Fantastic location for local tourist attractions. Lovely country walks direct from the site. Fantastic views of Curbar Edge. Several country pubs with great food within easy walking distance - Bridge Inn, Derwentwater Arms, Eyre Arms.

Toilet block needs upgrading with a separate shower cubicle - just a shower curtain, 20p.

Cannot fault the site except on both weekend visits have had noisy neighbours who have been up until early hours with music, loud talking and shrieking laughter.

The entry gate needs locking overnight with pedestrian access only as vehicles ‘appeared’ during the night to join the already noisy neighbours and the owners then had the arduous task of trying to get payment the next morning which could be avoided. The noise needs policing by the owners as it’s not fair, especially if you have kids and dogs who are disturbed during the night.

Such a shame as it ruins what is a perfect rural location.

Midweek apparently was idyllic!

Great site in a beautiful location. Brilliant views of Curbar edge.

The facilities are basic and tired but the price reflects that.

Easy access to walks.

The perfect location in hope valley to get away from everything.

We stayed for two nights and had mixed feelings about the place. The site has a lovely location, CAFE and pub within two minutes walk and lots of country walks can be taken from the site.

The facilities at the site are extremely poor. The toilets, showers and washing facilities are somewhat primitive. We didn’t find anywhere to get drinking water. Luckily we bought quite a lot of bottled water with us so we were okay.

If this site invested in better facilities it would be great, but right now we will not return.

This site has declined over the years. It can be quiet & peaceful sometimes and other times, units appear to be squashed in.

Facilities have always been basic, they haven't been upgraded at all, but are now also dirty. Floors not cleaned, showers dirty, shower curtain in the gents has black mould, bins not emptied. It has a feeling of general neglect.

It is not expensive, but for what you get I think it is over priced.

The location, for us is perfect, however, if you have children, there is very little for them to do on site.

Close to local pubs and shops and great walks from the site.

Views of the climbing edges.

Before you set off read the arrival information- it’s helpful.

The site is rural with a basic shower block - one for men and one for women. See the pictures on the reviews.

We were two families in two vans. It is v peaceful and very dog friendly. There’s a field adjacent to let the dogs play and run. You can park your vans awning to awning with Richard’s supervision- fabulous!

Also, we were able to have a campfire, again, fabulous!

There’s lovely walks to local pubs etc. , and Calver edge above to explore.

I’m sure we’ll be back - thank you!

Our first outing this year with my husband and 2 boys. We all loved the site and would definitely return.

The only Down fall was the there is a public walk way through the site which would use water and toilets because campers left them unlocked even thought the owner stipulated don’t leave them open.

The drink water tap is outside which was constantly being used by walkers.

Due to covid was quite annoying especially when we have to pay to stay and use the facilities!

The site itself is in a lovely scenic location with great views. It’s nice and quiet and has a lovely path for walking alongside the river. It’s close to a couple of pubs and a café and is only a short drive to nearby to towns like Bakewell, Hope and Hathersage.

Some of the pitches are on slopes so if have a campervan or caravan you may need levelling blocks and depending on where you are told to pitch, you may be unable to use your awning. We were told to pitch our van on a level area (cobbled ground) so we only had the option of putting the awning out on one side which although was grass, was on a slope. In the end the owner agreed to us pitching elsewhere on the grass so we could use our awning but this was still on a slight incline.

PLEASE NOTE:

The toilet and shower facilities are very basic and not necessarily up to everyone’s standards. We’re avid campers but were a bit taken aback when we saw these facilities. The building is basic with bare breeze block walls, cobwebs and old looking toilets and sinks that don’t seem to be very clean. There is hot water to wash your hands but there was no liquid soap or hand sanitiser available – just a communal bar of soap and a hand towel for all to use.

The shower is not enclosed and is only made private by a shower curtain. There is quite a step to get into the shower too so it’s not ideal for anyone who is unsteady on their feet or has mobility issues.

We chose not to use the shower during our stay so I’m not sure how well it works. It costs 20p for 6 minutes and only accepts 20p coins so if you intend to use the shower, make sure you have the correct money.

There is no washing up area on this site either. You can collect hot water from the sink in the toilets but there is a sign that says that the sink is not to be used for washing up and the site owner also made this very clear to us. You can take the water back to your tent/van but will need your own washing up bowl for this.

We were also given limited information from the site owner on arrival so had to figure out for ourselves and with the help of other campers where the bins were located, if there are recycling facilities and where to empty the chemical waste and grey water.

While this is a nice site, it’s let down by the lack of facilities which seems to be reflected in the price.

Great site with fantastic view of Curber Edge. Perfect site for walking enthusiasts as there are numerous routes close by.

For those who like a more leisurely amble, the site is perfectly located near several pubs, eateries and old village.

Facilities are basic but there are toilets, shower (20p) and plentiful hot and cold water.

If you are campervan, motorhome or caravan you will most likely need leveling blocks.
