This is a lovely well maintained campsite. There are some nice little walks around the campsite which are ideal for the very young, lots of caves to explore etc. Bluebells woods is a small woodland area, cordoned off for children to play in, they can't escape. My children enjoyed making stick houses in there. I was a little disappointed with the showers. Obviously the shower curtains aren't doing a great job as the floor was soaking wet. However the separate toilets were always clean and well stocked. The washing up point is indoors so that's nice, with free washing up liquid and a free fridge for ice packs etc. Overall a lovely little campsite with very friendly owners and I will definitely return.

Lovely camp site nestled in the woods. Real nice feel to it, friendly staff, little on site shop with a few basics. Lots of wildlife around including owls and robins! There are some excellent walks from the camp site. You CAN walk to the nearest pub but it is one hell of a walk! It's at least half an hour and down a really steep footpath. We walked up it after it had been raining. I wouldn't like to have done it in the dark! We ended up getting taxis at night to Monmouth, cost about £7 each way. Only downside to our stay was after a great quiet first night (Thursday) the usual family from hell gets the pitch next to ours. 6 small kids (count 'em), all running around, shouting, screaming and crying from 7am onwards. We mentioned it to the site owner but nothing was done. Ooh, the showers were free and always hot. Makes a pleasant change. Also got a freezer where you can freeze your ice packs.

May 2003 This site is lovely - there are new owners now who seem lovely - can't compare as haven't been before! To get there is a bit of a laugh when you are in a 21ft motorhome but we made it round the tiny bends!! The site is mainly for tents - only permanent caravans and only small motorhomes - no RVs here! The shop is basic but enough, the toilets are nice - two of each and a disabled and the showers are fine too.

A lovely scenic area and a beautiful naturally landscaped campsite. A small friendly site with good facilities - mobile phone/torch etc. Recharging point. This was a great site for our first camping trip with a 6 month old baby! Would give it 7 out of 10.

Stayed for a weekend here. One of the nicest sites we have stayed at. It was full, but other sites could well have got more tents in. This meant it had a small community feel to it. Shop stocked the basics, great play area for children. We will definitely be returning again!

Lovely secluded site owners was great and very helpful facilities basic but very clean. A great base for walking or just chilling in the quietness of the site. Shop on site very reasonable prices, only negative point is the access road but other than that I recommend a visit

We spent the first week in September 2006 at this site which acted as a great base to explore this lovely part of the country. The owners were friendly and everything appeared to be generally relaxed. The site has some excellent walks leading from it especially down the hill towards the river Wye where you can walk the couple of miles or so along through Herefordshire Gloucestershire and Wales! all in one walk along to the pubs and hotels at Symonds Yat, there are also some pretty pic-nic spots along the way. Days out included Gloucester, Ross on Wye, Monmouth, Caves at Clearwell and the butterfly farm and maze just down the road from the site. for food shopping we went to at the Morrisons at Ross on Wye or the Waitrose and M&S in nearby Monmouth. The site it's self was quiet at this time of year which was a real bonus especially at night under canvass. The toilet and shower facilities all worked fine .but were basic and in need of updating, if only some small TLC touches such as shelves in the shower cubicles and a pull down seat to out your socks on!. Overall the site is set in a pretty secluded wood and well worth visiting in my opinion.

This was our first time camping and we have just returned from what has been a lovely time. The wet weather didn't spoil an enjoyable trip at such a pretty site. Everyone was very friendly, the site was really clean. We had a lovely spot not far from the 'Bluebell woods' where my little boy spent most of his time building camps with the other children - it was a great way to end the day and for him to make lots of friends. Locally there was lots to see and we packed everything into the 7 days, Tintern Abbey, Raglan Castle, King Arthurs Caves as well as beautiful walks in the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley Walk. I would recommend this site to anyone. It is well maintained, friendly and great for families. There are camp rules which make it a very pleasurable experience for all.

Arrived on Bank Holiday and although site was full we weren't packed in and there was good distance between tents. Quite secluded site as you are in the middle of the forest so you have a bit of a drive if you need anything, although on site shop does supply some basics. Site was surrounded by woodland walks and Symonds Yat was within walking distance(if you didn't mind a bit of a hike). Only gripe we had was the size of the showers. No room to get dry in and ended up getting dry where people were brushing their teeth. Apart from that it was a lovely, family run site to which we will definitely return.

What a lovely small site. The woods kept 3 energetic young children amused, they made lots of new friends, and all seem to enjoy drenching the owner's son with their water pistols! The site was quiet from about 10 / 10.30pm which is great when you've been walking in the area and are really tired. The walking is brilliant, and for townies like us, a real treat to see deer running wild in the forest, although only fleetingly. My 7yr son confidently told other camper of skulls and snakes he saw in King Arthur's cave, but that didn't put anyone off visiting. We will definitely come here again.
