Arrived with a let up in the rain and a bit early but this was not a problem. We were shown our pitch and got on with erecting our tent before the heavens opened again. This is a very peaceful, very clean site. The toilets and showers are 100% for both male + female even with all the rain we had they were very clean and tidy. This is the best site we have visited even though there is only a small shop at reception and they asked on arrival if we wanted milk and newspapers for the following day. We will be returning for the same week next year lets hope the weather is better. We would recommend this site and Cambridge is not that far away which is a really nice place to visit. Roll on next year.

Took my grandson (7) for his first camping experience. What a lovely site, loos were immaculate and grandson had a whale of a time even though the rain was torrential. Very friendly owners. Lovely flat pitch.

Very good site extremely well looked after, toilets immaculate. People on site very friendly and helpful. Hardstanding area at the bottom site for motorhomes. Very quiet even though they had a rally there at the time of visit. Well placed to visit Cambridge attractions.

Stayed here with parents and in laws who camped for the first time ever with an 11 week old baby and what can I say an absolute delight. We stayed in the family field all next to each other so penned ourselves in and it was lovely, not very busy as kids about to go back to school so virtually had the place/field to ourselves. Great playground in middle, so kids could go off, we have 3 children, 4yrs x 2 and 1 x 3yrs, so it was ideal, as could watch them from the comfort of your deck chair, pleasant walk around the site, and the blackberries were good too, toilets/showers very very clean and small shop on site, we did have a paper each day which was a nice touch, we most definitely plan on going back next year, possibly with some more friends as we have highly recommended , close to cambridge, etc all in all a great 4 days away.

Myself, my fiance & our baby arrived at Highfield on Friday afternoon. We were shown to our pitch by a man on a push bike, what a great idea. We were located in the families area, which has a children's play park in the middle of the field & all tents are around the outside of the field making it very easy to keep an eye on your kids. I felt very safe letting my child who is only a 16 month old baby, wonder from our tent to the playground.
The site is Very clean & tidy, the staff are very helpful & they even supply a photocopy basic map to show cash points & supermarkets. You can order a paper or fresh milk for delivery at 08:00am the next morning, nice touch but not used by ourselves. Saturday night from 18:00 until 19:30 a mobile fish & chip van appears on the site, food was very nice & crispy, shame about them forgetting our order, nothing to do with the campsite may I add.
The surrounding area is very nice, as are the local pubs which seem to be dotted in the small villages that can be found within a few minutes drive from the campsite. There is a 2 mile long straight road right outside the campsite, which at nights can be a motorbike dragstrip, sounding like GP bikes thrashing up & down, but only for a few minutes. No other noise was heard from our pitch.
Would I go there again? You bet, it's a great campsite, toilets are clean & very good standard of decor, even down to the flowers in planters outside. Well worth a stay if visiting Duxford or Cambridge, everything is within easy access but not so near as to be on your doorstep.

This is our third visit to this particular camp site, it provides everything we want for a quiet weekend. The level of maintenance is clearly visible. The showers and toilets are spotless and bins and recycling is emptied on a regular basis. The site is divided into appropriate sections, i.e. Family field, couples and adults. We have already booked for the end of August '07.

Just had to update again as mine is the last review showing and if I'm willing to moan I should be willing to praise! We decided to try this site again and mentioned on the phone when booking that we had been disturbed with noisy children on our last visit. The owners said we should have let them know at the time and they would have addressed the problem which we accepted. Anyway, as a result of my bringing this to their attention we were put on the adults only field (pitch 27). We have had the best weekend away this year. Yes, there were children, mostly Dutch/German and they were poodling around, absolutely no problem whatsoever - I'm wondering if we just hit a bad lot on our last visit. We tried the fish & chip van too this time and it was quite enjoyable, all facilities were spotlessly clean and we were told that Mr Chapman is a mean caravan siter, always happy to lend a hand if like us your reversing is not up to much! The hanging baskets and flowers were in abundance, fresh bread, milk and papers available - lovely, lovely, lovely.

On the whole a lovely site. Tidy and well cared for, impressed with the courteousness and smartness of welcoming staff. We were put on the top field but only just the other side of the dividing bushes and to be honest the noise from the middle field was a problem. Space created by unused pitches was used as a football pitch with the goal being just the other side of the bush divide. What would it hurt to stick to the middle of the field, there's enough room - not funny when you are sitting outside hoping to read the paper quietly. Its not the fault of the owners, just a general downward trend with regard to considerate behaviour and parents taking responsibility for ensuring their children are not causing a nuisance to others. There are clear markings on the toilet blocks to say that children need to be accompanied but these were ignored and we had kids running back and forth shouting and larking about on "our" field. This said, we would be happy to visit again, making sure that we are the far side of the upper field, away from the tenters with families. Washing up blocks, toilets, showers all fine, near to park and ride for Cambridge. 10/10 for owners efforts, its a shame not everyone is camping responsibly.

We found this site ideally situated for Cambridge, which is just 5 miles away (20 minutes on the bus). The site is very pleasant, peaceful, has a well-thought out layout, and we found it very well maintained throughout. The toilet/shower blocks and laundry/wash-up rooms were all spotless. There is a small playground for children, and a small shop on-site. We strolled the short distance into the village of Comberton and found a delightful church (which was open!), and a really lovely family pub with garden.
We found a choice of take-aways in Toft, which is the next village along (approx. 2 miles) from Comberton. There is also a mobile Fish & Chip van which visits the site on a Saturday evening. We didn't indulge (having had chips the night before!) but it certainly looked very popular.
My only criticism is that we were directed to a pitch rather than given a choice of where to pitch. Given the choice we would have pitched along the hedgerow, and away from the trees! We were directed beside some trees favoured by pigeons, which, as nature lovers, was fine, however we found our tent required a good deal of scrubbing each day to remove the droppings!
Would definitely stay again.

Went here for a short weekend break, arrived in the dark later than expected & the proprietor was good enough to use his tractor to manoeuvre our caravan into place, very kind. They also asked if we wished to order milk or a daily paper, very nice touch as my hubby enjoys his morning paper! Very clean, neat & tidy site, grass pitches very well kept too, but remember those 10p's for the shower. We were disappointed with the showers, very clean etc, but the water comes out unevenly & all agreed not easy to rinse the shampoo out, so they need to replace the shower heads. We were in the Family field with plenty of room for the kids to play, however equipment needs up dating a little. Recommend The Three Horse Shoes & The Blue Lion for good standard pub food. Great campsite for visiting Cambridge via park & ride & not too far from the Duxford Imperial War Museum - well worth the visit.
