Visited this site due to purchasing a Trailer tent from a person who lives in Gosport. We stayed for the one night just 2 plus a dog. Unfortunately there had been a powercut before we arrived so everything was pitch black. We were put into the car park due to the powercut and because the grass was wet. The site was a very good one which we fully intend to revisit in the future.
The bar is very nice to sit in for a chat and drink. Although we didn't use the restaurant we intend to in future. The prices were reasonable. The layout of the site is well done with the beach being within walking distance although we didn't go. The shower block was reasonable as was the washing up point.
Within driving distance are various shops and The Cocked Hat restaurant and pub which serves meals 2 for 1. On the seafront we used a cafe called Bayside Cabin which was very reasonable and was very busy.
All in all the area is worth a visit and so is the site.

Just returned from a week in my sisters tourer. Must state at the beginning that I am a camper at heart . Security on this site was good. Swipe card for entrance and exit off site. Bizarrely this was also used for the toilet blocks and you are only given one card which is a little inconvenient with 2 adults and 3 small children. Perhaps the toilet blocks were kept locked to stop the health inspectors getting in because they were grotty. Shower floors had mildew at the back. The shower space was tiny with no curtain to stop your clothes getting wet. One of the showers didn't't even have a seat in it. Impossible to shower with a small child and there was no family shower / bath available. The campsite is in a great location being very close to Stokes Bay and Lee on Solent. We loved the area which is great for kids. The site itself though is not child friendly. There are numerous rules about children ion the bar (funnily enough they were happy enough for them to spend time in the miniature arcade! What could have been a nice grassy area was covered with lots of little roads covered in stones. Obviously there for the benefit of caravanners but there's not much space for children to play and its a nightmare keeping them safe when cars are king! As I mentioned before I'm a camper not a caravanner and I was shocked by how closely the caravans were packed together. Basically you had room for a caravan with awning and a car then it was the next persons pitch. Tent part of the site looked a bit better. In a nutshell, this site could be a gem if the owners spent some money on it. They haven't. It's a dive so we just slept there and stayed away the rest of the time.

The reason for our stay here was the location of my friends home in Lee on the Solent. Reading past reviews of the site and my friends comments we weren't so sure about staying but it turned out to be the nearest site to my friend. On arrival the staff were very helpful and gave good instructions, we were allowed to pitch the tent anywhere due to it being quiet. The first thing we always do is check out the toilets and showers. We were both very impressed and pleased at our choice. We stayed for 3 nights and the facilities were cleaned everyday (it is a shame that some visitors don't clear up after themselves). The only disadvantage was the noise from the traffic, the army base you could not hear until after 9am. The shop had the basics but all we needed. We drank in the bar which was adequate (not sure about the singer) but did not eat as the menu was not to our taste. There is a Buy one get one Free Meals pub about 5 - 10 mins walk away which was ideal. The site is easy walk to the beach, Lee on the Solent and catching the bus (right outside the site). Overall very impressed!

On arrival at the site we were greeted by very friendly reception staff who quickly booked us in. We were told to pick a pitch, and advised us where the main road was and the noise that went with it. Plenty of spaces to choose, this had us thinking as it was a bank holiday weekend!? We passed the resident area of caravans in various state of repair, past a shed, this turned out to be a toilet block!, to a pitch that was next to a lovely stream/ river. Although a public footpath was within 10 feet we had no trouble at all. Area was tidy, and grass cut. The toilets were a let down, showers were green, floors dirty. All this was old dirt , not just on the day. Went to use the second toilet block, just as the cleaner went in and was asked to come back later. Went to shop and back, less than 5 mins, and they had been cleaned! The bar was very busy with locals who were very friendly. Chucking out time was what you would expect from a club, quite noisy.
Great site for a trip to portsmouth, bus stops outside takes you to ferry at gosport and £2 ferry trip to Portsmouth harbor. Although we did have problems here we would use again, simply because the area is quite nice and not over touristy.

Stayed here on the may bank holiday, there was a large group of us, the site was child friendly. The pitches are marked out for plenty of room not like some, the showers and toilets are clean and tidy showers nice and hot. The site is clean and well kept, people might complain about the locals but they helped us out on numerous occasions, and we found the staff and the locals really friendly we will definatly be returning to the site again

August 2005 We spent a couple of nights at this site. Staff were friendly and we were guided to an empty pitch of the right size. Unfortunately is was right next to the main road and traffic was frequent throughout the night. I resorted to earplugs for the second night. The site advertise a children's play area but this has been taken away because of constant vandalism. Food is the resturant was good and cheap. Club house really didn't have a child friendly feel to it so once we had eaten it was back to the tent.

August 2005 A good base from which to explore the area, however not so good if you are disabled, my partner is a wheelchair user and the disabled toilets were more of an after thought incorporating boilers, extremely hot with no window and unable to go inside with a wheelchair and close the door. Therefore wheelchair had to be left outside, also no showers for the disabled. The reception is also unaccessable unless you can walk. On the plus side we were able to pitch where we liked, the pub / gamesroom we used regularly, and the swipe card system for toilets / barriers on and off site was good security. Would visit again but would like to see more improvements made for disabled, how it won an award I dont know.

July 2004 A real surprise to me as a Gosport resident to find out more about this site. Mainly static van site with an area reserved for caravans and tents, the toilets and showers I visited are tired to say the least but I have been assured by an employee that these are going to be completely refurbished this Autumn to a high spec.
The pub on site is well used by locals as well as 'residents' with regular feature themed nights - Halloween Sat 30th Oct. Statics are available to hire and makes a good base for exploring the beaches and towns around the area. Links to Portsmouth and further afield are excellent and frequent and with the new Spinnaker Tower due for completion next year a real crowd puller. A good family base for exploring the area.

September 2003 Me and my fiance stayed at this site a few times and we both enjoyed our stay apart from where our tent was pitched there was a crossing behind the trees on the main road so whenever anyone wanted to cross we would hear the bleeping from the crossing!
The amenities block was well maintained.

July 2004 If you like pristine toilet blocks, a relaxing peaceful atmosphere then this is not the place for you. A very impressive list of site amenities but unfortunately they did not all match the description. A good clubhouse with good food served up in the adjoining restaurant. Lots of 'contractors' vehicles parked in the 'late arrivals' area. We got the impression that the site had several permanent residents who may have worked locally and used the caravan compound just inside the barrier entrance.
We awoke at 6.00am to quite an accomplished piper playing 'Scotland the Brave' from the army training camp opposite. This was followed by 'Reveille' then the 'cookhouse' bugle call. Quite reminiscent of my RN days. A ten minute stroll to the shingle beach overlooking Stokes Bay and the Isle of Wight. An added bonus for me was the the US carrier, USS 'Enterprise' anchored in Stokes Bay. Too large to go alongside in Pompey. Plenty of sailboarders and yachtsmen out in the bay. The local bus service was both cheap and running on time to Gosport, Lee on Solent, and Fareham, (Saturday market).
Site pitches are unmarked, with caravans, tents and motorhomes all mixed up, and probably too close together. Site roads rough and uneven.
A lot of TLC and expenditure required to bring the site up to a good standard.
