Owner showed us where the facilities were and gave us different options on where to pitch tents (3 altogether)then left us to it! There are some touring caravans permanently parked here and a constant stream of walkers passing along the entrance drive into an adjacent field - it is a public right of way - but other than that it was lovely.
The camping field slopes in different directions so have a good look before putting your tent up. We were charged £8pn for the larger tents and £6pn for the smaller (4berth) one.
Lovely circular walk from the site along the side of a river to a wonderful weir. Its a basic site but has two toilets and shower (20p) for women and similar for men. Everywhere clean but no washing up sink. We will certainly return.

Well first of all I would like to mention Mrs Harvey, this lady is a credit to campsite owners and I think a lot of owners should visit her site to see how to treat paying customers. Nothing was too much trouble and she always had a smile and a little chat whenever I saw her.
The campsite is fairly small but has everything I needed, nice toilet / shower block and that's about it the location is fantastic with a small stream running at the back of our tent and great views of froggat edge. It's an ideal place to explore the peak district from and with a pub a few minutes away and a small shop just up the road you cant really ask for more.
I will definitely return to the site and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any friend who wanted to go camping without all the frills of a larger more expensive site.

A lovely campsite, in a beautiful location. The kids had endless fun on the rope swing up by the stream which is just at the edge of the camping field. The field itself wasn't particularly big and I felt a little closer to other campers than I would normally like to be.
The toilet and shower blocks were basic but kept very nice and clean - a proper towel to dry your hands on and nice loo roll! Mrs Harvey was very helpful both in person and on the phone (we couldn't find the farm at first so had to ring up for directions) and came out in the evening to chat to campers.
She charged us £10 per night for our 2 tents on the basis that they were about the same size as a large family tent which I thought was very reasonable.
The pub, which is only about a 3 minute walk, served nice cold beer and had a lovely big beer garden for the children to play in, although the food prices seemed a bit steep.
The overall feel of the site was very nice and friendly, and its location was perfect for us (children aged 6, 7 and 11) in that there were plenty of nice 'short' walks around. There is a beautiful weir if you follow the public footpath through the fields and if you cross the bridge you can come back on the other side of the river. It is also only a short drive up to Curbar Edge.
I would gladly return to this site.

Stocking Farm has a large flat open area to pitch your tent, with a small stream running alongside.
There is a basic washblock with 2 toilets and a shower which has a curtain around the shower tray and another curtain to divide the area from the toilets so you can get changed in private. The shower takes 20p and it has an adjustable temperature which was welcome (not a push button or one tepid temperature to suit all which I've had at other sites.)
There is nowhere to wash your pots, you need to get hot water from the wash block and wash up at your tent then tip the dirty water down a drain. If you don't have a washing up bowl Mrs Harvey will provide one.
Dogs are allowed on site but there is nowhere to dispose of the poo - you have to take it off site! There is a nice walk straight from the site to exercise them and the local pub (Bridge Inn) allows dogs in the bar if you want to go somewhere at night (although they don't like to have children after 8 pm - tricky if you have both!). The pub has a great pint and OK pub food.
Mrs Harvey herself was very welcoming and helpful and the campsite is excellent value for money - £8 per night for a large family tent.
We will definitely go back.

This is a lovely little site in a beautiful location. We had a fantastic walk from the site and visited the local pub which had first class ale, the food was a bit disappointing but did the job.
Mrs Harvey was lovely and there if you needed her. The toilet and showers need upgrading but for the price of the campsite you couldn't complain.
The permanent residents of the site made you feel very welcome and part of the community.
Very good site we'll be back.

Fabulous site if you like simple, budget accommodation. Very polite and welcoming owner, Mrs Harvey. Simple shower - 6 mins hot water for 20p! Everybody was suitably quiet while we were there, children included. Not loads for children to do, but friendly enough. Excellent real ale pub + food 2 mins walk.
Very local to lots of good rock climbing & walking. Baslow Edge just up the hill. Thanks - we will return soon.

Visited with my 2 daughters aged 9 & 7.
Basic site but that's just the way I wanted it to be. Lovely location with no frills, toilets were ok, shower just curtain in corner but we only stayed for 1 night so not required.
Plenty of other kids there for my 2 to play with. No playground but rope swing and cows in neighbouring field are enough to keep any kid amused for hours
Quiet at night and only a 5 min walk to the local pub which has real ales and nice looking food. Owner's sister was looking after it, she was charming and very helpful. Very cheap pitch fee as well. We will definitely be returning.

Very basic site, but very cheap too! Lovely countryside location, lovely craft shop & cafe just outside the camp site by the entrance. Take what you need though, no local shop! Well kept & tidy site. If you are looking for a cheap, no-frills site, this could be for you. No electric hook ups. Mrs Harvey, who owns and runs the site, is nice. Located by a small stream, with a lovely walk alongside through the farm fields. You can walk to Grindleford, which has a children's playground. Chatsworth House is close by, but very expensive! However there are free walks round the grounds. Bakewell is also close by, and a lovely town. Very peaceful site.

Great for a basic campsite, toilet block also very basic - didnt fancy a shower as it was just a shower curtain in the corner. 2 toilets per block (ladies/gents) Great pub 2 mins away with lovely food and real ales.
Great walks just on the door step.
No hook ups, quite a few old caravans that look like they have not been used for a couple of years.
Cheap camping fees - dont expect luxury.
