August 2005 We have just returned from a very rainy week, but would recommend this site to anyone. Surrounded by glorious trees, set in a valley near Berrynarbour this has to be one of the prettiest campsites around. The main toilet block was clean and adequate. The site has a quiet bar with food service (eat in and take away)and there is a well stocked shop.
My children enjoyed walking around the small lake each morning feeding the ducks and watching the fisherman land a couple of decent sized carp.
It is close enough to major tourist attractions and just far enough off the major route to avoid traffic noise from the main road.
In the evenings we wandered up to The Old Globe in Berrynarbor for a pub meal. The food was good and plentyful, and the drink was superb.

August 2004 This was our first camping trip and loved it. We were on extra field which if anything gives you a bit more freedom in pitching just find a space. Toilets and showers very basic but can walk up to toehrs if you want, free hot water all time. Shop and bar on site, kids loved rope over small stream and climbing frame. We'll be going back again no problems and we went on a busy weekend.

August 2004 Good Points: Nice flat site in seclude location and quiet even when full. Good shop, Bar/Resturant on site with family room and games room (not tested) Bad Points: Site facilities really stuggle when the site is full. Had to queue for toilets and showers (mens) on more than one occasion. Toilets were cleaned but got dirty fairly quickly. Sinks in the pot washing area are too close to each other and also had to queue. Summary: We stayed over the August bank holiday and beyond. When full the site struggles big time due to the lack of facilities compared to the number of pitches. When the vast majority of campers left on the Monday the site facilities were fine. Can get very boggy as it is in the bottom of a valley.

June 2003 Surprised at the reaction of previous reviewers! Are we talking about the same site?? Probably the best value for money site we know. Found it by accident 4 years ago and have been back 3 times since then. Ideally placed for touring North Devon & Exmore. Easy drive to Ilfracoomb & Barnstable. Easy access for caravan. Shop had everything we needed (even picked up a couple of bargains!) Good quality take-away food service. Friendly bar staff and pub prices. I'll agree that the showers & toilets would benefit from a mid-day visit by the cleaner, but what facility wouldn't? Main downer is the size of the pitches - too small. Would we go back again? Of course we would.

May 2004 We have visited this site on 3 occasions before and have always been impressed, although it does get busy in peak season. The middle field is the best, mostly because of the lake and stream. The pitches are also not far from the main block (2 mins walk if that) which has clean facilities and free showers- we saw a cleaner most mornings. The other shower block in the overflow field is very basic, it's worth walking to the main one. The staff are friendly and seem to do everything, including running the bar/restaurant (recommended for basic and cheap meals if you don't want to travel) and the shop has everything you would need. It was pretty quiet in May, just a few caravans, we were about the 2nd tent in the field when we arrived on a Friday for a weekend stay. The Globe pub up the road is a very busy and popular place, in the middle of Berrynarbor, there is a good choice of food. Overall we love Mill Park for its tranquil and peaceful atmosphere and will definitely go back again. Recommended.

April 2004 We only stayed for one night, but I thought that the facilities were good. I cannot relate to the previous comments, as I was there out of season. However, the pitches were nice and level, the toilets seemed clean and perfectly adequate and the reception staff were friendly. There were plenty of tourist leaflets which we found helpful. It was also the cheapest campsite we used, at only £7 for a car, tent and 2 people. The only thing I didn't like so much was that because the site is next to the river in quite a low position (other sites in the area seem to be at a higher elevation) the dew was incredibly heavy, which made it seem colder than it really was, and there were also a lot of little gnats hovering around. I did not visit the bar, but the pub in the village is listed in the good pub guide anyway. I didn't indulge in the breakfasts, but they looked to be very good value, and would be a lovely treat when you are camping for some time.

4th - 12th Aug 2003 I agree with the Cowdock family review, we were taken in by the super pictures on the web, we were in the middle field, spacious pitches but not marked, no lights at nights so very dark, showers and laundry old, not cleaned enough times in the day, staff are not helpful, never went in bar, seemed no point. small shop not much in there. A lot of mud trapsed into shower block because week before we arrived had been very wet, we were put off by this, cleaning once at night and once in the morning in high season is not enough. Lovely village with nice pub, we went to see a lot of other sites, Mill Park would be great if they modernised the facilities, put lamps in and showed a little more interest with the campers. Nice area to tour from, was a quiet site and spacious, kids loved it.

July/Aug 2003 Overall, the poorest standards we have found on any campsite - certainly not recommended. Due to weather/high season etc we found ourselves without any alternative and were obliged to book for two weeks here (though we left before our booking was up). We were put in the overflow field, where the majority of tents appeared to be sent. The toilet/shower facilities for this area were (allegedly) being upgraded and in the meantime were totally unacceptable - no hot water, cleaning haphazard at best, a very unpleasant experience. Whenever we drew the owners' attention to the state of the toilets (including broken lights etc), we were assured they had recently been serviced - NOT THE CASE. As we had a lot of rain, the entrance to the field became a quagmire (we saw at least one car get completely stuck) and in spite of our pointing this out, nothing was done about it. The freezer pack service was totally unreliable (wrong packs returned/packs lost/unfrozen. The laundry was tatty and we felt inadequate for the number of pitches and the main shower facilities were dirty and ill-equipped.

July 2003 Visited site at beginning of july, so third field (the one that is furthest from the loos) was not yet open.
Campsite has a small shop where you can refreeze icepacks. Also a small bar which a bit soulless. There are two very nice pubs within 10 minutes walk, both serving food.
Showers and toilets were clean with free hotwater. Also good washing up area with wash machine and tumble dryers.
Pitches were flat (a real bonus after sliding down hills on other campsites!) and fairly large, although not clearly marked out (unless using electrical hookup).
This is a very quiet site, with no loud parties or raves, and is a good base to explore the north devon coast.

August 2002 Looked pretty in the brochure.Nice lake on site for course fishing. Pitches are very close together and if you have a tent you are put in a field which is quite a trek to the toilet/shower block. At night time it gets VERY dark on site so a torch is a must. Showers are hit and miss get in early for a HOT one!!! Staff a bit blut and at times unhelpful access road very narrow so caravanners beware!!! Park gets very busy in high season and cleanliness of toilet block goes downhill. Small bar on site not very interesting but nice pub about 10 min walk away.
