We stayed here during a wet July 2015. The site has a great setting and all the facilities one would need - easy access from the main road, fresh water, grey and black water disposal, hardstanding for the motor home, excellent views over tidal water to a small island and a very very good facilities block. The owners have worked hard to create a good holiday environment and make visitors very welcome - and if they are not around when you arrive (like most crofters they have a variety of other jobs too)you will find your pitch awaiting you, already reserved for you and marked up with your name! The site boasts a quite unique kitchen/dining, laundry room in a converted crofthouse or bothy. Wonderfully atmospheric. For those who might need one the site also boasts an inaptly named bunkhouse, inside which we sneaked a look. Inapt because, although perhaps the common parlance for such a facility, the word conjures up dormitories with bunks full of sweaty cowboys etc, whilst this is very inviting, modern, pristine clean, fitted and furnished with considerable taste and an eye for comfort and would put many small private hotels to utter shame.
Taken together, the friendly owners vision, investment and effort well justifies a claim to be more than a campsite but a holiday venue.

Fantastic, amazing, must visit again! What a lovely site with the most superb facilities!
I can't find enough adjectives to describe the facilities at this site as they are really spotlessly clean, excellent, the best we've come across.
Stayed for 3 nights and went sea kayaking from the campsite. Iain and Catriona were most welcoming and have developed a site that should be the envy of all. There is a spotlessly clean toilet and shower block, lots of information, and the most amazing campers' kitchen in a separate building. The kitchen has a fridge, double hot plate, toaster, kettle, washing machine and dryer, table and chairs, cutlery, crockery and pans. Washing up liquid, cloths and tea towels are all provided. Adjacent is a small bunkhouse too.
We will definitely go back - we cut short our visit to the Outer Hebrides due to the gales that were forecast, but look forward to completing our holiday there in the future.
If you're looking for a special camping experience - stay at Moorcroft!
Thank you Iain and Catriona (for the facilities and the peat)

What a great little site. Fantastic position and facilities. We picked ourselves a great spot next to the sea loch. It was perfect. Until. The terrible winds arrived. Our tent survived others unfortunately didn't. Thank goodness for the cosy campers kitchen. We spent a happy evening in there after moving our tent to the shelter (all relative) of the toilet block. Everyone we met there, owners and other campers were lovely. We would definitely return.

I've been to a lot of campsites in my time but this is easily my favourite. I can't wait to get back to North Uist and to this wee gem of a place. It's surrounding beauty is just incredible, and in the 4 nights we stayed there the weather was mostly wild and wet! We arrived late evening - 2 massive tents, 4 adults and 6 kids - and the owners were very helpful. We had booked electric hook-up and were told that we could pitch anywhere and they would run a lead to extend it to us. We picked a nice flat spot (not all campsites have these) beside the small but perfectly formed kids play area. That night the weather was wild and in the morning we had to evacuate and flatten both tents to stop the high winds blowing them away. We left them like that for the day while we made good use of the excellent campers kitchen (very cute wee croft with washing machine and dryer and cooking facilities) and explored South Uist and Benbecula. There are some amazing beaches within reach and the causeways and landscapes made us love the place instantly, despite the weather. Berneray is also worth a visit - beautiful wee place. There is so much history to explore here and this, along with the beaches, means there is a lot to fill your time. The toilet and shower facilities were freshly and thoughtfully decorated immaculate at all times. You might not camp anywhere windier than this but it is absolutely worth it. We will be back.

Great campsite. The owners are very helpful and friendly. Good views over the bay and easy access to walk it. There are very well maintained and clean toilets and showers. There is a hairdrier available to use and an area stocked with plenty of leaflets with local information. They have a campers kitchen which again is supplied with everything you should need, including fridge, kettle, cooker, microwave, washing machine and dryer (there is an honesty jar for paying for use of the washer and dryer). There is a box too with food that people have donated for anyone to use if they are stuck. A very good idea if you arrive late on a Sunday as there aren't many places to stock up (they still do Sunday closing on the islands). They even provide clean tea towels and dish washing sponges, ideal if you are back packing or on a cycle holiday (as many were who stayed on site). There is a small play area for children. They also have a bunk house. Lovely site which we will definitely return to when we are next in the area.

Booked by phone for one nit but stayed two. We arrived and were shown our pitch which was on a raised area with good views all around. The showers are very clean with plenty of room and hooks for clothes and lots of hot water. It has a good kitchen in an old bothy, again very clean and well maintained. Lots of walks from the site for dogs. The owners are very helpful and friendly and on hand if you need them.
There was no way for us to empty our waste water as we need a drive over disposal point.
What seemed like a large pitch was not on our second night as another moterhome was next to us and felt far too close.

Excellent location with pristine hard standing and grass. The views from our pitch were amazing. The whole site was maintained to the highest standard with the best toilets and showers that we have ever seen. Free showers and use of a small kitchen area. Great walk across the road that takes you around two tarns. We saw several large birds of prey on one walk. Totally amazing site that we cannot recommend enough.

We spent a week here in May 2015. The owners have worked really hard to provide a well organised, clean and well tended site. They obviously have standards and work hard to maintain them. The owners are also very pleasant and respond immediately to any problems. We were there at a particularly busy time and the power went off several times due to overload but the owner was brilliant. Always cheerful and helpful. The shower block is very clean and so is the kitchen/laundry area. The site has lovely views over the bay from several pitches. It is very peaceful and there are some good dog walks across the road which take you into the wilds of North Uist.

Site is in a lovely position, overlooking a sea loch. Unfortunately when we visited the weather was not very good. It was extremely windy and quite wet. However the site is very nice, well kept and we had a very friendly welcome from the owner. When the tide is out you can walk across the loch to a small island and there were beautiful sunsets. Well situated for exploring North Uist and Benbecular. Lovely deli/cafe in Benbecular which is well worth a visit as is the nearby smokery where we bought delicious sea trout. Would love to return and explore more of this area and hopefully have better weather.

I stayed at moor croft in the hostel, which was furnished to a high standard.
The toilets, showers and kitchen were spotless and the views were to die for.
The owners couldn't do enough, even helping me out with bread and milk when I wasn't able to get to the local store before closing. Iain and Catriona even gave me advice on the best fishing, Brilliant!
