We have just reluctantly returned from a week away. This site is perfect for all types of campers. We were in the family field. This consists of copious amounts of space, pitches all around the edge, leaving plenty of space around the play area for games of cricket etc. The weather was atrocious and the owners were at hand with a list of indoor activities for the children. This site's facilities were superb, four shower blocks placed appropriately around the site. Washing up facilities, both indoor and out, and a very neat, clean laundry room. The showers lasted six minutes and cost 10p, the laundry costs were £2.00 per wash and 60p per drier. The presence of the owners was not over powering but they were on hand to ensure that camper, caravanner, old and young had an enjoyable stay at the site. We have already booked to stay next July!

Very disappointing site. From the other reviews on this site, and from the campsite's own website we were very much looking forward to visiting here. It was the worst site, out of 10 we have visited this year. Despite having paid in advance, we left early because we couldn't stand anymore.
The site is split into several fields, and I think that depending on who you are, you might have a different experience of the site. The first and largest field which was mostly empty gives a great first impression to the site. It is reserved for caravans and campers without children, so seems to be mostly older people. Strangely though, this field has a children's play area in it. The next field, is reserved for couples with tents. This field, like all of them is bordered by high conifers, and being so small, this field was dark. When we were there, it was absolutely packed with very little space between the tents. Next field reserved for families. Large play park in middle. Absolutely packed and middle of field used morning till night as football field with kids and their fathers shouting and kicking the ball into other caravans and tents.
We were put in this field and when I politely complained about the noise and asked to be moved the owner was extremely unhelpful. If you, and your kids wants to be parked in the middle of a football field and let the kids run riot, then this will be a great campsite for you. Unfortunately for us, our child is a bit too old for this and we like some peace.
There was no toilet block in our field and we had to walk quite a bit to get to the small one in the campers field. Not great if you have small children. The shower block is mixed and although I don't mind paying 10p for a shower, its a nuisance having to have the 10ps

Just returned from a couple of nights here as a stop off on our way back home. Family run site all very friendly and helpful, Milk and papers to order for the morning which is great if you have a husband that can't function without reading the paper cover to cover first thing. We were in the overflow field at the back as we turned up without a booking and with a dog but that was fine although it was a little bit of a trek to loos/showers. There wasn't a huge amount of showers, 2 actually, but didn't have to queue while I was there but they were all that hot, more luke warm as was the washing up water. Both showers and toilets were very clean and tidy. Plenty of drinking water points. A great dog walk around the fields of the worked farm. Tesco and Morisons not that far away. Enjoyed a great couple of days there albeit extremely windy. Will most definitely return.

A really good site. Would recommend it to anyone. Tenter or caravanner. Our initial trepidation when we arrrived was that it all looked a bit too pristine! We like a slightly wilder aspect .however we booked at the last minute .4 days stay over the 2nd weekend in august which they could acccomodate .wonderful. Clearly defined pitches .we asked for adult only and were happily ensconsed with the adult bunch.tents pitched around the edge of the field wonderful shower and loo block inthe middle. 10p per long hot shower. Great facilities for washing up .endless hot water. Family field next door happy place with children on clibing frames etc in the middle. We had a look around the site, and there is a wilder patch at the end of the site with a more open aspect bit further from the loos but looked good. Very pleasant owners could get milk bread order papers etc from the shop. Wonderfully peaceful at night.well monitored by the staff. A wonderful area .cambridge 5 miles away stroll arouund the wonderful colleges .poke around in the fabuluos courtyards.National Trust Wimpole Hall and farm .animals to see gardens lovely house to see.all within 5 miles. Houghton Water mill fabulous. Wonderful walk along the river ouse to St Ives and back through the water meadows .walk or cycle!. Go punting on the Cam .cycle all over the place .MUST visit Granchester .Rupert Brookes stamping ground. Have tea in the Orchard tea gardens in the orchard sitting on deck chairs where many a famous cambridge bod has sat before. They punt down the Cam after the May ball and have strawberries and champagne there! Stroll along the lovely river granta.visit Byrons pool . Visit Fowlmere RSPB nature reserve nice 2 mile walk around hides to sit in .fun for everyone! Ely cathedral not far. Go to Newmarket races .Just so much to do .and a great base to do it from!

We had a fantastic weekend at this site, (helped by the weather). We were pitched in the family field which was set around the play equipment, this was great as we could sit outside our camper and watch our 2 children play safely. The site was very well looked after and the toilets and showers were spotless. This site is only 40 minutes from where we live so it makes an ideal weekend site for us.

We agree with previous reviews a very nice well run site, with friendly staff and very good facilities. Great for visiting Cambridge and its environs. Very resonably priced. The children enjoyed themselves even to the point where one of the dads arranged a tug of war match in the middle of the field.

Just come back from fabulous weekend (excellent weather helped). We stayed in the "Orchard" for adults (we had a kid free weekend!). The site was beautifully kept, well-organised and the facilities were not only immaculate but numerous! The site has a lovely 1.5 mile walk around their farm with beautiful views which we enjoyed. We will be returning (with the children on the family field!) but at least we'll know that everyone else has a family there and will not be annoying those seeking peace and tranquility!

We visited this site 18 months ago and had such a great time that we returned with friends. Everything again was wonderful. The site was fully booked but not overcrowded.there was never a queue for either the toilets or showers, both of which were immaculate. Our papers were ordered for us to collect in the morning.
We used a taxi to get into Cambridge on the Friday night that cost £13.00 (not bad between 4 of us). On the Saturday it was Englands 1st match in the World Cup. The owners had set up a TV in the barn with some chairs and let us have use of the fridge to keep our beers cool in. We had a great afternoon and never left the site all day.
This is a fantastic site and I can't fault anything about it. We will definitely return once again

Very well kept, neat site, numbered pitches, quite a lot of vans with electric hookups and hard standings. As 2 adults in a wee tent we were put in a small area with high hedges, so we didn't have to mix with the vans and big family fields with childrens play equipment in the middle - a nice touch. Showers were good (10p for a long go), there was free hot water for washing up and the toilets were extremely clean and well presented. 3 toilet blocks saved long walks. The shop was very friendly and well stocked and open well after the posted closing time. Only problem was that pitches were very close together and some fellow campers were enjoying their radios rather than the birdsong. Very convenient for visiting Cambridge

July 2005 Only 45 minutes away from our home in Hertfordshire it seemed the perfect spot to spend a weekend with friends. Our party comprised 4 adults and 5 children aged from 5 to 12. We had a gazebo and two tents, one of which was an 18-man size (very skinny men!) The pitches were very large and drained well and the toilet/shower facilities were immaculate - just remember your 10p's for showers (not quite long enough to wash my long hair as well, so needed another one!)and 20p's for hairdryers! There were a couple of play areas in the middle of each field which at first glance seemed quite sparse, but add plenty of children and it became an ideal meeting place and new games abounded. There was plenty of room for ball games, badminton, frisbees, etc. Comberton village was very small - we visited the local pub which took about 20 minutes on foot and the food was very good - it also had a large beer garden with play equipment and bouncy castle. The people running the site were very friendly, there was a very small shop, good tourist information, papers could be ordered and the fish & chip van visiting on the Saturday was very decent quality with a varied range of fare. The fees were very reasonable too - around £15.00 per night per family. This park belongs to the Best of British group which we have always found to be of a very high standard, having now visited 5 of them - not by design but discovered after arrival! We shall return again.
