Needed to be in this area for family matters so any site would do. Booked Kingfisher for 3 nights, looked good on arrival, check in was in the bar, barman takes fees and says find own pitch and don't drive on grass.

Most pitches were in very bad condition, a patch of road planings surrounded by churned up grass. After a drive round we found a pitch not too muddy. Long stay vans dotted around, statics, some in very bad condition.

Water taps are mostly not fixed to anything. Toilet block was warm and clean, but old fashioned, shower water went everywhere.

All in all not worth £24. 50 plus £1. 50 for dog per night. Wont use it again.

Nice welcome, decent sized pitches, not numbered so a bit of a free for all but not busy so no problem. Bit of noise from the nearby road but died down at night.

Had meal in the clubhouse (in the restaurant area) and it was tasty and good value.

The only letdown was the toilet/shower block - although not dirty, it was definitely grubby and in need of a major overhaul, although there was plenty of hot water.

We stayed here for 4 days in May 2015. The wardens and all staff were very helpful and welcoming, explaining what activities were available in the club house and restaurant. There was a reasonably well stocked shop.

We did have difficulty filling with water as the tap screws were of an 'odd' size but we did manage eventually. I wasn't able to find the 'grey' water disposal. The site was kept clean and the grass was cut so we didn't trail too much into the unit. Overall the site is in need of a little TLC.

The shower/toilet block, although clean was definitely in need of a refurb. The water from the showers ran the wrong way so flooded the area in front of the wash hand basins and then to the toilets so underfoot was always wet if anyone was in the showers and there was only one hook to hang clothes/ towel/ wash bag on.

Also there wasn't a squeegee to clear the water after showering. On the plus side the bus service was excellent, the bus stop was just outside the entrance and they ran every 10/15 mins both ways.

We were visiting the Portsmouth docks and the ferry was literally about 100 yards from the bus station and took you straight into the dockland area bus station, and train station if you wanted to go further afield.

I would hope that the shower area is attended to because this was the only real downside to our stay and it is a very convenient place to stay

Well what can I say the site has been let go the shower block could do with a stool in them as you have to blance on 1 leg

The water points nead a clean up and the brick work put back together and a change of colour trees nead a another cut back

And at £23 a night a bit hight it could be a good site like it used to be this time the club was empty

Stayed here three nights at half-term [coincidence, we don't have kids] but still plenty of room. Staff were friendly enough, and it is an excellent base for Portsmouth - buses every 20/30 minutes and they stop outside - but I question the cost: £22 a night in low season. For that money, I would expect first class facilities, but the shower room smelt of stagnant water, and didn't even manage a stool or seat. The owners can't have used the facilities themselves, unless they are still sufficiently flexible to be able to put on shoes and socks whilst standing on one leg? Comparing this with foreign sites with an ACSI card at £12 a night brought tears to my eyes! My suspicion is that the revenue from the touring site subsidises the permanent residents in the statics.

Stayed here on October break, which site is great for, as there is a lot to do nearby. Wouldn't like to stop here for main summer hols as local beach shingle. When we were there grass between pitches a bit boggy, but other than that all OK, showers clean & hot, club very good, the food great (16 oz. Steak for £11) but if you have younger kids, please be aware there is no play area for them. You also need £5 deposit for barrier key card, which also lets you into the loos.

Not the best site we have ever been on, but certainly not the worst. Would go back.

The site itself is looking tired and could do with some investment into it as it's in a great location for touring the local area and visiting the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is very good value. It's easy to park at the Submarine Museum or the Explosion Museum and then get the boat from there into the Dockyard (included in entry) or you can catch a bus from outside the campsite to the bus station at Gosport Ferry and get the passenger ferry over to Portsmouth. Turn left for Historic Dockyard or right for outlet shopping at Gunwharf Quays. One thing to be aware of is that the last bus from Gosport Ferry to Stokes Bay/Lee on Solent is at 7. 15 in the evening, after that it's down to taxi's.

Back to the facilities on site, I had trouble on quite a few occasions trying to get the key entry to work on either of the toilet/shower blocks and also saw other people whose cards failed to work. This was not too much of a problem to us being in a van but if you were camping in a tent you could have been left with no access to a loo during the night.

The showers did smell damp & mouldy. The grass areas needed tidying up - this campsite could be so much better.

On the plus side you could chose your own pitch and you were left alone by the staff.

Not sure if we would stay again.

I stayed here with my partner, daughter and 11 week old puppy Ben for 2 nights. A lovely place and absolutely great bunch of people who were all very welcoming.

We were situated next to toilets -our choice- which were kept very clean and tidy. Guy comes to pick up after messy people each morning. My daughter and puppy got lots of attention from residents.

Will def be staying again in a couple of weeks.

Thank you for making our stay a great one!

We booked in for 4 nights and arrived late afternoon. Was able to select our own pitch. Not enough signage for the drinking water, grey water disposal and chemical toilet disposal. The site is untidy and very tired. Although the showers were clean they needed a refurbishment and updating. The trees and hedges needed trimming and the pitches are not all level. The club house was ok with drinks prices being acceptable (we did not try the food). Again it could do with updating and money spent on it. Staff were friendly in the bar but not so at Reception. The location is very good but a little pricey and not good value for money.

Spent 3 nights here. Never been before. But read reviews. Yep the place looks like its had its best years, could do with spending a few job on it. But its one of the most friendliest place I've been too for a long while. Lots of hard standings or grass, pitch where you want, , club site got free webb. Dogs allowed in club house. Various events on in evening. Very friendly staff and customer's. Toilet block adequate. Showers hot. Free. Lots to do in area. Submarine museum. Diving museum. Beach. Portsmouth over ferry. £24 per night. Yes I would return.
