We have just returned from a long weekend at Mill Park and we cannot wait to go back for a longer stay.
This was our first camping trip in our caravan after upgrading from a tent.
We are a family of four, 2 adults, 2 children aged 4 and 8 plus our dog, I have to say it was lovely to visit a site which was so dog friendly, obviously as with all other sites they had to be kept on a lead, but we were not restricted to certain pitches, as we have been at other sites with fishing lakes and we were also told we were welcome to take her to the bar in the evenings, which we didn't but it was nice to have the option.
Our pitch was right next to the fishing lake and within sight of the dog walking field. The site was well kept, the toilet and shower block were very clean and lovely and warm, and the showers were lovely and hot. It is not an overly large site but our daughters loved the play park and the freedom to go and explore and I loved feeling they were safe, the dog walking field, lake and play park were all within sight of our pitch.
They also have a Beauty Spa on site providing a wide range of beauty treatments at very good prices.
It was early in the season and very quite on site probably due to the recent cold weather so the bar was only open on Fri and Sat night which was fine for us, they stocked a good range of drinks at very good prices not over priced like many other sites, even the crisps and nuts were well priced so keeping the kids happy didn't cost a fortune.
The manager of the site could not have been more helpful or friendly. It's a well sheltered site so even though your on the coast we were not blown away by the coastal wind.
Combe Martin village is a few minutes up the road with a small beach, pubs, cafes ice-cream shops etc, then Ifracombe town is a few minutes in the other direction with a wider selection of shops.
Watermouth Theme Castle and Combe Martin Dinosaur and Wildlife Park are 2 family attractions very close by.
Would definitely recommend this site.

We stayed here for a week, the site is very clean and well kept, to toilets and showers(very narrow) are clean and most days hot water, the main door to the ladies shower was chocked open and it was very difficult to remove the chock, so on cold mornings the showers where draughty.
The play park for children was well equipped, the dogs walk a short walk through the wood which ran along the side of the site to a field on a steep slope, loads of dog bins round site. The fishing lake was a bonus the streams that ran round and through the site made the site sound like it was in the middle of nowhere. There is a shop on site, we didn’t use.
When we arrived the reception was open, (closes 1pm or 2pm day dependant) you are given your pitch number and a site plan along with a menu for the on site take away, no mention of the waste disposal or water points, even on the site plan.
The site is within walking distance to 2 pubs, both with good menus. The nearest village with shopping facilities is Comb Martin a short drive, with a couple of small super markets, petrol stations and loads of café, pubs and restaurants. This site is a great base, it was quiet (we went after the school holidays), Loads to see and do in the area.

We have just to the end of a weeks stay, and we have to say the everyone is so friendly. We were pitched near the lake for fishing and had the dog walk next to us which was convenient for our little dog. The facilities are great, showers and toilet blocks very clean. There are ample showers and toilets for the site.
The laundry is very cheap, I did a weeks washing for £4, 00. The shop on site is adequate for most peoples needs.
We had a meal from the on-site takeaway and it most enjoyable, and very good value for money.
The only downside is that part of the site does not get a tv signal, but you can use the tv in the day room whenever you want.

Excellent site. Shower / toilet blocks were very clean despite the rainy weather. Good dog walking area with plenty of dog waste bins.
Play area suitable for under 10's although the two teenagers in our party enjoyed playing football using the goal provided! Friendly bar / chill out room with TV and pool table. We used this regularly and enjoyed the Bingo, especially the biscuit prizes. Small games room with older style games but cheap so money lasted for ages.
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food from the Take away was excellent, hot, delicious and great value for money. The full english breakfasts were lovely.
Fishing was fantastic, even if we ourselves didn't catch 'The Big Ones'. A 17lb 2oz Carp was caught whilst we were there and bigger fish could be seen in the lake but remained elusive to our hooks.
Places to visit, Coombe Martin, Illfracombe and Woolacombe as a must see. Woolacombe, especially for its dog friendly sandy beach (parking not cheap though £7 per day in high season).
Would recommend visiting this site to others and we will be visiting again. Finally a big thankyou to Steve and Sophie for serving excellent beer and to 'Gromit and Wendolene' for the fantastic food.

Spent a week at 'Mill Park' and found it to be a lovely quiet site. Toilet block was cleaned everyday, showers were excellent with plenty of hot water.
Nice little bar on site that had 'wi-fi' access and also did take away food at a reasonable price. My husband & son spent many an hour at the fishing lake and caught a good few fish.
Lots of places to visit out and about, didn't get around to visiting everywhere we wanted to but where we did go was lovely.
Enjoyed our weeks stay and will definitely be visiting again

8 nights stay with family and my sister and her son.
I have been using this site for 15 years and first time back since the new owners took over.
Pitched on the bottom field and had no problem with the wet weather we had the week we stayed no boggy field etc!
Shower block didn't seem to get cleaned and was noticed by everyone this was the only down side.
As usual we didn't use the bar or take away as we were out and about visiting the seaside resorts etc. Hopefully the new owners will be as good as the couple who ran the for many years when I rated this site the best in North Devon. Hopefully the new owners will run the site the same way!

Just got back from our weeks break, we found the site after our four and a half hour trip and found it to be just as other people had said (only book on others reviews)
The site was not overly busy, no-one at office 3pm but paperwork left out telling us of our pitch and do's and don'ts. By 4pm all set up and then the rain came, woke up sunday to find very wet, would advise to book a hard standing pitch as most grass are on a slight slope.
Site has a nice little bar and on site cafe which I must say was great, food was very nice and plenty also very good price (new people running it)
The site facilities were clean and cleaned at 11am every day with plenty of hot water, there were a few things for children park and a games room for older ones, we did try this out ourselves, old machines but cheap, you could give the kids a fiver and not see them for a good hour,
Fishing lake on site,
Out and about so many places to see, not enough time, but where we went was lovely, Lynton Barnstbale, Ilfacombe, Woolacombe, Bidieford to name a few
All in all had a great break here and will be back again soon. We did not have children.

The site had a very unkempt look to it which I think was because we stayed in October, the last week of opening, grass was overgrown the nearest shower block/pot wash was closed and the site was being closed up for the winter.
As previous reviews nothing seemed open apart from the toilet block, reception was manned 9 - 1pm. I saw the on site bar open once in a week, however the most disappointing thing was the Chill out teenage room, as advertised, is now a holistic therapy room and that was shut for the week too
The games room was closed so consequently my children were bored stiff. Really disappointed with the facilities and sadly spoilt the whole experience which is a shame.
The other major issue is there is no site lighting on pathways, pitches, etc. So you will need a torch for the toilet block, as its pitch black in the evenings
There were some positives:
Staff & booking procedure - excellent
Setting - quiet, pretty with a lovely fishing lake, site drainage left our awning very boggy underfoot though
Toilet block - quite a walk through whole campsite however warm very clean loads of hot water excellent
Location - great near to Ilfracombe and Coombe Martin and all the other areas of North Devon easily accessible
Seasonal owners lovely and chatty, no noise, couldn't hear a pin drop after 7pm
With children over 7/8 yrs old you may struggle on this site to keep children amused due to the facilities, unless they like fishing. Play area ok but aimed at younger children. I imagine in the summer the children would have great fun in the stream, but it does circle the play area, so beware with little ones

My husband and I stayed at Mill Park for ten days last year and had a fabulous time fishing and meeting new people at the club house and enjoyed the spotless facilities.
We were so looking forward to returning which we did from the 26th of September to the 3rd of October we were very disappointed to find the club house closed, whilst they do say on the website that the take away is open at the managers discretion there is no mention anywhere on the website that the clubhouse is closed. We were told it would be open Friday and Saturday small consolation but we looked forward to using it at the weekend which we did on Friday evening we enjoyed ourselves and were chatting to some lovely people and arranged to meet them at the bar on Saturday night imagine our disappointment when arriving at the club house at 7. 50pm we found it closed. We were very upset that with it only being open for two nights out of seven it was cut to just one night.
We were also told upon arrival to the site that the shower and toilet facilities near the lake where we were staying were closed due to being painted. I expressed my concerns as I am disabled and cant walk far to be told that the disabled toilet was open.
In the Seven days that we were there the disabled toilet was used by most people staying near the lake and also by everyone fishing on the lake. In the whole seven days there was never any soap in the toilet and the toilet wasn't cleaned once, and by the amount of leaves, spiders, cobwebs and toilet paper over the floor it had possibly not been cleaned for some time prior to this
The lake water was so low that any fish that were being caught were very distressed at being dragged through very shallow water.
Mill Park has gone down hill in just one year and we shall not be returning, such a shame.

Just returned from a week at Mill Park. Its nearly all positive to report apart from one issue which I'll come to later. But first the good stuff.
Very quiet campsite, one of the quietest we have at, lovely surroundings with the river and the pond. The bar is great and the beer was good.
Unlike so many campsite the games room is properly maintained. The toilets are of high standard, loads of room in the showers which are free. Its convenient for Ilfracombe and to me looked a lot less cramped and nicer than some of the neighbouring campsites.
Now my complaint! When I booked I was told that our tent was too big and we had to book two pitches (to be fair the second pitch is at half rate). I was surprised about this as we are only a family of four. This was the first time we have had to do this. However I went along with it. At the campsite therefore I was rather disgruntled to see that in our tent field we were possibly the only people who had two pitches despite there being several tents that were the same size as ours and some cases even larger.
In short, I would happily return to this campsite again but next time I would want to pay the same camping fees as my neighbours.
