Totally recommend this site, when I arrived the staff where very. Helpful, asked where I had travelled from, how was my journey. I was shown where I could pitch my tent, and given a quick overview of site and surrounding area.

Pitched my tent and went for a much needed shower, shower block was immaculate showers very powerful.

After tea made my way to camp Bar, very reasonable price and food looked great. A very friendly site and a few minutes walk from the beach.

Overall a brilliant weekend.

After reading reviews about the Kingfisher site I was reluctant to stay there. After being let down with my caravan storage I was stuck with my caravan with no where to put it. I booked on to the site to give me more time and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and helpful and I came away from there quite happy, met a few people in the very friendly club and also came away with caravan storage a short drive away. I will return.

Stayed for one night at end of September to attend a friend's retirement party - one night was enough! Site has a 'captive clientele' being the only site in the local Gosport area. At £20 per night, for one person with a small campervan, I thought it was very pricey and not good value for money, although included hook-up. Additional, returnable, deposit of £5 required for swipe card for security barrier (although I didn't see it closed) but also used to get access to very dated toilet/shower facilities.

Site in need of a lot of TLC - untidy and in need of maintenance. I was told to select my own pitch on a hard-standing. Hard-standings consist of a small amount of loosely scattered gravel. Some hook-up bollards would probably fail a health and safety inspection. The first connection I tried was broken and the alternative nearby bollard was laying on the ground (as were several others). Had to move to a different pitch to get a safe looking hook-up. I returned from the party sometime after 11. 00 and the disco in the on-site bar (there is a large holiday caravan park as well) was still in full swing, and very noisy until about 11:30.

Site location is good for access to the attractions of Portsmouth etc. , with Stokes Bay and views across the Solent to the IOW. A short walk away. For time of year, the site was surprisingly quite full. But for the price charged they really do need to re-invest some of the money in improving the facilities. I won't be returning! I have based my review on a comparison with other sites. I am retired and travel widely around the country in my campervan therefore I stay at a lot of different sites. I have seen worse sites, but not that many!

Stayed here for a planned one night stop in preparation for an early morning departure by ferry from Portsmouth.

On arrival told to select own pitch, access to field is via an issued key card, which is also used to access the toilet block.

Site looked a bit rough round the edges - piles of gravel in car park, not the best grass cutting, wheelie bins abandoned in random areas, road cones around patches of grass etc. Pitches flat, gravel hard standing with grass for awning. Majority of pitches occupied by motorhomes.

Toilets in a 'log cabin'. Door to mens didn't close properly so could access without the key card. Three showers - no separation or stool/shelf etc. So had to try and hang everything from single hook on back of door to keep dry, water was warm, but when another shower was activated water got colder and water pressure reduced. Two sinks - both without plugs.

The toilet block was clean and empty - but then we were using it at 5am for our early departure.

We didn't use any other facilities on the site so cannot comment, but from our very briefest of stays of about 12hours, I would say the site was suitable for our one night stop, but would have been disappointed if I had booked this for my actual holiday.

This site is split into a static and touring area. Arrived here on a very wet weekend so the touring area of the site was quiet. Checked in via the clubhouse and told there is free range to select a pitch. Clubhouse seemed quite nice for those that enjoy an on site meal or drink.

Pitch

The pitches are quite small and close together. The 'hardstanding' area will just about accomodate a larger van with grass at the side for an awning. There is electric hookup and water points and bins nearby.

Overall the touring area could do with some updating to bring it in line with the static area.

Ablutions

The toilets and showers are located in a log cabin which is basic but clean. There are covered sinks outside for dishwashing. There was plenty of hot water, however there were no plugs on any of the sinks (including dishwashing). If the touring field was full I would imagine the 3 toilets/sinks/showers would get a bit congested. Again this area was looking a bit tired.

Location

The site is in a really good location. A gentle 10 minute stroll gets you to to a clean, pebble beach with views to the IOW. There is an MOD training area on the beach which is great to let your dog run around. An easy, safe (dedicated cycle path) 20 minute cycle ride will get you to Lee on Solent which has a nice prom with Cafes/shops.

The other direction and you can cycle to Gosport, either direct, or along a nice coastal cyclepath via Stokes Bay. Gosport has a ferry across to Portsmouth (Gun Wharf Keys) should you wish to enjoy a city facilities and historic dockyard. There is also plenty to see and do in Gosport.

Summary

Set your expectations before you go here and you'll have a great time. If you get this campsite for a reasonable price you can live with the tired feel, as the location is really good with plenty to do.

Visited here on a very wet weekend. Site staff friendly and helpful. Toilets and showers not the best but adequate. The bar and restaurant are are nice and the food good and reasonably priced. Bus stop outside with 1/2 hourly service to Gosport Ferry to Portsmouth. Due to the very wet April the tent field was very waterlogged but there was room among the caravan/motorhome pitches so the few tents were accommodated there. Portsmouth has much to offer with the retail Outlet Gunwharf Quays for the shopaholics amongst you. For the ship freaks like myself the Historic Dockyard has lots to offer.

Been a while since the last review so I thought I'd post one, as we've just come back from a very nice short stay at this site. Recommend this site, good friendly service, good clubhouse and bar (with restaurant), seving good food with very reasonable prices. Disco last night, so things going on even out of season which is good, as the bar is popular with locals and the other residents staying on site.

Toilet block very clean, no problems here apart from (usual) lack of plugs in the basins so take your own. Only other thing to comment on was lack of a kids playground which other people have mentioned so maybe if we all ask !?

In summary we'll definitely be returning as it's a good base to explore portsmouth and gosport area where there is loads to do.

We spent 11 nights here and used all the facilities, I was a little concerned after reading some previous posts but the site was very friendly, the staff were all helpful and welcomed our two dogs, they were allowed in the shop and the bar, but obviously not the restaurant. Food was ordered in the restaurant and served to us in the bar. Food was good with large portions and very reasonably priced.

One shower block was a little dated but was fine, water varied in temperature but always warm enough to shower. The other has been more recently updated and the floor relaid and the drainage is not too good, hence water on the floor, which is solved though if everyone uses the squeegee hanging on the wall.

The road can be noisy but I didn't notice it after the first night or two. The laundry is on the static side and is well equipped and clean

The beach is nice and clean although pebbles and next to it is MOD land which is available for dog walking, large areas of open land and fenced, our dogs had a great time.

Although at first glance a little dated, the site is clean and well run and I have paid a lot more for worse sites. If you have children a play park would be useful though.

Just returned from a couple of nights stay and whilst staff very friendly the site is in need of some updating.

Showers have to be one area they need to look at as everything in the cubicle will get wet due to no segregation within it. The toilet block was a little tired and needs updating.

There is nothing for children to do other than the games room - a play area and play park would be beneficial.

Good location for beach and views to the Isle of Wight and good location to catch the bus to Gosport and the ferry crossing to Portsmouth but not a lot else to do.

My family and I visited Kingfisher Caravan Park and found it to be a very friendly site with staff that cant seem to do enough to help.

The site is well situated for the beach just a short walk away about 10 mins. We can recommend the walk along the beach to Lee-on-Solent. It is also a short car or bus ride away from Gosport town and across the ferry to Portsmouth.

The site has a club, bar and children's room.

The club serves great meals at a good price, the site is well managed clean and peaceful.

The touring vans are not packed in they have a good space to allow for your awning and car it also operates a card entry system to keep the non site users out.

My family and I will be going to kingfisher site again this year.
