What wonderful hosts Catorina & Ian were - very helpful and friendly. Thanks to them for the present!
Lovely site with great views. Immaculate facilities (need a few more loos though!) campers kitchen and all home comforts were a wonderful idea - great for campers who wanted some warmth!
Would recommend the site whole heartedly - if you do not go anywhere else when here please do visit the Isle of Bernera via causeway (very top of the island) it has the most wonderful beach - just follow signs to the ferry and keep driving as far as you can go - its well worth it when you get there. Visit the grave yard too when you are there very humbling place.
You must go - don't hesitate. Pity we had to leave.

We planned to stay here for 1 night but ended up basing ourselves here for 4 nights as it is such a good campsite, in fact one of the best campsites we've stayed on for a long time. The shower facilities really are like home from home, much welcomed when the weather is cold and wet! Although we only used the kitchen for the washing machine it seemed really well set up, and a nice space especially for those in tents.
The location is great - on the edge of the beach. We had several deer visit the site whilst we were there, a lovely treat. We explored all the way to Eriskay and back from this site, and although it is quite a drive to Eriskay we felt it was well worth it because the site is so good. The owners were lovely and very helpful, but also had a relaxed approach. We just loved it!

We spent 4 lovely days at Moorcroft -the site is well located welcoming owners -very clean, good showers and facilities -the disabled toilet/wash is first class and very accessible from main lobby of the amenity building. The site is well located for touring the islands and we visited Berneray as well -that was well worth the hours drive as it has a stunning 5 mile beach west sands -we had a great trip and we were happy to come back to Moorcroft at end of night for a very peaceful nights sleep and a warm shower. We missed the worst of the gales on UIst as we had moved onto Skye -but many areas of the islands are exposed to winds -we would have felt quite safe at Moorcroft -highly recommended

I stayed here with my dog for four wonderful nights, two of which were in 'the teeth of a gale', but the owners' sons looked after us extremely well.
For twenty four hours I don't think anyone moved because the wind was so ferocious. But we all survived and when the wind abated we saw the beautiful beach and turquoise water only metres from the site.
Perfect dog walking! The site itself is small but delightful. It has the most luxurious showers I have ever seen on any campsite!
There is a bunk house which offers everything for the 'bunker people' and a campers kitchen which was excellently equipped. It is in a beautiful area and there are many walks close by.
There are a few eateries nearby and a well equipped shop about two miles away.
The site is easy to find and is very peaceful but I think you will need to book early as everyone I spoke to who had been there, said that they would return without hesitation. Well done Moorcroft.

Helpful and amusing owners.
Excellent site with warm showers and toilets and a cute kitchen laundry facility in an old stone building next to showers/toilet that can be used as a comfy refuge in adverse weather and a good place to meet people.
Good walks around the site.
Wife had nasty accident on site and owners took her to A&E about 15 mins drive away. They knew the doctor and it was all very cosy and ended well. We were grateful for their help.
A good base for wandering around N Uist, we would definitely use it again.

Good location for touring Benbecula and North Uist.
Facilities were clean and well maintained. There was only one urinal, one toilet cubical and one shower in the gent's toilet block which was insufficient for the 15 units (caravans and motorhomes and campervans) plus 3 small tents.
The camper's kitchen was very good giving the tenters shelter at meal times and the rest of us a chummy place to wash up.
The overnight charges were, in my opinion, a bit steep for what was offered, but it is probably down to supply and demand. Good walking with the dog on the beach at low tide and the fields around the campsite.

Wonderful site, with friendly welcome and meetings with host.
Great views over bay, but be careful if you choose to walk to the deserted croft on the island as the sea does come fully in and quite quickly.
The campers' kitchen is brilliant, and a good social base, with dining area and washing up/laundry facilities included. The sanitary facilities are excellent.
The cafe next to the Craft centre in S Uist sells the best scones ever. A haggis and cheese toastie is a first.
We enjoyed the walk on the RSPB nature trail (1-2h, easy).
The site though is splendid!

Wonderful site. Highly recommended. The Campers Kitchen is so quaint that I expected Goldilocks and the Three Bears to turn up.
The toilets and showers are excellent. The views are stunning. There was a problem with the main water supply during our stay and the site owners provided us with free bottled water (very kind and helpful). Would recommend this site to anyone.
The shops are only a short drive away (Benbecula) and are more than adequate.
The Westford Inn (about six miles north is a really homely, very dog-friendly pub with the most delicious food.
Alistair and Elizabeth from Kent run the place with a little help from Winston the Patterdale Terrier.

Have just spent three days at Moorcroft and I must say that this is one of the best sites on the islands. Everything was clean and the views where great. Very helpful and friendly owners, always looked busy advising and helping the campers.
If you would like to eat out, and leave your van, the nearest hotel, 'The Temple View' is at least a mile and a half away in the village, but it is well worth the walk, as the food is very good at a reasonable price. You will find the menu in the toilet block.

Spent three nights here at end of August. Site facilities are great for campers, an old stone building with new roof. Electric hob, microwave, super hot water, washing machine/drier, brilliant!
Toilets and showers have been recently built/renovated and the men's was so clean I thought it was the ladies! Would really recommend this site.
If you are camping and have a car, no need to bring food as there is a big Co-op on Benbecula on the main road, also shops in lochmaddy and lochboisdale, although they are fairly small.
Trip we recommend is renting bikes from Howgate on South Uist, cycle them (or put in car!) and go to Isle of Barra. Spend the day cycling around. Was a great day out and Barra is amazing
