s.
Although they do the job, they aren't pleasant to use. I've stayed at other sites for a similar price with the same facilities, but which were much nicer to use. And didn't have to pay extra for the showers!

Stunning views from this site. Lovely walks by the river and an excellent pub 5 minutes walk. Just off the main road down a long driveway.
Stayed one night with friends with EHU. Basic facilities but they serve the purpose. Owner very friendly and accommodating.
Will definitely return.

Great location site with beautiful views. Facilities are basic but functional. 20p for shower and 2 toilets. Located by the river and a great rope swing for the kids. Ducks walking about the site. Fresh water. Very helpful owner who lives on site. Glad to have found this little gem. We will be back.

Do not be tempted if any rain. This site was completely submerged. All vans got stuck and caravan was nearly totalled trying to get towed off the grass. The site itself is well situated and good walks straight from the van.

Great views and lovely walks by the river. We stayed for the August Bank holiday so the site was quite full. The caravans are placed quite close together but it was okay for a few nights. Site is slightly sloping so chocks are needed.
The toilets are fine but didn't fancy having a shower with just a couple of curtains between me and the toilet users!
We paid £19 per night with an EHU so not too bad for a Bank holiday. Loved the walks and the views but showers could definitely do with an upgrade.
Just to be aware the site is open to walkers/joggers etc so lots of foot traffic through the site so not secure also no signs from the road indicating where the site is so very easy to miss.

Nice site with wonderful views. Also has friendly ducks and cows. Plenty of walking tracks. The shower block is basic and 20p coin operated. Great guy runs the site and makes the effort to say hi and let you know what's about nearby. Plenty of space for our young kids to run about and can see them just about anywhere they're playing. We repaired a tree swing there which all the kids on the site had fun playing on. There's also a nice little stream that runs through it and a small walk down to the road to spar shop and fuel garage. About 25mins drive to Castleton witch is spot on. Overall I would say although the showers are basic its a brilliant little gem. Will deffo go there again on our next walking trip.

This is a beautiful little site with an impressive view. The facilities are basic but everything works and we really appreciated the lovely short grass, especially when it rained. On our first day, the owner kindly gave us printed directions for a walk from the campsite, but it is easy to reach many other walks by car. Crows and cows woke us up early but this the countryside! (And earplugs are probably a good idea when camping)
For me the only downside was that there was nowhere to freeze ice packs and it's hard to store butter etc in a tent on hot days. But for a short stay, camping in a tent doesn't get much better than this.
