What a cracking little site! From the friendly welcome, to the wonderful views (yes, even in the rain!) - we would heartily recommend this place. We stayed just one night - having got the ferry across the night before our self-catering cottage was ready for us, but could happily have stayed for longer, thanks in part to the superb facilities - well appointed and immaculately clean toilets and showers, and even a small kitchen with everything you could wish for including laundry facilities. Caravans and motorhomes have hard-standing areas, while there is a good sized grassy space for tents, and although finding somewhere level could be an issue we had no problems. Nearest local shop is at Clachan 5 minutes drive away, and the excellent local pub the Westford Inn can be found 10 minutes further on, at Claddach Kirkibost. For real-ale lovers, or simply those wanting good food at a fair price, this will not disappoint!
The site also has a bunkhouse on site which may prove useful for some, although the kitchen/laundry I've mentioned is specifically for campers.

A most impressive site - would not hesitate to recommend it. Others have mentioned the really good facilities but we were really taken by the owners' attention to detail. The toilet block was always spotless, the bins were never full and we even saw the owner fixing minor blemishes in the road. Some reviewers refer to a small number of toilets. We didn't find this a problem, even when there were quite a few residents. Owners recommend that you use the superbly equipped disabled bathroom. Owners were always helpful and willing to provide information and advice.
Views are very good and it was fascinating to walk into the bay at low tide. There's plenty of wild life and we saw red deer, short eared owls and barn owls from our caravan.
Walk along the white sand beaches - superb!
Baleshare island is well worth a visit for the beaches, seabirds and, in the evening, owls.
Balnarald RSPB reserve is well worth a visit even if you only have a passing interest in birds. The seaweed was alive with waders in places.
RSPB arrange an otter walk every week.
Lochmaddy Arts Centre is worth a visit for the coffee and cake, as well as for information about the various sculptures on the Uists. Of particular interest is a camera obscura which is approached by an interesting walk over a suspensions bridge. A mackerel sculpture is also within short walking distance of the centre.
Try to explore the minor roads. Some unexpected gems!
Visit Barra and Vatersay via the ferry on Eriksay. You can leave your car at the ferry and cycle round the islands. Saves a small fortune in ferry fees as bike go free. Traigh Siar beach and dunes are outstanding.
Try the museum at Cill Donnain on South Uist. Only £2 and a nice cafe.

This site is ideally situated for touring the area and easy to find in the first place. There is provision for tents, motorhomes, small caravans and there is also a bunkhouse. There is a separate kitchen for campers which houses laundry facilities and everything was spotless.
The facilities are superb and could not be better. The showers were spotless and included excellent facilities for the disabled.
The views are spectacular.
Owners are very friendly and helpful.
Certainly one to go back to

Easily located and well signposted site with superb views and level pitches. The owners have put a considerable effort into making this an ideal site. On arrival we located a vacant pitch & sited the caravan as both owners work away from the site during the day.
The shower/toilet facilities are first class & I have not seen a better disabled shower/toilet facility anywhere. Areas are heated and spotlessly clean. For campers, the camp kitchen has everything you need to prepare a simple meal and table and chairs to facilitate eating in comfort.
There are laundry facilities with tumble drier as well as drying rack and an outside washing line. I would love to return to the site and would highly recommend to prospective users.

This site is one of the best we have ever used. The location was brilliant, right on the shoreline and within easy reach of anywhere on the Islands. Fantastic for Dogs too - walk on the beach, which was brilliant.
Hardstandings available for Motorhomes, all with good views. Electric and water all available together with Chemical disposal point and Laundry facilities. ~Brilliant site and would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone. Owners were very friendly and helpful too.

This site is everything that you could wish for as a camper. The landscaping is designed with taste. There are drainage ditches round every pitch which keep the pitches dry in any weather and, in this part of the world, it can throw some extremes of weather at you! There are electrical hook-up points at all the pitches, be it tent pitches or caravan - motorhome pitches. The drinking water source is centrally located so- not far for anybody.
The toilets and showers are what you would expect to find in a 4 star hotel and there is also a fully fitted disabled toilet and shower facility so - no problems here as my wife is disabled. There is a well adorned campers' kitchen which is a beautiful addition to an allready very complete campsite.
The owners were the epitomy of helpfulness. The site is extremely well signposted and there is so much to see in the surrounding locality that there is not enough room here to list it all. We stayed for 4 nights and they were some of the best of our 18 night camping holiday. We will definitely return and it can't be soon enough.

The weather mostly cool and sunny with overnight rain and some very strong winds. The site in very exposed to south-westly winds so make sure you have plenty of pegs.
The owners were very helpful and friendly. The facilities very good and they can offer electric hookup for a limited number tents. Well worth it if the weather is bad.
The best bit last. The location was wonderful with great views and direct access for walks on the beach. Thoroughly recommended.

Stayed just one night as we made our way across the Hebrides. Very impressive site next to beach. Well planned and thought out investment, for instance the pitches were level.
Friendly welcome, we were booked but it was full by tea-time. Very good information room. Excellent facilities including campers kitchen for those in tents
Highlight was the sight of red deer, 3 stags and 3 does, grazing for about an hour close by

We stayed here for 4 nights. This was our second visit, as we stayed here last year also. It is a lovely campsite in a lovely position, overlooking the sea.
The owner is very helpful and friendly. It was quite windy while we were there and the site is quite exposed but this didn't cause us a problem and our free-standing awning remained in place.
The campsite facilities are excellent and are kept very clean. The campers kitchen is great for those in tents and there is a washing machine and tumble drier available for all to use. The charge is £3 to use the washing machine, and £4 for the drier.
The area around the site is interesting and very good for walkers. It is essential to have the appropriate OS map, though, to make the most of the area.
The RSPB bird reserve at Balranald is a short drive away and is well worth a visit. We enjoyed our stay at Moorcroft and hope to visit again.

Lovely site, great views, right by the beach which is great to walk on. The facilities are excellent, and are very clean and well maintained, with lots of little extras.
The owners are helpful and friendly. We would recommend this site to anyone visiting the area as a base to explore the southern islands from.
It was quite windy when we were there but not too bad, as you are right on the beach this might be a problem in high winds, but do not let this deter you.
