Just returned from 9 days in the Outer Hebrides and to be specific 2 nights at Moorcroft, the owners/wardens are fantastic and cannot do enough for you, everybody on the site says hello and wants to talk. The facilities are brilliant, super clean toilets with FREE showers so unlimited hot water. There is a separate kitchen block which all can use, there is two ring electric hob, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment, cupboards which are full of plates, bowls and cups, utensils and a nice thing which I have never seen before where there is a plastic box in which if you are moving on and don't wish to carry spare food you can place it in the box for other people to use, which whilst I was there did not seem to be abused. Also for your use is a washing machine and separate drier, there is a charge for using these but again very reasonable.
Will I be going back if in the Outer Hebrides, you bet it's a must and forgot to mention great site for walkers and wildlife watchers.

Having previously been at Kilbride for a week, reluctantly moved to Moorcroft for 5 nights. Very pleased we did move. The site was absolutely lovely. As a previous contributor noted, the owners were away and the site was being looked after by the owners brother and sister-in-law. They were marvellous. The toilet block was spotless, and although the gents only has one wc and one shower there never was a queue when I went. I believe that the ladies has 2 showers and 2 wcs. The 'wardens' couldn't have been more helpful, even intercepting me to tell me the football scores from the world cup. The 'camper's kitchen' was absolutely excellent for dishwashing, and laundry. The washing machine broke when we were there and the wardens offered to do a laundry in the house, if we needed it. An excellent base for touring North Uist and Benbecula. I would certainly hope to return to Moorcroft in the future.

Stayed here for 2 days as part of a family holiday in the Outer Hebrides and the only complaint from the family was that we couldn't have stayed longer.
While the owners were away, the site was very well looked after by their brother and sister-in-law. The toilet block was the best I have ever come across in over 25 years staying in hostels and campsites all over Scotland; very clean, plenty of hot water and even a hair dryer for my wife and daughters. The campsite provided a good base for trips on N Uist and Benbecula. The campers' kitchen was very well appointed with a washing machine and tumble dryer for 3 and 4 pounds respectively along with the usual washing and cooking facilities.
A definite return when we are in the area again.

This is a real gem of a site. We arrived off the ferry at about 4. 30 pm. The wind was quite strong and the hostel facilities looked fabulous. To our amazement there was a room available.
The tent is now sulking in the boot of the car!
The pitches do look good though but you need to be prepared for that constant Hebridean wind!
The site is located next to a lovely wee beach and the views are superb!
This is a family run working croft and the owners make you feel very welcome. The place is spotless and I would recommend it to anyone

We used this site as a base for over a week whilst touring the Hebrides, a gem of a site, the owners are so welcoming and helpful. We were fortunate to have a pitch with unrestricted views, the blinds were never drawn!
The facilities are excellent, particularly for those in tents, the campers kitchen has everything you could wish for, a bonus if it rains!
The loos, showers etc are kept in perfect order.
From here it is easy to explore the stunning beaches and countryside of the Uists.
We can't wait to return next year!

Entry to the site is straight off the main road, average has been about 10 caravans and motorhomes and about 6 tents although there is room for a few more, the site doesn't feel crowded and is nice and relaxed. The site has good views out to the West, not directly onto the open sea, but there are lots of little islands the tide goes out a really long way, and the sand left is firm so you can walk for a long way to some of the islands, the dog loved it.
All caravan/motorhomes are on hard standings with electric, there is water and elsan disposal, use green additive only. The facilities block should be used as an example for anyone wanting to set up a site. In the entrance is a hallway with handy leaflets, there are ladies and gents with a unisex disabled, which is one of the best appointed I have seen. There are only 2 of everything, but that doesn't seem to cause a problem, everything is immaculate. The showers are spacious with good pressure and hot, would be on my top shower list. I can't stress enough how clean everything is. Free hair drier.
The campers kitchen is in an original black house, now with a corrugated roof. Huge sink, microwave, fridge, table and chairs, book exchange. Look behind the door for a washing machine and drier paid for in an honesty jar, £3 for washing, £4 drier, there is an outdoor line as well.
There is also a small bunk house.
Handy for the drive to the northern ferries.
It may not suit people with children who needed entertaining, but then it would be unlikely they would be in the Hebrides anyway.
A small site against which all others should be measured.

This is an excellent campsite in a beautiful remote location. The site is well laid out and immaculately maintained. The owners, who live on site, are very friendly and helpful. The provision of free Wifi is most welcome, although you may have to walk nearer the main house to connect. Highly recommended

We arrived at this site without previously having visited the Outer Hebrides and our first impression was of warmth and friendliness from the owners. They were genuinely interested in our holiday and were very helpful.
Every aspect of the site reflects the pride that this kind couple take in their guests, from the spotless facilities, to thoughtful additions to the kitchen/ was up facilities, with attention to the needs of each of their campers. This was evident in the visitors comments in the visitors book.
The location is splendid in every sort of weather and it is a good location to visit the islands from.
We have travelled widely in 10 years of motorhoming and this site would be in our best sites list. Well done and thankyou.

Given this site 10/10 as this is probably one of the best sites we've stayed on - for location, views and facilities.
Arrived to find our pitch marked with our name so parked up and settled in. Owner came around later to welcome us and to collect payment.
Were very impressed with the shower facilities and the campers kitchen is superb. Lovely views from the pitches.
Had booked 2 nights but after the first night with gale force winds and torrential rain forecast for overnight we were concerned that the ferry we had booked to Harris the following day may be cancelled so decided to move on a day early. Called to let the owner know our plans and she very kindly refunded 1 night's fee - totally unexpected as she had no obligation to do that.
Would have liked more time at this site as we loved it. Would definitely stay again and would recommend.
Agree with a previous review that the photos on web-site don't do the site justice.

If you have pre-booked you will find your pitch reserved with your name on it waiting for you. Very good facilities, nice toilets and shower block and separate campers kitchen and rest room with table, chairs, two ring cooker, fridge, kettle, toaster, sinks, washing machine and tumble dryer. WM £3 and TD £4 in honesty box. There was also a nice bunk house on the shoreline of the small rocky cove. The night before we had arrived it had been extremely windy and the owners had put some of the campers who had their tent's damaged by the wind into the bunkhouse and helped them out. A very welcoming site with good facilities. £19. 50 a night for 2 adults, MH and EHU.
