Visited this site some years ago and it was bit scrufy then sorry to say it was worse stayed on the large field which had lots of litter from previous users not the camps fault but they should have sent someone to clean up used tissues etc looked like they had been there a while.

As this was a peak holiday period there were very few units on site could this be due to the above or the Road noise was constant didn't get much sleep the toilet block is in need of re vamp or deep clean this site;s location is perfect cant faut it for convience but bit pricy will visit again in the hope they have improved the standards.

We stayed here over the Easter break. We booked without reading any reviews first and when we read them we wondered what to expect! We need not have worried

We arrived and were told we could pitch wherever we liked on a hard standing, and there were quite a few pitches available.

There is a club/pub which we had a drink in, the food looked god but we did not try it. The site is within walking distance of Stokes bay and Lee on the Solent. There is a bus stop outside which we used to go to Gosport and then caught the ferry to P Portsmouth.

On the day of departure there was no pressure to be off by a certain time which was good.

The only criticism is the touring field is tired. The grass between the pitches needed cutting, there were some wooden barriers that had been left where they had fallen etc. The showers are in a wooden lodge type building and they were a bit cobwebby and the shower cubicles needed some serious elbow grease and mould killer. ( Take a pair of flipflops as the floors were a bit grotty). An extra hook on the door or a shelf in the cubicle would be good as they are very small and there is no curtain to keep your clothes dry and one hook isn't really enough to put your clothes, towel and wash bag etc on. Having said that the showers were hot and powerful.

Some of the comments mention nothing for children to do, we took ours and they were fine, if you want a play park etc then book a site with one! The children were welcome in the club and there is a small amusement arcade attached.

We would return.

Very warm, clean toilet blocks. Plenty of hot water with soap dispenser and hand dryers.

Need to bring a sink plug if you want to wash using basins.

Didn't use showers, but they were clean, but need to be careful where you put your clothes to avoid getting wet from shower,

Good sized hard standing pitches.

There was a lot of very heavy rain during our stay, but site drained well, in the circumstances.

Good location for walking, with Stokes Bay being an easy 10 minute walk, with good shoreline walks from there.

Bus stop right outside site entrance, with frequent services to Gosport/Fareham/Lee on Solent, etc

Good selection of real ales, etc, in spacious lounge, and all drinks very reasonably priced.

Only had one meal there, which was freshly made and very good value.

Friendly atmosphere in lounge, and site staff were also friendly and helpful.

Free wifi, but only available in the lounge, not elsewhere on site.

Good site for caravans and motor homes, but traffic noise might not be great if in a tent.

Have just returned from a weeks stay in our motorhome at this site.

We arrived after reception closed so we were made very welcome by the bar staff, who booked us in just fine.

We have quite a large van, and the branches were scraping the roof on the way in, they could do with a trim!

The touring area is quite large, but feels very neglected, with at least one hook-up point fallen over and taped off.

The pitches themselves are quite large and most have a hose-length access to a waterpoint, so that's handy. They are all hardstanding, and appear to be level.

The toilet/shower blocks were clean and heated.

However, there are no shower curtains, and no way to separate your clothes from the shower part, there are also no hooks and no ledges to put your stuff on.

There is a manhole with handles attached for black waste.

We were charged £24. 50 per night (three adults) which for the site was very expensive for all the above reasons. I would say £16 per night would be more appropriate.

The best thing about the site is the clubhouse/bar, it wasn't 'clicky' and everyone was friendly towards us. They have quiz nights and bingo, and there is a restaurant, but we didn't try the foods as its only open for a few short hours.

Helloooo, we are from New Zealand and just finished travelling around England and Wales (over 2 months). We arrived on a windy/rainy day to kingfisher and the lady at reception was very welcoming. She put us in a spot where we would be sheltered from the wind and went out of her way to help us. The bathroom facilities were great. Especially the heating in the bathrooms. The pitch was great, drained well (however, we were not in the tenting area but caravan area due to the weather) so unsure what the tenting area would be like. This site is a great location to catch the ferry over to the spinnaker tower and that surrounding area. The site also has a pub on it - good range of drinks and nice atmosphere.

Stayed here last year as it is very close to relatives in the area, stayed again this year but never again. The toilet block was an inch deep in water when we arrived, never needed the swipe card as door was always open, the smell around the dish washing area was disgusting, there is a sink plug this year but only one to cover all 4 sinks! The taps for fresh water are not very clean and you can't really get a motorhome near. It cost us £23. 00 a night plus £1. 50 for the dog per night, there is no dog walk and no dog bins not sure what the £1. 50 covered? at £3. 50 a night for an awning we decided not to put it up. On our last night a number of cars and vans pulled onto the site and started erecting a number of huge tents, lots of adults and lots of children who immediately started to play tennis and cricket alongside motorhomes and caravans, one motorhomer moved pitch, as all the pitches were pretty bad we stayed where we were. This has obviously been a lovely site in it's day but the current owners don't seem to be interested in upgrading, people will go because of it's location but they won't go back. Next stop was a Caravan Club site, so clean £24. 80 per night including dog and awning, like another world.

Needed somewhere to stop for 4 days while visiting friends in Gosport. This was the only place available so we had to use it.

Hard standing - ours was crushed slag.

Grass area - needed harvesting weeks ago.

Toilet block - working with water leaks, shower cubicles filthy.

Rubbish - when we arrived there was lots scattered on the pitches and the site assistant sat on a golf buggy ignored it.

All this and more for £23 per night with electric. Unbelievable price. If you walked around the static/holiday caravan area you saw well cut grass, no litter, good facilities.

No, I would not go there again at any time of the year.

Bongoderek hit the nail on the head. We were visiting Portsmouth to see the Mary Rose. All nearby Club sites were fully booked, but this one had lots of space, despite being the only site we could locate in the immediate area. The price has increased from the £20 which Bongoderek felt to be excessive to £23 (15% in a single year). Despite this, it still had that uncared for look. Our EHU bollard nearly fell over when I attached the cable. The lock on the nearest gents was broken so that you could get in without using the card key. Once you did, one of the three showers couldn't be used because the lock was damaged so the door couldn't be locked. A second shower directed the water more horizontally than vertically, so all of your clothes would have been soaked. On the second morning the one shower I could use was still running cold after several minutes, so I had to use the motorhome shower. Not what we pay 'full facilities' prices for.

We didn't hear much noise from the pub, probably because there were few people staying (the last week before the school holidays). For the record they had two real ales on handpump, but I didn't try them.

There is a motorhome service point, but the grey water waste drain was situated so that we couldn't use it without blocking the access road.

When you consider that you can get a Caravan Club site with vastly superior facilities, even as a non member, for less money, I find it hard to see why anybody would want to stay here. I guess it's because they are the only site within miles that they can get away with this.

Visit this site every year prior to ferry to Isle of wight. Some years we spend several nights. I agree that it seems a little below average but I carry my own sink plug anyway. I've always been able to get a pitch, this year at very short notice due to CC site sudden closure. Personally I think it's a great site in a great location. There's Tesco less than 5 minutes away and Gosport town centre has LIDL, Co-Op & Morrisons.

We booked the site with friends who had visited it before and then read the reviews after. A little worried but need not have been because its a peaceful tidy little site. Close to the sea, friendly staff, although the showers were a little unpredictable with pressure/temperature (just about usable if nobody else using one) - perhaps in need of a little attention to things like door locks etc? It has a club room with meals and some entertainment if required but a good site for getting away from the usual touristy sites yet close enough to the town and ferry to Portsmouth etc. Ideal for sitting out with your friends sharing a bbq and bottle of wine. Dog friendly.
