May 2003 Had a lovely week camping here. Our boys (aged 3 & 5) thoroughly enjoyed the woodland area where they felt that they were free to roam, but we knew exactly where they were! We found the new owners to be very friendly - and they were prompt in replying to my online enquiry prior to booking too. The site was full for the duration of our stay, so booking is essential. We found it to be a great place for a holiday and really enjoyed exploring the Forest of Dean. No doubt we'll return.

August 2002 We purchased a tent in August 200l and as new campers (would I like it?)Doward Park was recommended to us by friends.
The owners were so welcoming and since then we have visited Doward Park frequently. We have found the facilities to be excellent. The showers and toilets are cleaned regularly throughout the day and the camp waste bins emptied daily.
We particularly like the location as we can leave our car on site and take advantage of the beautiful walks in the area. The walk to Monmouth along the river is quite a long one, but worth it.
A good site for walkers as well as for families, who want to spend quality time with their children. All is quiet after 10.p.m.
In the peak weeks, it does get busy but the owners are very strict about rowdy behaviour - thank goodness!

August 2002 I just wanted to confirm all the great reviews. I took my two daughters (9 & 5) last week, they'd never been camping before and they loved it, especially the rope swing and the 'nature reserve' (just a little part of the wood really but it's fenced off from the rest so they could roam alone). The owners were so friendly and helpfull. We're going back next year.

July 2002 Thanks for recommending this site - we've camped nearby for years, but were thrilled to find this pretty, friendly site. It was beautifully looked after and the welcome couldn't have been warmer. Everything your reviews said it would be.

July 2002 Just returned from a very relaxing stay at Doward Park. It's a great little site, very pretty and quiet. Kids loved the rope swing in the woods and I appreciated the free use of site ice packs whilest ours were left in the freezer overnight (again, free!!) The shower block was free and very clean. No washing machine though. We did a great walk down to Biblins Bridge, crossed the bridge and turned left to walk along the River Wye towards Symmonds Yat East. There we stopped for a drink at the Scaracens Inn and got the hand ferry back across the river and walked back to the camp site! The last bit of the walk is a steep climb uphill but it took our family just over the hour. We plan to go back there as are loads more things to see and do and the campsite was so peaceful.

May 2002 Just had to add that we were back there again @ Mayday and it was as superb as last year! Even better now that all the footpaths are open again after last years foot and mouth. Even though it's in the woods, it's right at the top and you do get the sunshine - very nice for a summer evening barbie!

We had a restful weekend @ this lovely little site last May and are returning again this year. It's a pretty, peaceful, woodland site with clean and pleasant washing/toilet facilities, and friendly owners. The freezer facility for icepacks, and the option to borrow site packs while yours freeze up again is particularly useful, but it's the setting and atmosphere that really made it for us!It's a long way from Yorkshire for a few days, but well worth the drive as far as we're concerned. If it was nearer, we'd be there more often, just for the site! If you want to relax in lovely surroundings and enjoy a woodland walk, this is the place for you.

This is a lovely little campsite, which is carefully looked after by its owners.
We had a very pleasant stay here, and can recommend it to anyone who wants to see some of the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean. The site has clean facilities and sells the bare essentials, milk and homemade cake etc. The campsite cat is also very friendly (+ cute) and likes to socialise with with the campers!
Very peaceful and relaxing, well worth a visit.
